I realized what was missing from Berserk when the story went to the Kushan Empire. Every arc, Miura draws upon the mythology and culture of the surrounding setting to make new monsters and characters around. None of the new characters introduced have had any personal interactions with the cast, leaving no impact on the setting. Then when the apostles arrive, instead of seeing new horrors based around hindu demons, we see the same apostles as before slain with no real impact.I believe that going forward, Berserk will have no new ideas or concepts introduced and will just recycle what we have already seen.
They are probably trying to streamline things as much as they can to reach the ending.
