While she is allowed to pretend to be human, killing rival gangs with the don's permission, she begins resenting the power-dynamic that demonkind present over humans, even if she doesn't immediately realize that's what that is. She ends up emotionally attached to a group of civillians she got to know in her time-off (she thinks she's being manipulative and clever), only for the mafia to kill them to make it clear that the demon is their property and isn't allowed to do anything without the don's permission. Around this time, she comes to grips with how she, either through evolution, mutation, or repeated traumatic-brain injuries, has developed human emotions.Then she makes a plot to betray the mafia and gets revenge against the serial-killer for eating her friends, and then fucks off into the woods to become a lady-of-the-lake type figure.

Also that is a contentious point regarding fae folk and Elves, are we basing this purely on Norse and Germanic legends? Is Albion to be considered? What about the Irish Tuatha Dé Danann? The Wild Hunt? You cannot simply separate them neatly between Elves and Fae.
