Their relationship did progress but it wasn't as direct as previous arc. Now he feels worthy to stand by their sides which will ultimately unlock his romantic feelings because his self worth is growing.

Sakura has screentime but with Miwa. But Yuu saw girls as potential romantic partners for the first time after their confessions. Sakura wasn't even there. And she's still not present in this arc about Yuu accepting himself as worthy as standing by their sides.
Miwa I think does have the best connection with Yuu, she always cared about family even before they got closer and if you took Prez out of the equation she probably would be the “winner” with the heart of the beast thing.

Male authors write for Hikikomori teenage and young adult men as their primary audience. So the male protagonist reflects the same pathetic traits. Like SAO, Rent A Girlfriend and Mushoku Tensei Female authors write thinking about a cute love story they want. So the male protagonist is generally very likable and potentially cuter than the girls.
