You definitely need to have a different mindset to enjoy slice of life. The same way you enjoy talking with friends, looking at scenery, or drawing, slices of life can be enjoyed much the same way. I consider them to be an entirely different kind of entertainent than something like a book or a normal show. But that does not mean that they suck.

Kids don't do this anymore so they don't get it. They all be on they phones. If you asked "how do you eat a chocolate coronet" they would say "idk google it" and they would find a 15 minute video titled "we talked to the experts to discover the REAL way to eat a chocolate coronet." There's no spontaneous back and forth where you kill time talking bullshit. That way of life does not exist anymore. Every answer to every question is a google search away. There's no need to "waste time" talking about it with your friends.
