Telling the viewer the symbolism is symbolism is important because otherwise it goes over their heads, resulting in them believing they watched something without symbolism.

It becomes particularly funny when they try to dunk on something for having a simple plot while simultaneously being too midwitted to autonomously pick up on symbolism. In a sense they are speed watching without subs.
