is this arguably the worst anime ever made?
No, that's Pon no Michi
>>283211544this anime screams pseudo-elitism. anyone who likes this is a poser ass zoomer who has 5 backlogs in his first semester
>>283211558Truth detonation
weak bait m8
>>283211544Any anime can arguably be the worst anime ever made if you make really bad arguments.
>>283211544No, that would be the isekai anime that keeps getting remade several times every season
>>283211544Honestly, I’d argue The Tatami Galaxy might be one of the most overrated anime ever made. It hides behind rapid-fire dialogue and stylistic eccentricity to give the illusion of depth, but there’s very little emotional or narrative substance beneath the surface. The protagonist’s endless self-pity and circular monologues feel more like an exercise in frustration than meaningful introspection. It’s an anime that mistakes density for brilliance and quirkiness for character. Watching it feels less like engaging with art and more like sitting through a self-satisfied lecture on how clever it thinks it is.
>>283211558It's okay to admit you don't have the emotional maturity to handle a show like this. Not every story has a clear hero or a happy ending, and that can be scary for people who need their fiction to be simple. You'll get there eventually.

>>283211544I'm very bad at ranking the low end of anime because if I don't like something I don't watch it so I spend very little time thinking about it.At worst I end up dropping series that started good but went to shit. It'd have to fuck up pretty much right at the end for me to have a strong memory of it being bad.
>>283211612I genuinely can't tell if this is bait, well done

thread full of EOPs trying to out-pseud each otherliterally fighting over who has the most "correct" bad tasteone retard posts a youtube comment tier analysis of a show that wasn't even mentionedthe rest are just listing off items from the /a/ hate-boner checklist (fate, isekai, whatever)This is what happens when your entire personality is just a curated list of anime you consume. Touch grass you fucking losers.
>>283211544No, not even remotely.>>283211558This post reeks of the exact pseudo-elitism it accuses the anime of, as derived from taking the opposite position as considered superior.

>>283211544I watched Yojouhan Shinwa Taikei back in 2011. I was a noob and thought it was a masterpiece and the best thing ever. Recently, I rewatched it and came to realize that it was just the wannabe-elitist in me thinking this show is any good. It's basically the same as Sword Art Online, just the other end of the same shit-stick.The story of this series is identical to Endless Eight from Suzumiya Haruhi S02. Only this time it is apparently meaningful and deep and provokes some thoughts in people. All I see is yet another teenage drama aimed for people who are lost in life, executed in style over substance manner so people who wouldn't like it could just be told they didn't get it.Tatami Galaxy focuses on a man who is practicing escapism in a timeloop and dwelling on self-pity. The main difference is the comfort which has changed from "it's all good now" to "pretty much everyone else fucked it up too." The characters are the worst part of this show. They are such an empty shells it's almost as if the viewer is supposed to put their own personality and buddies + high school crush in these shells and act like this is me. This is so me. Just like Kirito and his harem.Back in 2011, I thought Yuusa Masaki was god. A gift to the anime industry. After seeing everything he has ever done, I can only call him a try-hard attempt of being the next Satoshi Kon. So try-hard even Netflix wanted to hire the guy. Speak of mainstream appeal. Also, I am pretty sure this series was created for western weebs in purpose of trolling. Why else would a male main character be called Watashi instead of Boku.I recommend Yojouhan Shinwa Taikei to 15-20 year old audience, this will help you feel less shit about your past mistakes and deal with them. Make sure to never rewatch this, tho, you will/might only come to see what I am now seeing.
>>283211699>scrolls through /a/>sees people discussing an anime i haven't watched>know i have to post something to feel superior>brain cycles through its three available opinions>isekai bad>fate bad>shounen bad>lands on number three>types "shounenshit exist" with a profound sense of satisfaction>i have contributed
>>283211711This is a fascinatingly transparent post. Let me tell you what happened.Around 2011, you were probably 17-19 years old. You were intelligent but socially awkward, and you poured your identity into the media you consumed. Discovering The Tatami Galaxy felt like a revelation. It wasn't just a cartoon; it was proof that you were different, that you had a sophisticated, nuanced worldview that others didn't. It resonated with your feeling of being "lost" because, like all teenagers, you were. You didn't just like the show; you were the show. It was a pillar of the personality you were trying to build. Now, it's over a decade later. You're approaching 30. The life you imagined for yourself back then, the one full of intellectual conversations, artistic pursuits, and a "rose-colored campus life", never materialized. You're probably working a dead-end office job, your social circle has shrunk, and you feel a profound sense of stagnation. The optimism of your youth has curdled into a deep, quiet bitterness. So, you decided to rewatch it. You had to. You needed to go back and retroactively kill the person you used to be, because his memory is a constant, painful reminder of everything you failed to become. Your entire deconstruction of the show is a meticulous, desperate attempt to justify your own life's trajectory. You have to believe it's "style over substance" because if it's not, then the problem wasn't the show, it was you. You have to call Masaki a "try-hard" because you resent his success in a creative field you likely abandoned. You have to frame your cynicism not as a personal failure, but as the enlightened endpoint of maturity. You're not seeing the show for what it is. You're seeing it through a decade of accumulated disappointment. This post has nothing to do with anime, and everything to do with you.
>>283211721Anything that seems to have a modicum of merit is better than shounenshit. But you're correct that I haven't watched Tatami Galaxy yet; should I?
>>283211544i'd have liked if it had a dub
ITT: Nobody watched Tatami galaxyThere's nothing pretentious about a retard trying to think on ways to lure his crush to his bed. It's about as mundane as it is the rest of the author novels, the visuals might be quite colorful and eccentric but that's from the artist, even Uchouten Kazoku might have more depth than Tatami Galaxy due to japanese folklore and family drama.
>>283211544Anything is arguably anything
What a shit thread
>>283211681And this post perceives quite profusely of the very utmost pretentious pseudo-aristocratic paramount snobbery, although remarkably of a possibly meta-ironic superposition, speculatively narrating.
>>283211544the movie was better. the girl as the protagonist is way more entertaining
>>283211544No, its good and a worthwhile watch, but like a lot of arthouse or "serious" anime it has very little rewatch value. Ironically enough shows like this tend to lack the cultural impact and depth of much more frivolous shows, so there's often not even anything worth discussing. Look at this thread, it just has people arbitrarily taking positions either defending or trashing it, but the characters, themes or other elements of the show aren't being discussed. Meanwhile for example open up any arbitrary Evangelion thread and no more than 10 posts in you'll have at least two blog posts earnestly discussing the characters and their motivations.
>>283211558>who has 5 backlogs in his first semesterwhat does this even mean
>>283211711>is series was created for western weebs in purpose of trolling. The book was written back in 2004
>>283211544Steins;Gate and Demon Slayer are shittier. Tatami Galaxy is actually a pretty good anime.
>>283212048>"serious" anime it has very little rewatch value.I disagree. Serious anime usually do have good rewatch value since you can understand some of the aspects that you might have missed on the first viewing and it's easier to understand some of the characters. >so there's often not even anything worth discussing. Look at this thread, it just has people arbitrarily taking positions either defending or trashing it, but the characters, themes or other elements of the show aren't being discussedThat says more about /a/ than the anime itself. You can easily find more threads that discuss naruto character rather than threads that discuss giant robo characters. It doesn't mean the former is worth discussing more than the later. /a/ is just not that good nowadays and this thread makes it pretty obvious.
