I have way too little space on my shitty phone to download anime so I decided to torrent a bunch of anime and put it on my old PSP as it has a shit ton of space and is pretty portable. Sure, i'd be easier to just find a site to watch stuff online but I don't really like using those and I like to keep my stuff downloaded. It seems like a quick novelty but it's really great, the PSP is actually a great handheld,
it's one of the last handhelds that can actually fit in your pocket. I watched the first half of Little Witch Academia on it just kicking it back on my couch and I have a backlog of other things to watch.

I doubt anyone here has a PSP, but if you do I reccomend trying this!
Only roadblock is converting your videos so the PSP can actually play them.
There's some misinformation online about how videos work on PSP and
it was pretty confusing at first, but with the help of my friend I made a good Handbreak preset that burns in english subtitles and makes the videos perfect quality and a compact file size.
(usually like 70 megabytes per episode)
After converting it's as simple as connecting your PSP to your PC and dragging your episodes to your PSP's video folder.
You might need a memory card, but I'm actually not sure. You can also get a homebrew video player to take screenshots and stuff which is what I use but it isn't nessecary.
Do you use any non-conventional devices to watch your anime?
I would love seeing pictures, and I'm happy to help!

this is awesome!!!! :D
the psp is a very fun console.

I have a PS Vita (I used to have a PSP but not anymore). The Vita is an underrated handheld but I'd still rather watch anime on my smartphone if I had to choose a portable device to watch it on
>>
>>282942361
>watching anime on a low res, retro console
Awesome, I might even dust off mine to try it. Or see how it works on a Vita, they're the same form factor.
>Do you use any non-conventional devices to watch your anime?
Not really non-conventional, but I use a laptop with a ripped off wifi card, so its a 100% offline device. I torrent on main pc to a portable ssd, then connect that or copy to that laptop so I can watch it in bed. Its nice because I can easily take, edit, and rename screenshots, which I take a ton of. Same with manga.

NOICE. I have 2 PSPs that I'm not using right now but I could use this to watch some more anime on the go.

Do you mind posting those Handbreak presets to a catbox?

Yea, i remember watching soul eater on my psp. It was even the same "bright" revision. It was pretty cool actually. There were even websites with anime torrents already formatted for psp. The only downside that i can remember is that baked-in subtitles were often next to unreadable because they were meant for normal-sized screens, and the built-in subtitle tool is barely functional. That said, i watched a ton of anime on mine and was super happy with it

Be clinically insane and buy the 1seg tv tuner and transmit anime from your PC to a 1seg analog signal and watch through your PSP 1seg application. (I've thought of trying to fuck with this as a project because handheld systems with TV tuners have caught my interest recently).

I have a PSP GO so space is unfortunately limited without modifying which I haven't felt inclined to do, otherwise I like the idea behind it.

I recommend making a Plex server and just streaming your collection to your phone, although streaming outside your local network is like $5 a month after a short trial unfortunately, I think there's other services which makes this possible to do for free although I hear it's a bit annoying to set-up.

Also cute McDonald's parappa charm, I bought the full set last year but haven't felt inclined to use them because I don't want them to get damaged.

>>282942361

There's Jellyfin which is free but it can be a little annoying to set-up.

What do you get out of this kind of trolling?
>>
>>282942575
this is not a thread about anime, this is a thread about trying to be quirky and emulate a time period that you never existed in and barely existed to begin with

It's the same shit as people who do "DURR SHOULD I WATCH LE OLD ANIME ON A CRT???" no motherfucker there's no benefit, this isn't tomb raider there's no dithering, if you gave a shit you'd watch the best quality torrents available on a good screen
>>
>>282942558
Whoops, yeah your right. Some of what I glanced over online gave me the implication it was something akin to an analog frequency but yeah it's a digital UHF frequencies, I'm still new to this stuff.
>>282942586
So I've heard which is why I was disinterested since I got too accustomed to using Plex and the effort to switch over didn't seem worthwhile.

It's about watching anime on different devices. Stop backseat modding and ignore threads you don't like, you autistic cunt.

Why not watch anime on a Game Gear or PC Engine GT?

Here you go! I had many presets but this should be the best one, It's for mkvs so it chooses Japanese dub and English subs. Tell me if it works! Sorry I took a while, Didn't expect to get these many replies this quick, but I love reading through them!

Is that amp really that necessary for those tiny in-ears? Especially when walkman pumps out something like 350 mWt

those are shure kse1500's which are electrostatic IEMs. they require their own amp.

There was a lot of PSP encoded video going around on torrents back in the day. Plus, various direct download websites. Nowadays the hassle of reencoding spoils it a bit but a lot of people did use it before competent smartphones were a thing.

The PSP brings back memories. I still mostly watch anime on my decade-old laptop though. I don't understand the folks needing full screen TVs all the time when you just need a non-shitty video player.
>>
>>282946526
After hooking up a desktop PC to a 40in TV I couldn't go back. Sitting on the couch in my sleeping bag waiting for Yuru Camp raws to finish downloading was such a great time. Far better than planting my rump in a 'puter chair.

Speaking of the PSP and music does anyone know a good audio visualizer as good as the PSP? Used to play Dissidia and stare at the effects like an autis. Still can't find a good audio visualizer sadly

How do you get that Hatsune Miku theme? That looks like the one my limited edition Hatsune Miku PSP had, but I deleted it somehow.
>>
>>282949546
yeah, reading and watching stuff on the computer feels awkward for me, I try and avoid sitting down for longer than 50 minutes at a time. It's nice to lay down and relax while reading manga, while if I sit infront of the computer, the screen just feels too big
>>
Wish I had the cash as a high schooler to get a PSP. Those things were dope.
