>serious no bullshit characters>entire episodes devote of dueling to focus on PLOT>no shonenslop hijinks>not a single retarded tournament arcThe franchise peaks with VRAINS doesn't it?
Link is shit tho
I need her
>>283088634Have you actually tried watching it?
>>283088855Yeah, it is actual KINO after the trash that was 5Ds, Zexa, Arc-V, Sevens-Go.
>>283088868Ah, so it's a bait thread
The best Female in Yu-Gi-Oh. She actually mattered, and her duels were against note worthy opponents. I am tired of retards downplaying her bc she lost against THE MAIN ANTAGONISTS OF THE arc. Like what did you fags expect?
>>283088910Hardly bait, all of those are considered shit with some good arc in between.
>>283088634It's interesting how much many ideas from Appmon TV Tokyo managed to impose onto VRAINS despite yoshida and the other writers clearly wanting to have a much more dour, somber, and serious show. Makes a unique tone that's more or less divided between gimmicks and drama
>>283088910>Blue Angel thread
>>283088951more like Digimon Tamers and Big O, Yoshida's mentor is Chiaki J. Konaka
>>283088972To be completely fair Appmon was TV Tokyo imposing many ideas from earlier yugioh series onto digimon. Many of which Yoshida was in charge of writing. From the atlantis and virtual world arcs of Duel Monsters to ZEXAL. But with a lot of idol and entertainment gimmicks tacked on.
>>283088751Has anyone ever been happy with any of the yugioh summoning gimmicks? Fusion and ritual weren't even good at the start of the game.
>>283089037I like to think of Vrains as a more mature remake of Zexal but with the opposite message. Yusaku is the only protagonist who chooses not to merge with his partner when given the choice. Zexal in turn was like a remake of the original manga.
>>283089067Synchro is kino
>>283089073Now that's a lot more layered. You can look at it from a lot more angles than ZEXAL's ending which is mostly about man and his connection to god(there are other things but it's not a long explanation). VRAINS has a lot more loaded with ideas with man merging with machine, whether loves exists in virtual reality, father and the technological next generation, the inevitably of techno apocalypse. Stuff that was in 5d's but a lot more negative. It had a lot of the negative conclusions Tezuka, Nagai, ishinomori and others did in manga that overall inspired yugioh.
>>283089215now convince anyone else.
>>283088911Our obligatory Miki Makimura character yugioh has had since anzu.
>>283089542Aoi is not like Anzu at all. She isn't even in love with the MC. She is from the family tree of Onii-sama.
>>283089587>>283089542Aoi is based off of Shizuka / Ishizu archetype
>>283088634Playmaker...my fucking HERO
>>283088634I would have tried watching it if the character designs weren't so ugly
>>283089977>Status - UndefeatedThis is the REAL KING OF GAMESthe rest are imposters
>>283089587I can't agree. The parallels and common design choices between aoi and anzu are numerous. Brown hair, plain style, idols being modern dancers. The storyline of her shifting her feelings from Akira to Yusaku is similar to how Anzu has to move on from the pharaoh to Yugi. Both have purple older sister figures pushing them forward in Mai and Emma. Aoi is essentially a version of Anzu that's much more involved with the battles and overarching story.
>>283090025some are pretty, most aren't... gets better each seasonit is kinda endearing
>>283090065Asuka and Aoi is a better example
>>283090065And to be clear the blue and pink avatars/costumes were Aoi taking on dark magician girl like personas which is much like imagery put onto Anzu as one of her aspirational goals.
>>283090170Asuka is the school Idolher deck consists of dancers like TrickstarsShe wears blue but later changes her whole persona to white etcShe has an older brother which she seeks to save etc
>>283090124Yes and this is because asuka is a blending of Anzu, Mai, and Shizuka. Many of these character types intentionally overlap.
The Anzu archetype are Kotori, Yuzu, RominIshizu and Shizuka are blended together in Asuka, later Rio, and AoiThe Mai archetype are Aki, Anna, Ema
>>283090287and you got the Rebecca archetype as well in Rei, Carly, Cathy, Meiru , Yuamu
>>283090203>>283090259That's incomplete. Idols and asuka's deck are clearly patterned from Anzu being a dancer. Cyber tutu? The older brother is similar to the pharaoh acting like an older brother or male figure whenever he was active. Asuka is not easily separated in category from Anzu.
>>283090170>>283090203>>283090219>>283090287>>283090342>Aoi is Anzu, Asuka, Aki etcwtf am I readingAoi is too unique to be reduced to binaries unlike those useless cheer-leading losers that do not play a role in the narrative or even the card game
>>283090342And I know some people divide idols from dancers but they're not really. Idols are pop stars and dancers but in Japan.
