Why does he make people so upset? because he outsmarted their edgy selfinsert?

>shota bvlls giving depression to basedboys
what's new?

>he's not L
>anime butchered near and mello arc
>L lost, but he won.
>>
>>283065834
I read this shit as it was coming out. I forgot this guy even existed but I remember L quite well.
>>
>>283065834
He's less of a character and more of a plot device. And light is too retarded to me to self-insert as.
>>
>>283065834
Everything up until "yeah, we made a fake notebook with meticulously copied handwriting" was excusable but that was the point where you could tell they were just trying to wrap it up.
>>
because he was an improved version of L

and not homo
>>
>>283065961
I still buy Matsuda theory. I was pretty annoyed by the fake notebooks back in the day too.
>>
When L died they just conjured 2 new ones out of nowhere, and people weren't having it.
>>
>>283065834
Yes they're mad that Mello and him won against Light's "perfect" plan. Can't be that much of a perfect plan if you didn't account for human error. Light had so much ridiculous shit going for him the entire story on top of essentially having supernatural powers yet he gets praised as this super keikaku genius. Accept that not only he fumbled at the end by being too reliant on his autistic follower, not having any contingency and spilling the beans himself by gloating before the finish line.
>>
>>283065961
That was just a lie Near made up. In reality they wrote Mikami's name in the real notebook and instructed him not to check the fake notebook.
>>
>>283065961
Near just used the notebook and cheated. It fits his character.
L saw the chase as a game and wanted to follow the rules and have him charged by the court fair and square
Near just said fuck it, we know Light is kira since L died, he didnt want to write his name directly, because he wanted to rub his face in defeat so he used Mikami
>>
Light should have won..
>>
>>283065834
retarded ass pull character
they should've just given the Fujos what they wanted and had L and light fuck
>>
people tell me he's better in the manga but I couldn't make myself sit through Mello's mob boss arc again to find out.

Magic notebooks are one thing, pulling a rocket out of your ass is quite another.
>>
>>283065834
Simple: because he defeated Kira and Kirafags can't handle the asspain.

He is not the GOAT.
>>
>>283065834
>had a cool antagonist
>kill him
>continue the exact same storyline but with someone far less cool
Genius idea
>>
>>283065834
didn't help that the anime cut out so much of his internal monologue and deduction. also several entire scenes where we get to know him a little.
with so much literally missing, he seems like an ass-pull machine.
>>
>>283068082
the infamous ass-pull scene where he just spins around silently and picks out the right guy from one of the screens had a page of text in the manga explaining his deduction, for example.
>>
>>283065906
L never had a chance bcs of the asymmetry of their means
Light deserved his downfall 100%
>>
>>283065834
People hate that he replaced L
>>
>>283065834
Because he's a shittier version of a pre-existing character.
>>283065906
>>anime butchered near and mello arc
It was already shit.
>>283070273
>Light deserved his downfall 100%
Not really, it was really dissapointing that the story could think of anything else then him getting caught in the end. It would have been much more interesting if his "downfall" was simply a result of him being unable to create a perfect world.
>>
>>283065834
Because he didn't need to exist. L was already doing everything Near did better and had already endeared himself to the audience.
It's one thing that he out-bullshitted Kira's bullshit, that was something you just had to accept had to happen because they weren't going to let the villain protagonist win, Jump would have blasted them off the planet (see Isayama for a similar scenario) but Near's whole purpose in the story is to be a deus ex machina that is only there because they killed the most important character for shock value when they didn't need to.
>>
>>283071184
>they killed the most important character for shock value
It just seemed like a natural progression of the story, although what came after didn't.
>>
>>283065834
Anime butchered his tricks and turned him into the Avatar
