What you should do is march into the living room while they're in the middle of watching, stand in front of the tv, and start loudly explaining your case over the show. They'll be forced to hear you out.If that doesn't convince them, offer to watch it with them and start pointing out and criticizing everything wrong with the show while it's playing. Finally if neither of those work, you can always try the tested rolling around the floor, screaming and crying until you get your way technique.
