Shinkai is overrated; his stories and plots are boring, simple and repetitive.
Miyazaki's work is ivory towel pretentious "intellectual" "art".

Shinkai is only good in visual stuff.
Your name was a decent and likable movie, the garden of words is the only truly good one.
5 cm at second was a borefest, the girl of the meteo was a shitshow in the final act and Suzume was a weird weird movie with tons of incongruences

The KnY movie is the kind you go to the cinema to watch it with friends/family. I don't I saw a single person under 20 in there (more women than usual for shounen though). It looks beautiful enough to be worth seeing just for that.
