I kind of wonder where people are seeing this "obnoxious" Monogatari fanbase. There are plenty of shows where faggots try to act like it is so deep and whatever that don't get shit. I've never really seen that happen in a Monogatari thread. It could be obnoxious if the fanbase was the type that hated the otaku elements and insecurely tried to pretend it wasn't for otaku. But that, of course, never happens here. Even the fucking reddit doesn't do this shit. The only real difference with the reddit is that they sometimes entertain dumb shit like "it is all actually Araragi's delusions" or overstating how much his relationship with Hitagi means. Otherwise even that place is like a god when compared to the rest of that psued retard terrorist website. This pretty much dictates what the rest of the fanbase looks like everywhere else on the Internet. You either get the fully based chan types or the watered down but still fine reddit ones. Where is this annoying Monogatari fanbase? Is there some fandom that views itself as a rival or something and is projecting?

The truth is, none of the girls really get much consistent focus other than Shinobu and, later on, Nadeko. Even Hitagi, who eventually marries Araragi, ends up not being with him most of the time (it seems deliberate on Nisio's part too).

While Araragi does the whole denial gag, his actions are still very honest. Everytime he is honest it typically ends up working out for him. All rooting from the beginning when he had multiple consequential moments of honesty in Kizu. It also shows the consequences of not being open and being dishonest. Him not being upfront with Hanekawa causes her to have multiple episodes and then eventually leave. Him not being honest with Nadeko causes her to kami out and threaten to destroy everything he loved (Nadeko herself also had issues because she wasn't being honest with herself). Ougi is the ultimate culmination of this, a being that initially comes off creepy but only speaks truths. One that ultimately ends up helping others and growing on those she is with. At first, being honest about some things may seem or feel creepy or weird. But ultimately, honesty will gain you trust and respect, which can really help you out in life. You could really find even more ways this theme is present in Monogatari. Don't let yourself become a mystery.
