He was sort of a mini-Kuroki with crazy reaction speed in R1 with how he was ripping into Haruo and gouging the wounds. He doubled down on the shield stuff in Omega, but his parries are pretty effective. Nicolas was just a weird matchup for him because he could still hit pressure points even if Akoya diverted the blow. To his credit, he also tried to stick to the rules until Nicolas started cheating his ass off and got his murderboner going with his own.

So what does this reveal about him? It reveals that a person like this is essentially an underachiever with an overinflated ego. He doesn't want to put in effort, and yet is aware of the importance of basic internal logic (instead of just doing blatant retcons), so he cares enough to basically put in measures that basically shut people up and potentially dupe impressionable people into thinking he's some kind of a 5D genius. He doesn't care if more critical readers catch onto his bullshit act, he just only cares if the idiots (like the Comikey paypigs) think he's smart. And he's self-aware about it too. This translates into his writing in the most insufferable way possible: With constant fourth wall breaks where characters literally address tropes to the reader, as a way of reassuring them that Sandro is aware of these tropes.
