>far more humanlike movements

Because 3D anime are soulless
Ajin would be 10x better if it were 2D

Sora 2 fixed 2d animation
>>
Because there's people who like to draw and people who like to look at drawings.

It would also need 100 times more work unless they went the Ufotable route and did 3D rendering over 2D. IBMs fit in the camp of perfect arguments for computer assisted animation.

Why use 3D when you can just use AI now?

>>very cheap to animate
Proper 3DCG is way more expensive to animate than anything that could ever be done in 2D. I'm talking about stuff like Square Enix Image Studio Division which makes the cutscenes for SE games, and movies in the past like Advent Children or Kingsglaive.
Anime CG looks bad BECAUSE the animators put no money into it. Vid related costs x100 as much to create as the average CG slop anime like Berserk. A traditional 2D studio can't just use 3DCG as a stopgap. It will always look like shit. You need to have a dedicated 3D studio like Studio Orange to make good looking 3D anime.

>isekai slop
Just use photogrammetry to turn irl locations and objects into photorealistic 3D models for cheap.

What?

Because contrarian hipsters want to continue living in the 2D world. Same for the people who bitch about AI.
>>
>>282921960
because 3D that looks as good as 2D takes just as much effort

Even cheap 3d still has a larger initial cost when you need a new character introduced. It's why you see some 3d tv anime using 2d for minor characters or just avoid having them at all, sticking to a very limited cast.

All anime is already 3DCG, has been for many years now. It's just that animators have figured out ways for it to imitate drawn 2D animation to the point where most people can't tell the difference anymore.

Her hands are still moving like prosthetics, which is a shame because 3DCG hands can be super hot

People always say this as if people who can actually draw and animate don't exist anymore despite plenty of evidence to the contrary with anime that come out.

If this were the case we wouldn't still be getting garbage that obviously looks like CGI. I will say though that some 2d animated stuff these days does look like CGI weirdly enough. I don't know how they manage to do that and they need to stop. Maybe in those cases it is them tracing over CGI.

>If this were the case we wouldn't still be getting garbage that obviously looks like CGI
The ones making it are just bad at it.
>I will say though that some 2d animated stuff these days does look like CGI weirdly enough
That's because they are 3DCG in the first place.
>>
>>282923531
I’m obviously not referring to the actor but maybe the avatar has a cock as well
>>
>>282924049
No, I don't believe that. There is a clear difference in how CGI and 2d animation look. We have not gotten to the point where they are indistinguishable. Things would be better if we had. The things I'm talking about are clearly 2d but do have a 3DCG sort of feel to them.

The 2D version was still better.

>We have not gotten to the point where they are indistinguishable.
If you're being fooled this well, then it clearly has.
>>
>>282924736
There's still tons of times when it's obviously CGI though. If we were to the point where it was indistinguishable, we wouldn't have that, especially in bigger budget productions and in the same series where I'm talking about the 2d that looks kind of like 3d.
>>
>>282921960
It's not cheap at all
>>
>>282921960
The actual reason is that most anime is made on the cheap, and unlike with the transition from cel to digital, there isn't a cost or health reason to move to 3D CG.
The big studios will definitely shift to full 3D CG productions though. I imagine we'll soon see a new Tetsuwan Atom made with 3D animation.

>>282921960
Why would people want to look at hand drawn art?
Why would people go to a museum to look at old paintings?
Why do we even exist?
Maybe it's entirely possible that different people want different things from the medium.
Also,
>animes

>>very cheap to animate
>have this one scene
>director plots a story board
>animation director instruct how the scene will play
>animator will draw the scenes

>have this one scene
>director plots a story board
>coordinates with the cinematographer with how to make the shot
>talk to the camera operator to perform the shot
>grab actor to pre-viz the scene
>do a lot of takes
>actually do the shot
>whoops, some of the mocap got fucked up in the process
>get the animator we tried to replace and basically clean the final product for compositing
>budget ballooned while having the same quality
