I've never read it, is Berserk still worth reading even if the author is fucking dead and the story will never be finished as he intended?

It wouldn't have mattered much either way. Like most manga Berserk started off strong, peaked as the artist told the story he wanted to tell, then flounders aimlessly for as long as it stays serialized.

I still enjoy it, you should check it out. The Lost Children arc is the best.

Anyway, it's an old series with a swordsman killing demons. The last chapter where the author unfortunately passed, is a decent stopping point for most people - I'm still reading, though.

It's pretty good but starts to fall off once the little boy, the little witch and the other party members enter the story. Don't get me wrong there's some decent scenes like when they fight the goblins off together. But the abundance of new party members slow the plot down exponentially.

It's just more crap for the mangaka to draw.
