He's a "robot" yet he urinates in fear, that is definitely worthy of sample taking and investigation. Whence does that fluid come from? What is its composition? Does he have robotic kidneys filtering artificial blood and filling a mechanical bladder? Does he require liquid intake to function, then? Tsukushi must be planning an exceptionally complicated confrontation further down the abyss, otherwise there wouldn't be much point in introducing Rimeyo.Speaking of which, how did Rimeyo not already catch up to Srajo? I have been watching this with someone who also has not known anything about this anime or the manga or really anything about the author despite both of us being in our thirties, but because of the drama and corny response from so many people crying about how weird it is, we have downloaded everything that is currently available to watch and have been grinding through the content. Yesterday we finished S1 and are going to hit the movie today, followed by S2 tomorrow. Maybe I am too desensitized, but nothing has quite gotten me yet or made me piss or shit myself. We will see though. I guess metaphorically if the show and movies were an abyss themselves, I'm not quite in the deep of it all or caught up to you all yet. Clearly the author, being the fat bastard he is, has some unique work going on upstairs behind the concerning concrete walls that makes up his skull. None the less, he is amusing in what he creates.
I don't know anything about this pseudo-Nanachi creature he's been using for his stream thumbnails recently, but I have a strong urge to have sex with it.
Can someone explain to me how the author outlived the Berserk author? I'm curious now what is the expected lifespan for a mangaka
I had my parents bring me to Barnes and Noble for my birthday to pick up a bunch of the physical MIA manga volumes, and Volume 1 wasn't even wrapped in plastic. It was just there. I took them excitedly to the checkout counter, and the girl at the register put Volume 1 on top of the stack, SEAMLESSLY opened the manga STRAIGHT to the image of Riko strung up naked and slapped the receipt right there like she was bookmarking it for me.It was one of those young green-haired punky-looking girls with anime and manga-themed pins all over her jacket or shirt or whatever, too. I'm pretty sure I saw a Bleach pin and an Akatsuki/Anbu mask pin on there with like a Gengar or something on her getup. She didn't flip to it like, "Gee, how lewd," she opened STRAIGHT to it and looked deadass right at me and put the receipt there. Nobody said shit but I am 1000% sure everyone saw, she practically flashed the page. Less than a 1/160 chance of doing that at random.
>>283309149how would be that lewd?
>>283306928Sex with Srajo
I stopped finding this anime the least bit interesting when I realized the majority of the characters don't really have actual motivations, the uniqueness of the setting doesn't have any explanation--it's all just a pretext for the author to act out her fetishes on prepubescent characters. Like how you can only descend into the abyss, you can't go back up, even a few steps. OK....why, though? Because it's an easy way to inflict physical pain and psychological distress on the young characters, which is the point. Bondrewd experimented on children because...why, exactly? Were there no other ways, no more efficient ways, for him to get what he wanted than to dissect a little girl and put her organs into a suitcase? Dude's completely opaque as a character. This is what bad writing looks like. When you try to pick apart character motivations in pornography, it looks exactly the same.
>>283309429It's demonstrated by Ozen that those resurrected by the Curse-Warding vessel (like Riko) are compelled to descend the abyss. So Riko's motivation is magical brainwashing and then she pulls along a couple of rudderless characters with her.The magic of the abyss very often operates based off desire (this is how white whistles are formed and it's how wish-granting eggs work), which is why psychologically manipulating people into being a human sacrifice at Idofront works. Imported foreign orphans are the cheapest way to do that especially since science relies on repeat experiments.I think you're still right to say that fetishising 12-year-olds is central to the work, but I think Tsukushi has made it work well.
>>283309429Look, I won't deny the presence of "magical realm," but that particular angle of attack is just... wrong. Yes, Tsucc obviously inserts pervy shit for the sake of being pervy. The toilet-kun scene or the penis gun that you have to jack off are pretty clear examples of that. Could have mentioned those. But to act like character motivations are weak in MIA or like the whole bit with the cartridges wasn't well-written is just misplaced. Let's look at each criticism individually:>why can't you backtrack, seems like an easy way to inflict painIt's a unique difficulty the characters face that makes each step and each location count more. Also, having to plan out and carefully take each step is reminiscent of dungeon-crawling in Etrian Odyssey, which MIA draws some serious inspiration from. >the cartridge thing was just torture porn and opaque characterization The cartridge thing was like when some guy at the D&D table or in a forum discussing a series' worldbuilding asks some INSANE shit like, "what if I surgically ablated the orphans down to the bare-minimum organs needed to stay alive, could I use them as curse decoys so my character doesn't get affected when backtracking?" except the DM or the forum moderator, instead of dismissing the idea as demented, actually fucking runs with it. Bondrewd is finding exploits. He's an epic pro gamer. And I think it was pretty well-established that his concepts of love and humanity are twisted by what he underwent body-hopping. We do vivisections and Unit 731 crap IRL, too. It's not even unrealistic. To expand, though, one of Made In Abyss's STRONG points is in having compelling character motivations and in having characters who genuinely feel emotionally warm and close to one another. Maybe it's because of how much "show, don't tell" there is, but the party we follow feels like they truly give a shit about each other in ways that I don't always see in anime. And it's in the SMALLEST things, too.

What's the most suggestive subtle detail in MiA and why is it the handles on Prushka's hat?
>>283309429>OK....why, though?Because the editor thought it was a good way to add tension.>Bondrewd experimented on children because...why, exactly? To find a way to circumvent the curse.>Were there no other ways, no more efficient waysNo, because the curse has been showed to consistently react to human conciousness.>This is what bad writing looks likeWhat does good writing look like?>When you try to pick apart character motivations in pornography, it looks exactly the same. No, when you try to disect a story the result is the same. >>283315864He set up Riko to be raped by monsters in the alley so that the party would have to use another wish-granting egg to heal her. He wanted Irumyuui 2.0 methinks
>>283309599>>283309717>>283311027There's also the fact that the entire plot is about the self-destructive power of curiosity. Delving deeper into a death trap just to see what's inside is the ultimate example of that. It's a very compelling thought experiment. If you had the opportunity to make discoveries that change the world with a low change of making it back alive along the journey, would you take the risk for the discovery or let the mysteries remain unsolved. Riko and her companions are not just driven to answer the mysterious of the Abyss. They live for it. They were born for it. Made in Abyss as a story just wouldn't work without the constant thread of a gruesome death serving as their ultimate constant obstacle. Made in Abyss is the quintessential example of a man vs nature story. The Abyss itself is a character, and it's the main villain.

>>283326645False. Porn doesn't trend outwards. The body is designed to endure orgasm, it's a natural biological function that does not naturally lead to escalation. You may as well say food addicts spiral, it's just what food users do. No, idiot, it's a hunger that is satiable and when satisfied enters remission. Food addiction can occur, but it's a rarity, descended from poor habits. Even then it is rarer to spiral to any significant degree. Porn "addiction" is similar; you might jack off more, but nothing at all indicates you will ever proceed to stranger material to jack off to. It is a fallacious slippery slope argument.

>>283325929Made In Abyss is unironically the series that got me back into anime and manga. It's legitimately a beautiful work of art, Tsukushi genuinely inspires me as a person, and I'm so happy to be around to see it as it's being written. It makes me glad to be alive and to witness it. I also think that Made In Abyss is genuinely a positive force in the realm of anime and manga because it sets an example. Anime and manga are suffering from a severe normiefication and from a problem of catering to people who want to censor the art form. Made In Abyss is unabashedly weird and I'm happy to support it because of that. It's the first series in like a decade I'll proudly wear and display physical merch for. Been a while since I actually liked a series that much instead of just sort of passively consuming it out of boredom. I not only hope that it filters out the sort of people who would be filtered by the weird anime bullshit, I hope it succeeds even harder than it already does so that the people filtered are outweighed in this community by weirdos again. >but it's hornyGood. Made In Abyss's weird, booru-tier fetish shit is unironically presented less garishly and is more integral to the work itself than 90% of fanservice. It never felt sloppily hammered-onto the work for me. I also think that there's a very real element of skinship that you're HARD missing out on if you sperg out every time even a little horny is present.

Better to return your signals to a compatible place than to be dispersed into the forcefield after being eaten. Though, from the villagers perspective, it was just better to become part of the princess than be eaten by beasts. From Faputa's perspective, it was redemption for the souls/signals she was about to make her own. Faputa always was the sum total of the village, of Iru's wish. The villagers were always meant to return and become part of her. Their longing for the bottom of the abyss were always meant to become part of the hollow princess and spur her to reach the bottom. For Wazukyan, he saw a future where a child of the abyss, made from and by it would conquer it. However, the longing of souls to "return to the cradle" originating from the abyss since time immemorial would not show up in such a child. Had Faputa not been born with a desire to destroy her mothers parasites, and had the villagers not desired to return to Faputa due to the crisis of the monsters appearing, Faputa would not have been gifted the "longing" that all abyss touched souls have. Everything was set in motion so that a royalty of the abyss was born with a human longing for it's origin, while that royalty had no lingering attachments and were free to seek her own path. No Iru, no Vueko, only the prince and the promise of adventure. Everything that happened were set up by Wazukyan.

To me its more like his actions led to the outcome that occurred despite his selfish intentions rather than the outcome occurring because it was all according to keikaku. But thats the thing I like most about Wazukyan, is that people can have such differing takes about him and his goals. I'm not even telling you that I think your interpretation is even wrong, I just disagree based on a feeling.

>>283334920everyone loves fluff
>>283334830>I said a few times "this retard needs to die" or "Reg, just annihilate him"
>>283333915Thing about this guy is that he did not force anyone's hand, with a singular exception of preventing Vueko from an hero. Her role was to aid in closing the book on the relationship between Iru and Faputa, she could not die until that had been archived. What Wazukyan did was essentially living life with a permanent luck potion from Harry Potter. I do not think he knew what outcome his prods and guidance would have, or if someone would act as he expected or not. Just that he had to do X or Y for the desired result to occur, and he could not stray from it or it would not come to pass. This many expressions convinces me of this, were he is not pleased with what is happening, but knows it is but a required step in the process. His final words were to say "would not that be nice" when Riko said things would not go the way he wanted. How else are you to interpret that than him having his wish rebuked by their actions would be like atonement for the suffering that was a result of his maneuverings. I'm with Nanachi, wondering just how far he saw, just how far away in the future were his wish nestled. It surely has to due with the very nature of the abyss, the nature of the souls turned to signals, with it's inbuilt "longing" to return after being seeded into the world every 2000 years. Love or hate the guy, whatever change Riko's group brings to the abyss will be a result of Wazukyan's efforts that produced an unfettered royalty of the Abyss.
>>283335329Hear me out: Wazukyan is, at least in part, an expy of Hernan Cortez, and Irumyuui is their La Malinche/Pocahontas/Sacagawea. He is a man in a conquistador's helmet who seeks a fabled City of Gold (El Dorado) with mythical properties (fountain of youth) and who has an extreme philosophy of pressing forward at insane costs (Cortez's "burn your ships" philosophy). He encounters a brown native girl with a loincloth and spear who speaks the local language and who can act as a guide and intermediary for his party, and he brings her into their ranks. He tells his party not to give a shit about what they're leaving behind (their homelands, and eventually even their bodies) in the name of their desires. He's arguably more committed to his own hype and mythos than his own crew are. He winds up using and exploiting a native to achieve his own ends. He's an explorer from a foreign land. He's literally a conquistador. Bro is Spanish-coded.

He understood that becoming something "beyond human" was necessary to continue challenging the Abyss and I think he saw a way to continue to challenging the Abyss in his visions in the form of Faputa, though that was not totally clear to him. Also even if he did see her clearly, Wazukyan never wanted to jump on the Faputa bus like the other villagers did and ironically, became one of the many villagers who didn't get to continue on with her. Maybe Riko village wasn't his exact goal, just an example that Nanachi and Belaf came up with, but I beleive that from the moment Riko Squad entered the village he was attempting to attain a way for him to continue challenging the Abyss of his own volution. And even though he speaks as though Faputa was his intended outcome on his deathbed, Riko and Prushka are able to see through him.

>>283335685Wazukyan only needed to have a single interaction with the crew, and that was to lie and say that a piece of Faputa would allow the crew to barter for Nanachi. The groundwork for Faputa's destruction and absorption of the village was laid back when Reg first met Faputa, Riko was never required for events to transpire. That said, Wazukyan knew he would die, and would have to die to archive his goals. However, as Riko mused, it did not seem right that he would entrust his journey to someone else. That is likely because whatever he has set in motion still involves him. Wazukyan is currently a signal, a soul a part of the forcefield. I'm suspecting that Faputa's function in Wazukyan's vision is to give bodies to all the signals floating in the abyss, much like how Iru did. The village could be seen as a prototype of the sort of abyss he is trying to create. Ever wondered why the author keeps making furry hollows that do not appear in the story? Well, they will soon. Every human drawn to the abyss, from every corner of the world likely have their origin in it. The longing is to return to the cradle so their souls can be recycled and returned to the world. In Wazukyan's abyss, each of these souls are given a blessed body as a true resident of the abyss. To go a bit more out there, every single human who are drawn to the abyss might be the original residents of the golden city, in the time before the abyss became a murder hole. Every 2000 years, the signals/souls are thrown into the world, and they feed the abyss with new bodies. So Riko, Wazukyan, Habo etc. They are all reincarnated inhabitants of the golden city, but in Wazukyan's vision, they attain immortal blessed bodies (though likely bound to the abyss like the villagers were to Iru)
>>283337680Again, interesting take but very out there. A lot of speculation that is impossible for me to agree with or disagree with right now.I will say that I do have a slight feeling we might not have seen Wazykyan's true end goal, or the last of him. But that feeling is dwarfed by the feeling that he simply failed in his own personal ambitions while still enacting a crucial part of a destiny that he was fated to be a part of.

There's one thing I don't understand. Someone please explain it to me.Why didn't Riko try to communicate with Orth? After all, Lyza somehow managed to send information, such as her silhouette, so it is possible. This could have revealed some very uncomfortable facts about Comrade Bond's actions.

>>283330425But why exactly was the battle fought at Ida Fort? Correct me if I'm wrong. Riko's team's primary goal was to reach the bottom of the Abyss, while Bondred's goal was to continue his research. Riko's team's secondary goal was to stop Bond's atrocities, while Bond's secondary goal was to capture Reg for research. The Umbra Hands were weakened by the fight with Srajo's team, and they lost more bodies in the fight with Riko's team. That's why both sides made a non-aggression pact to continue their main goals and give up their secondary ones. Besides, Prushka said not to fight. As for Prushka, in whistle form, she is actually more useful than she is in human form.
>>283356663What's in it for Orth to turn against Bondrewd? Orth's morality is about heroically exploring the Abyss, and its economy is much the same. >>283365142>>283365794Also, if we go off of inferences made from the wards Faputa made from the party's hair clippings, a person's hair can carry the signature of their soul. Remember how she took snips and clippings from everyone to make the wards to keep animals away? The mechanics of that involved overlapping soul signatures. I assume hair and other body parts have ritual power.
