Toriyama was amazing at drawing.
>>

What do you mean wa--oh fuck.
>>
>>283256685
I'm actually fucking mad hasbro was too incompetent and/or cheap to have him draw a series of lands.
>>
>>283256685
He's amazing at action. There are artists who's good at illustrations and there are artists who's good at panel choreography. Toriyama belongs in the 2nd group and thank god we have him to show the world what good action is supposed to look like

What
>>
>>283256685
Nah, actually he was really bad at it and that's why nobody remembers Dragon Ball anymore. Sad!

Are you implying that Toriyama wasn't also good at illustrations?
Look at picrel, this is beyond 99% what any mangaka could draw
>>
>>283256685
he wasn't, go away spic
>>
>>283257516
I'd say closer to 60% rather than 99%.
Within the professional manga world in Japan a lot of people are saying the standards have risen quite a bit. Many talented newcomers are coming swinging out of the gate with quite polished art.
Kei Urana's Gachiakuta is one example
>>
>>283257516
Not at all, and looking at my post again I should've used excellent instead of good. Artists like Oh Great excels for example is great at illustrations and good at action but never reached Toriyama's heights in drawing an organic fight
>>
>>283257516
People confuse a simple art style with a lack of skill in certain areas. If there was no crazy time limit on their work, then most would be able to show off their skill by adding a lot more detail
>>
>>283257751
That's exactly what separates classes of artists. Hojo Tsukasa would pump out pages of penmanship on a weekly basis that's still unbelievable to me, but he's never made an action scene that could match Toriyama over his entire run of City Hunter.
Again, that's not saying Hojo's bad at doing action - he's in fact very good. Different horses,

He was. Dragon Ball is such an easy read. With so many other manga I find myself skimming over action and double spreads because I get tired of trying to repeatedly discern exactly what’s happening underneath all the screen tones, greyscale texture, and onomatopoeia. But never the with toriyama’s work.

For someone who preferred his gags, he was remarkably good at creating action spectacle...
Maybe that's why I liked Buu so much as a child.

Torishima has commented that one of the main reasons he wanted Dragonball do do a battle tournament arc was because Toriyama was so good at drawing battle choreography, so such an arc would play to his strengths.

hasbro owns wotc the creators of magic the gathering. the baseline ressource of the game are lands and every set has a "series" of lands visuallizing the world's nature. more and more they create collectors items by letting famous artists make stuff. so that anon wanted to see toriyama's spin on the mtg lands, which there are five of and they all are supposed to convey a certain set of emotions. pic related for example are six different lands for each of the five land types.

What about nodays?
>>
>>283257751
not just time limit, also sometimes, yes, people actually choose a simple artstyle over detailed one despite being able to do "better"

>Official illustration for a chibi gag manga
>It looks like an rpg illustration
Daaaaamn! It looks like this illustration was made during Chrono Trigger era where he worked as a character designer.

Is there a torrent with all his official illustrations?

Despite how shit it is as a whole, 7DS actually emulated DB type action really well. At least before the abilities and designs started being clusterfuck messes.

Akira Toriyama was amazing at drawing mechanical objects such as cars and futuristic vehicles. The capsule technology in Dragon ball was always cool

Considering the amount of people in Jump's current lineup that can't handle a simple color page you aren't wrong
