The scale of the conflict is way TOO BIG for a short manga. They should have used some cultists or something instead of fucking aliens
We are already finished volume 1, apparently Yuka cancer and aliens conflict (and yuji mahito) will be solved in just a few chapters kek
It's better not to count on gege again since he has too much of a shit taste to make jjk big again

This week's chapter was boring as hell. Very few people, especially in Japan, care about these aliens, since they were never part of the main series and their ties to the jujutsu world and the rest of the popular cast are basically null. We could have gotten more stuff with Yuji and his friends to finally flesh out their interactions, some cool Heian flashbacks, or even some funny sidestories about all those characters Gege never really characterized well, but nope. He had to go with aliens and Yutamaki kids, one of which will soon die of cancer. Absolutely pathetic.
>>
>>283258181
I don't know what he was thinking, really. Even the current plot about foreigners and coexistence is outdated, since Japan is fed up with the hordes of immigrants and tourists that land on their shores every month. The timeskip removed any chance of seeing beloved characters again (even if Yuji comes back for a few chapters, what is he gonna do? He's old as fuck), and everything feels disconnected and incoherent, probably because it's supposed to be such a short run. If Jump wanted Gege to print them more money, they clearly failed.

Exactly. Fans would have been much more appreciative of this spinoff had Gege taken some time to write more interesting arcs for the popular characters, resolve loose threads and clarify some things, and make people spend more time in the main setting BEFORE focusing on a completely different story with a 70 years timeskip.

I read a comment by a popular Japanese artist who was asked why he doesn't draw fanart for Modulo, and he replied: "[Gege] could have used this time and money to give us more stuff with the characters we love. Modulo doesn't awaken anything in me." which is pretty much the overall sentiment about this manga.
>>
>Tranny retards can't tell modulo is just a setup for the actual new arc
>>
What the fuck is wrong with Gege
>He finally gave more downtime and interactions
>He finally gave a detailed backstory
>On characters we don't give a shit about when the OG JJK characters desperately needed it. Especially for Yuji and Megumi
Like I'm sure 50% of Megumi's slander would just go away if we got to know about his past with Tsumiki more than just a single page
>>
>>283258550
>>283258181
He's so stubborn on his golden children that it hampered everything else

Hell, Yuka and Tsurugi aren't immune either. One is about to get Junpei'd and the other is just to shill Maki because he idolizes her.
>>
I mean. I don't think it's weird he's doing this for Modulo. After all, we need a reason to care
But I think the problem is that THIS is still connected to JJK meaning you gotta wonder why he couldn't just do this to expand the characters people actually like (yes, Megumi is still very popular so shut up agendafaggots.) . It would've made JJK to be a more complete series instead of feeling like it's swiss cheese with all the lacking informaiton.

Like for a supposed "main four", Did Nobara and Gojo ever talk? Was Megumi actually close to Gojo? Hell, Yuji should be acknowledging Kenjaku
>>
>>283258690
Yeah. the main problem is that this should've been a new work entirely instead of just slapping JJK onto it. Knowing Gege, he's not gonna bring in Yuji at all. Megumi might've died a pathetic death for reals. Nobara just doesn't exist
>>
Megumi should have been less of a giant fucking pussy and fucked his sister
>>
>>283258550
>>283258591
Gege has to concede at one point. Yuta is popular, sure. But in the end, people still like Yuji and even Megumi more than Yuta.
Maki is just generic boss girl. The fucking misogynist being more iconic than her is just embarrassing.
>>
>>283255615
Don't worry, this is just a test run to see if the Gege Iwasaki team works and if it sells. If both are good I bet they're gonna do some more jjk stuff together.
>>
>>283258784
Geto is also more popular than Yuta and he's been dead since like forever
>>
>>283258805
It can't not sell.
>>
>>283258805

>>
>>283258784

>>
>>283258784
maki is not even a generic girl boss after getting her heavenly restriction. she is just a violence dispenser and nothing else
>>
Gege needs therapy or something to get over the fact that his editor was right and nobody cares about Yuta, Maki or their stupid grandkids. The only hype surrounding this manga is from that one Yuji panel and the possibility of Mahito coming back.
>>
>>283259349
Even Mahito is getting way more fanart in one day than Yuka and Tsurugi have gotten since their introduction
>>
>>283258690
>Did Nobara and Gojo ever talk?
I think she hugged him one time when he promised he would bring them to the fancy parts of Tokyo, and there is that funny scene where the trio tries to clean up his super expensive shirt, but nothing more, really. Mappa even had to add that scene with Gojo pretending to be Megumi's violin teacher to add some "meat" to their interactions, but even then Nobara and Gojo are just suffering the summer heat in silence before Yuji runs to them.

He scarred her and Megumi for life when he came up with that prank of Yuji jumping out of the box after dying. He's depicted as the cool, reliable teacher, but he actually leaves them to take care of things all by themselves more than he spends time with them effectively training and preparing them for the jujutsu world.

>Was Megumi actually close to Gojo?
There are some short scenes where it's made clear Gojo genuinely took good care of him, with Megumi acting like his usual standoffish self even as a child, but that's it.
>>
>>283258945
It will sell, but not as much as a decent JJK spinoff set in the "original" universe would have. If the pace and story don't get interesting soon, sales will dwindle. No one gives a shit about these grandkids or the aliens, they just want the old characters to come back, and if Gege doesn't deliver, people will realize they're never going to appear and abandon the manga altogether.

The only one who successfully pulled that off was Toriyama, but at least he managed to fill up some blanks in his beloved characters' lives before adding aliens and grandkids to the mix. The JJK cast seems to live in a void, and that's even more true for these Yutamaki grandkids. They don't go to school, they don't have any friends, we don't know their most basic tastes, they're weak but the government told them to take care of the alien refugees, and said alien refugees don't seem to surprise them at all, as if they have been knowing each other since forever.

>frequented pachinko parlors

That's it. How can you grow attached to such empty characters? Gege isn't really giving us anything to love.
>>

>They don't go to school, they don't have any friends, we don't know their most basic tastes
Gege really hated the school setting. They ARE in Jujutsu High but ofc we don't see them doing anything there. Even in the OG we didn't see Yuji going to classes there, but at least we knew more of him.

There's also the problem with the siblings relationship too

You'd think with Yuka getting cancer, shouldm't you know

>>

Gege must have a gigantic inferiority complex or something. He still seethes at his more successful social butterfly brother for some reason.
>>
>>283260068
He based Yuji on his brother.

I don't need to explain why he's salty as fuck how that went when it turned out Yuji is just more popular than whatever he did with Yuta
>>
>>283259891
There's another problem too with Modulo

Where are the other sorcerers? we know they still exist like with Shark guy but how about the others? Assuming Yuji, Megumi, and Nobara managed to procreate. Their descendants should be doing something too. But nah, it's all up to Incomplete HR and Terminal Cancer Patient to save the day

>That shit is like hereditary assuming it's not Mahito related.
It being Mahito related would make even less sense, he's supposed to be a curse stuck in the soul limbo who apparently still refuses to go either south or north. He shouldn't be able to influence the living world at all. But I can see Gege pulling some shit like that and contradicting his own worldbuilding.

I 100% agree with the fact Yuka's reveal came out of nowhere. We don't know if Tsurugi and their family truly don't know about it, but it seems that's the case, there would have been clues since from the start otherwise. How did she even find out? Painful headaches? During a routine checkup? She just has six months to live, so it must be aggressive as hell: how can she still fight and jump around?

>Gege really hated the school setting. They ARE in Jujutsu High but ofc we don't see them doing anything there. Even in the OG we didn't see Yuji going to classes there, but at least we knew more of him.
Doesn't surprise me at all, a lot of things gege added to the story look more like something his editor forced Gege's hand to it.
Sadly Gege was uninterested at the start so forcing his head did nothing.
>>
>>283260684
>So sukuna, tengen and possibly even kenny are just ayys and shit? Is he going to explain everything about curses and sorcery with just "lol ayy lmao"?
That seems to be it. It's not clear yet, but one of the main theories is that a faction of the aliens managed to come to Earth centuries ago, landed in Japan, and influenced everything. Sukuna literally looks like a deformed alien/human hybrid, Tengen is identical to that other alien serving the king, and said king is dressed exactly like Sukuna, white hakama (why???) and all.

I don't know if you're familiar with it, but it's similar to what happens in the videogame series Mother: a guy stole secret knowledge about psychic powers from a group of aliens, brought it to Earth, and years later his descendants and other kids had developed those same psychic powers.

What really makes me mad is that there was no need for this at all. The only explanation we needed was that sorcery was tied to cursed energy, and Gege had access to a goldmine of cool references thanks to the Buddhist and Shinto influences. It made the series feel more grounded. Now it's just "aliens did it!"
>>
>>283259891
>The only one who successfully pulled that off was Toriyama, but at least he managed to fill up some blanks in his beloved characters' lives before adding aliens and grandkids to the mix.
Ironically iirc the only reason Toriyama didn't continue with Gohan as the main character is because he liked writing goku more so that didn't last kek
but yeah it's funny how so many manga and anime like inuyasha, boruto and etc try that same setup when it's obvious by now only toriyama made it work
>>
>>283261087
>>283260020
Nobara, Yuji, and Megumi never had a class together because by the time Nobara was integrated into the school, Yuji was with Nanami. And when Yuji came back, it was already the kyoto goodwill event

Everything was going too fast for the school part to even matter, hell, people were surprised Kusakabe is actually a teacher there for the second years
>>
>>283261087
He admitted he wanted to start the series with the Culling Games, but the editor convinced him people first needed to get attached to his characters and have some kind of backstory and worldbuilding available to get interested. As soon as the first introductory arc and the Shibuya Incident were over, he fired that editor and began to work on the battle royale arc. That's why the tone is so different from the rest of the manga, and the characters are even less characterized than before. Gege can write good "low action" scenes, but he just wants to draw people fight and kill each other.
>>
You can count the number of times the supposed "main trio" hang out together on just two fingers
>>
>>283261223
The phone games are the only ones trying to fill some holes. In the latest one Nanami is abducted and brought to a sorcerer prison, which Yuji & Co. (plus some new characters) have to infiltrate to save him. No idea when this is supposed to happen in the canon timeline, but it's the only way to show that these poor students and their teachers actually care for each other, that each death in the manga/anime was a terrible blow, and justify everyone's reaction every time someone breathed their last.

>>
>>283261581
Yes, it happened, but now Modulo implied that's not what caused Sukuna to look like that. Before Modulo, it was believed Sukuna's weird looks were caused by his "sin". He's literally two people fused together, his technique revolves around culinary terms (in Japanese he even speaks using culinary words sometimes), his Malevolent Shrine has mouths everywhere, he's the embodiment of sheer hunger and starvation. It's all connected to Buddhist beliefs (eating red animal meat + cannibalism were two of the biggest sins in Heian Japan) and people liked that tie to religious horror.

After the first chapter of Modulo, everyone went "It was alien all along...?" because the king of the alien literally looks like a non-deformed Sukuna, one of his servants is Tengen 2.0, and they are confirmed to be talented sorcerers.

>Only Mei Mei/Ui Ui got away with their fates.
>The kino Incest sibiling shota/onee-sama couple gets to live rich and healthy while every other sibiling gets killed

>Mai
It'd be a lesbian relationship so it doesn't count.
>Tsumiki
They didn't go through with it so she died, it's an ebin reference to Drakengard you see.

Imagine the uproar if it reveals Ui Ui is the only one from the OG sorcerers to come back

JJK Culling Game anime advance screening movie will also include:

>Yuji's parents reveal
>“So start by saving me Itadori”
>Yuta Maki reunion
>Tengen intro

Given it's confirmed that the advanced screening would include the first two episodes of S3. I think we have an idea on the pacing now

I guess
>Ep 3-4: Maki genocide arc
>Ep 5-7: Hakari recruitment arc
>Ep 8-13: Yuji and Megumi's colony I doubt Sendai will be here

>>Ep 3-4: Maki genocide arc
Kubo's favorite JJK fight, by the way

Huh, any reason why? Is it because it's a wanton massacre?

>“The story follows Akutami's signature flashbacks that alternate between fact and fiction as he does his best to avoid explanations of complex Cursed Techniques, a general feature of Jujutsu battles; it’s followed by a succession of incredible-looking CTs easy to understand at a glance and a series of battles filled with so much gore it makes me jealous of how Jump’s standards have been relaxed; along with a mountains of corpses.
>The transition towards Naoya’s battle is exhilarating and perfect. THIS is what it means to be in the artist’s zone.”

this is why sukuna should've won
>aliens landing on earth while its halfway into its century of curses
kino
not like this shit

Kind of funny to think that nobara might have just straight up killed mechamaru if they'd fought during the goodwill event

Could she actually get close before being burned to a crisp?

The problem with Modulo is that the concept seems like it's going to be a big long running manga but the thing is that
It also feels way too small at the same time with barely any characters. Like, is it really just Yuta's grandkids? What about the generation before them? By all means, they should be stronger on average than Yuka and Tsurugi but apparently they're the only ones capable of dealing with E Ts
>>
>>283261807
somehow that makes using aliens as a stand in even lamer
>>
>>283264722
Pretty much this. You think Gege being the writer would fix things but apparently. He has his own brand of stupidity at this point
>>
>>283265120
Gege being the writer is the reason why it's so shit. He should've just let his editor do the writing.
>>
>>283264722
>they're the only ones capable of dealing with E Ts
It's more like the ETs are on a surveillance/diplomatic mission, and the twins know enough to be useful without being super high risk

If they paired them up with a special grade, there's a decent chance they would just die

GOONING TO MAHITOSCHIZOS FLAT CHEST

Tengen was always associated with stars, so indirectly with space so there's that. Sukuna being an alien looks like some bullshit Gege came up because he likes over the top plot twists.

The thing with the school setting is unrelated to what you said. The school setting exists because of the editor who worked on the very first chapter of JJK0 and nothing else, it's just that Gege didn't want the school setting but he was forced to introduce it to please his narrow minded editor from back then. Same editor who wanted to make JJK0 as generic and boring as possible like replacing Rika by Oda Nobunaga because little boys find that cool I guess.

All these things are terrible long term:
>Dragon Ball is dog shit and keeps being dog shit after Toriyama's death, which influenced plenty of shonen manga that came out after it
>Kishimoto is a very good artist but a horrible writer, Naruto also has a huge influence on shonen manga for the worse and if Kishimoto showed us how much of a horrible writer he was all along we would have been spared from his shitty manga and plenty of other similar manga
>Gege's good ideas were messed up by editors as much as his bad ideas were. JJK before HI is painfully boring and I'm only glad I forced myself to keep watching it for the next, much better arcs
