Big Mom is more a force of nature than a person but that ends up being basically exactly what she is. It's good, I like it. the theme is fun. Oda is still really good at humanising people were supposed to like. he gives them endearing little gags and or shows of love and loyalty: specifically here, bege, chiffon and the rest of them. dudes had a long running manga / anime for a reason but>after the wedding, the escape planJesus fucking christ this really drags. Big Mamas kaiju rampage was a good opening move to show off her power and then after the wedding its used in the worst way possible to drag the arc out a little longer and really deflates the menace he'd built in her, she's reduced to just wandering around the sea on a candy slug like Godzilla with no direction or purpose combined with the >sanji go make a cakejust. Dressrosa was the same but the drag was inverse - we spent too much time in the colloseum at the start and now were spending too much time here at the end. I'm beginning to worry about Wano, but then i've worried about every arc I go into so but Wanos double the length of both dressrosa and whole cake and they've both had (as mentioned) length issues. the evil power rangers were fun. Katakuri is cool but also continues the really weird and annoying trend of heights being meaningless outside of their aesthetic choice of "Luffy is the little guy fighting the BIG villain" which just annoys me. Listen I know I asked how this dude wasn't a fucking logia but he's permanently castle and Katakuri is "special paramecia". what are we doing here, Oda? Also draw more smoothie, I don't care how you do it but do.

I hate One Piece because it doesn't make sense. Not because of scaling, power level or whatever which is bad in itself. But it looks like all the unsolved mysteries and motivations in the series make no sense, and the story has gone on long enough that it won't land on it's feet to answer them all.Who's Imu? What's their motivation? If they're so powerful why are they sitting on their asses all day?What's the One Piece Laugh Tale treasure that will apparently uncover the truth of a world? A magic button that changes the world or a text message? Doesn't feel like anything will make sense of everything or be fulfilling.

Luffy is progressing so fast that the WG who is already having to deal with other threats is unable put the pieces in the right spot in order to end Luffy's journey.

the further into the series I go, the more convinced I am that Oda realised all the cool shit happened 20 years before luffy and we're spending more time in flashbacks because he's fucked it. >kinemon, momonosuke etc are all from the past. hmm. It's not like it's the worst thing to realise but it does mean going forward the flashbacks are only going to get worse as he wrestles with trying to tell a story that happened 20 years ago and have it be meaningful now. I don't know why I should care about Oden from 20 years ago except for the fact he did the fuckin poneglyphs and was friends with Roger but like, so? mans dead, he can't tell you about raftel.
