Part 2 has none of that, the characters feel inhuman and several scenes that the story seems to make an attempt to make you feel for them just fall completely flat, no amount of crazy things happening can make up for that - in fact, I would even argue that the excess of crazy is one of Part 2's main problems.

I think Yoru's case is just that she's a much easier character to write, so Fujimoto had a harder time fucking her up in comparison to the rest of the story. It's not so much that she is crazy good, it's that she is the only remotely good thing left in the story and even that is up to debate.
