There's no passion in this writing. Akane won because she was the most popular and won the most polls? Because she confessed first? Shiragiku was Hayato's first love and told him she liked him for a long time in chapter 1. Riho confessed 3 chapters after Akane. A difference of 3 chapters decided Riho's fate, and Ouka's the tsundere so obviously she can't confess before the others, she genuinely disliked Hayato at first. Ami didn't even get feelings until nearly 100 chapters in. Akane got the first 1 on 1 arc for herself and romantic development, so it's her win.I would have made Ouka or Riho win. There's more sentimentality in their relationships and the importance of family. Hayato was the spark that got Riho's family back together, when they were totally broken apart, and she desired to make the cafe a success just as much as Hayato. Ouka left Hayato for France to pursue her dream, and Hayato was upset, but accepted it because he could relate it to his own grandmother pursuing her dream by moving to Spain and making her own restaurant, but having to leave it behind to raise Hayato. His grandma passed her own legacy to Ouka by making her be the one taught to make Hayato's favorite food, the pilaf that she would have to make in her place after she's gone. So you can't make any connection with the past, and Hayato's grandfather falling in love with Sachiko with Hayato picking a girl who reminds of his grandma, there's hardly any connection in their stories, besides having the same face. There's also no relation in the granddaughter's personality to her mother, she resembles Ami and Riho personality wise, Ouka's personality fits what little we heard about her mother. So you can't make a theme there or see the influence of the parents on their child. At least Akane's grandma was avenged. Feels more like Seo just wanted to be different than actually write a romance story.

This is a time loop manga where the Cafe is stuck in a cycle. Hayato's grandmother was the winner of her harem which meant she left the harem for the next cycle, which is now. The cycle demands a harem ending that has yet to come so each winner can't be in the next. But the Black Saints are an unforseen circumstance which has many past winners return to the harem. The cycle has gone on long enough that it thinks it accumulated enough past winners for the tables to turn and a harem is inevitable. Hayato will correct the mistakes of his ancestors and accept everyone. This is how his grandmother returns to be his daughter too, because the cycle finally achieves it's harem and doesn't stop removing singular winning girls that want a harem ending.Hayato's daughter will have many half-siblings.

I'm not sure what could justify only having some at the start and near the end, or otherwise very limited appearances and censored the rest of the time. This is one of the manga I really liked. One strong point for it was that every girl felt like part of a family to each other, so having not that much drama was nice. Most readers all had a girl they liked a lot and rooted for, I can see that there isn’t love lost between them. There’s no turncoating, drama, and there isn’t much heart break to go around. It’s all settled up to this very moment, and washed away. I won’t pretend the arrival of the winning girl was sound, but I understand (for some meta reasons and tiny hints) why Akane was chosen and not other girls. Truth be told, this manga was more about the latter part of the word “romcom”. Romance wasn’t the primary driver of the series despite the setup enacted in the season 1 cliffhanger. It was more so the antics and the cast being neat to read about. Not many are enjoyable and carried with a light heart as this manga. The girls being cute and endearing was also a good part of it, watching their camaraderie and the black saints made this nice to keep up with. I liked the threads and the conversation about the series, so I won’t place much weight in how this ends. Even though this was the first time a girl I rooted for actually won, lol
