It was always uneven to me. I don't hate it but it does feel like it wastes its potential every time it feels like the mangaka had gold on their hands. I don't regret reading it though and the anime adaptation was nicely made and some of the directing made some scenes really funny when they shouldn't have been which is ultimately a positive for me in this case.
