When Toriyama died he got tons of official tributes. When Takeshi died they didn’t even mention it in the author comments.
>>
I guess it just wasn't in the cards for him.
>>
Toriyama is just plain and simple just more influential and overall more important to the manga industry.
>>
>>283153122
Except he died a hero saving people.
>>
>>283153391
Kaz didn't actually save anyone. He basically killed himself just as the ones in danger were already going to be saved.
>>
>>283153615
how pity of you trying to downgrade his actions
>>
>>283152957
He saved kids instead of fapping to them
>>
>>283152957
sadly you can't compare the legacy of toriyama with kaz, toriyama series existed way longer than kaz's but also his impact in pop culture stays strong to this day, yugioh on the other hand is quite niche while it helped boom the interest of TCG it only holds itself thanks to that hobby rather than being its own universe.
>>
>>283152957
He died a hero, but he shouldn't have tried to save a drowning person but it might have been worse watching them die without trying.
>>
mask of restrict is on field
>>
>>283152957
No disrespect to the man, but the real reason behind Yugioh's success if Konami.
The man had the concept but Konami came up with the proper rules. Dude was set for life with all the royalties.
To his credit his monster designs are excellent though.
>>
>>283154165
the game would've never gained any popularity if it weren't for the anime, which was based on Kaz's manga. to this day, characters like Yugi and Kaiba and cards like Dark Magician and Blue Eyes are more culturally relevant than any card that wasn't featured in the Duel Monsters anime
>>
>>283152957
Spent all his social credit score on an Exodia pull.
>>
>>283152957
It's a damn shame.
>>283153615
He risked it all trying.
>>
>>283154165
Anon it was a hit in Jump before any anime or merchandizing stuff happened.
>>
>>283152957
Everything about his death sounded to suspicious.

>body just randomly washes up on a beach shore
>no one reported he had fell over from a fishing boat and went missing for days or weeks
>was with 2 US marine
>>
>>283157252
>brody got my kids yugioh cards and now they're calling him daddy
>I'll show them, I'll show them all
>>
>>283157252
huh
>>
>>283152957
Because nobody in the West read the manga so they don't know anything about the person responsible for creating the series. As far as they know, Konami are the ones responsible for it.
>>
>>283157566
His name is on all of the cards. "Yugioh as Kazuki Takahashi intended it" is a minor meme in the Yugioh community.
>>
>>283157252
And don't forget that the whole incident took place close to a US military base of operations in Japan and the marines that he tried to rescue literally got awarded medals for their service to the US government after Takahashi's death.
I am not saying the United States government killed famous mangaka Kazuki Takahashi but they totally fucking did it.
>>
>>283153615
>>283156228
it's apparently common for people to die in rips like that, as those they're trying to save are washed ashore by the current, the biggest thing is just to wade in the water until you're out of it, and then swim back along with the waves
>>
>>283157738
Yu-Gi-Oh players don't read.

>drowns trying to save a kid
>only the marine saves this mysterious kid
>nothing on the internet about some kid who was almost saved by his hero, the mother fucking yugioh creator
Something ain't adding up.
>>

Dont forget he was single and had no heirs too.
Konami might be in on this,

I didn't enter this thread thinking that by the time i exist it I'll believe that the guy who created Yu-gi-oh was killed by the United States government, and yet now i do.
>>
I remember almost getting carried out to sea in the water for going too far out as a child and had to find out the hard way how to get out of it. You don’t fuck with the ocean without the necessary preparations. Let the professionals handle it if someone’s drowning it’s not your job to be a hero.
>>
>>283158704
1. he had to try. if you see a kid out there drowning you can't just watch otherwise that shit would haunt you
2. damn, rips are scary. being on top of your physical health, being a better swimmer and learning about rips is are 3 things you don't really think about but in a situation where all 3 conditions are tested, the wager is your life

>>
>>283158510
I mean because of Kazuki is that Konami can't offer money prize support and there have been a few other times where Kazuki said no to Konami's demands like censorship of his art.
>>
>>283153391
>Except he died a hero saving people
what are you talking about anon?
>>
>>283157137
>>283154275
Konami was producing extremely popular video games for the franchise long before they made the physical TCG, and the anime itself never took off until studio gallop made it under Konami's new marketting push and TCG after Bandai and Toei failed with their first attempt.
>>
>>283157761
...Why would the United States government kill the creator of Yu-Gi-Oh and then cover it up?
>>
>>283152957
"Official" tributes are just advertisements. A lot of people involved in DB wanted more tributes because they wanted exposure, apparently Toriyama's closest relatives did not want any of that so Shueisha in fact did not do any official tribute.
>>
>>283160609
Kaz wouldn't let them make full borders for regular YGO, the miliatary first had to take him out of the picture in order for Konami to agree to make both the Genesys format and full art cards.
>>
>>283157252
I want a two hour YouTube documentary now. Takahashi was a very interesting man I wonder why they killed him
>>

Got caught hosting one too many TGC tournaments on Epstein island
>>
>>283160950
Looked into it a little looks like he was getting political
>>
>>283161229
Should he really be using these characters as a mouthpiece for his political views?

Damn. I still love the man, but this is western webcomic artist levels of cringe.
>>
>>283161262
Did it get deleted? I don't think Jump or Konami would allow this.
>>
>>283152957
Wasn't his death basically a hit job? I think Konami really just wanted him dead.

Is this a joke

The discovery of the shadow realm.
The real shadow realm is very much like the Yu-Gi-Oh one, they probably questioned him and found out that he somehow knew of the real shadow realm.
>>

>No disrespect to the man, but the real reason behind Yugioh's success if Konami
We've had 3 years of Konami managing YGO without Takahashi and the IP is sinking rapidly so no lmao
