Clamp is so autistically obsessed with Jotaro and Kakyoin being gay for each other they add a lot of references to that in many of their manga. Why did they call the MC Sakura? Why does she have light brown hair and green eyes? Because she's based on Kakyoin, who's associated with cherries and green. Why is Shaolan a tsundere with massive eyebrows? Because he's based on Jotaro. In the sequel Toya, who's Sakura's sister, gains the ability to stop time just like Jotaro. The third ending is also a reference to Star Platinum with the star motifs and with the song's title.
