This magazine would be fairly good if not for:>This story is at chapter 120>This one at 42>This one at 87>This one at 421>Ahh, this one is at 3, but there isn't even a preview of the first chapter online anywhere like any sane magazine does of every story>Okay, fine, one new serialization starting the latest magazine but looking at the chapter list you can bet it will take 10 issues for a new one>Also, individual chapters aren't sold, only volumesHow do people get into a magazine like this? The art, characters and even the plot from what I can tell of many of these titles that are at chapter 80 don't look bad but who is going to read back 79 chapters of multiple titles and buy all those volumes to start reading a magazine? Are you just expected to start reading it in the middle or something? It's so vastly different from say Princess or Petit Princess where every issue on average starts a new serialization, many are at chapter 2-8 as a consequence and on top of that the first 10 chapters of everything are available for free online, you just have to wait 1 day to read half a chapter for free and can then read it for 3 days before it becomes unavailable again so you can actually get into the magazine.
>Okay, fine, one new serialization starting the latest magazine but looking at the chapter list you can bet it will take 10 issues for a new oneMost of the series are consistent. Only a handful like Allrounders make you wonder if they're actually ongoing or not. Most series should have the first chapters on KadoComi.https://comic-walker.com/label/compaceI've read it for 5 years now and never bothered to catch up with the long running series. As a result I only read 8 series out of the 18 in the latest issue.>Petit PrincessDead magazine is dead.
>>283333170Most magazines I follow I'm only reading 1-2 titles max. Just read what you want. You can pick up more series from that magazine as time goes on if you feel like it it's not going anywhere.
>>283333500Why do you seem to read every single magazine on the planet anon? I think that's both really impressive and really weird. The one I wanted about the bad skill being awakened that just started isn't in there though. It lso occurs to me that Petit Princess's last isd sue was actually in July or something at 100? Did it actually stop publishing? Did the titles move somewhere else? They all just ended on the usual “つづく” as far as I know.>>283333562I would just read the individual titles then to be honest. It's also just a massive hassle to read a 600 page magazine for two titles only.
>>283334413>Why do you seem to read every single magazine on the planet anon?I mainly read the magazines in the BW and FUZ subscriptions, there's only a handful I actively buy each issue. And there's a bunch of included mags I downright stopped reading or never started. Many of the series in Petit Princess ended, the rest got moved to souffle.life/petitprincess/ . I don't quite get why Akita Shoten first bundled all their series in Champion Cross only to start other web manga sites immediately afterwards.>It's also just a massive hassle to read a 600 page magazine for two titles only. You can get the issues downloaded automatically. And during reading you can use the linked table of contents to directly jump where you want.
>>283334502Oh yeah there's a notice in the last issue that it moved there I see now.>souffle.life/petitprincess/>Most of it only shows the latest chapter>Chapters I missed no longer public most of the time.>Also, can't even find an rss feed for new releases though it might be there.Great.On the bright side of things this website is beyond easy to rip from.
>>283335265At least it's not Comic Shiny where they announced that the magazine's cancellation and everything moving to KimiComi on Twitter in early August but only got the news out to the stores in mid September with a final issue that still cost 400 yen.And this was supposed to be a quarterly magazine with volume 9 getting released 3rd of May.
>>283335265>Shit easy to ripAhahaha, I take it all back this website is the shit.It turns out the images are actually still there on the uri one would expect them to be of all the chapters that are no longer public. The reader just doesn't load them but they can still be accessed.Yarggg matey>>283335902You really read every single thing. I find it weird how every time I mention a random magazine you not only read it, but also know the history and all that stuff I don't.
>>283336507With Akita Shoten you're better off waiting for the volumes since they're x1920 and not x1200 garbage.
>>283336764Anon, my screen is 1080 pixels high and I bought it a few months ago. There's a reason they sort of stopped upgrading in practice after 1080. I'm not seeing any pixels personally. There are diminishing returns after a certain size.
>>283338461Get a tablet for reading manga. 1080 is extremely bad.
>>283338854Anon, the only reason one needs higher resolution there is because it's closer to one's face. It's literally first creating a problem and then solving it again by throwing more pixels at it.Sure, some people have 4k screens but most people just realized that after 1920×1080 it stopped mattering. They reached this around 2005 and they are still the most common resolution sold.>>283333562It occurs to me that I did this for a very long time with the very similar Gangan JOKER. I mostly just read it for Satain and there are still a fucktonne of titles in it that started long before I started reading it that I don't read. The difference is that that magazine always has 3-4 one shots at the end and they're often really good.I now read like 8-10 titles or something in it though.I really don't like this very long running format. JOKER also doesn't sell individual chapters so it's really hard to get into the magazine.
>>283339273The problem is that manga is barely readable at x1200 and higher resolutions solve that.I've had a 4k monitor for almost a decade now, I don't understand how people still buy new monitors in 1920x1080. If you're sitting two meters away from the screen then that should be considered unusual.
>>283339454Again, I don't notice any pixels. It's not going to make anything more readable. Also, I hate waiting for volumes. A chapter per month is ideal, 6 months between a volume means one forgets too many things. In fact what &Flower does, which I'm sure you also read somehow, where they publish half chapters every two weeks is even better.
>>283339454Try 30cm.
>>283340690Even at 50cm I can tell the difference between 1080 and 2160 on a 24" display. The larger panels are pointless because you have to sit further away to see the whole thing.
>>283336507Knowing everything about a magazine that launched in 2023 and ended with 10 issues isn't hard. Though Shiny is simply amazing with how much of a shitshow it was:>announced as a yuri love comedy magazine>they have to clarify it's actually yuri & love comedy and one of the series features a guy (with long hair, pic related)>supposed to run quarterly but rarely ever managed to come out in time, sometimes 4 months passed between issues>some authors still didn't manage to finish a chapter in time The way it ended was the cherry on top.
>>283341285Well yeah it obviously depends on screen size I guess.24 inch is far too big for me, at that point I'd just put it a metre away again to see the entire thing. I'm on 17 and that's good enough for me. I wanted to be on 15 in fact but they didn't have those with a good VESA mount.>>283341662It's especially hard if it's a small obscure magazine that ran only for a short time.
That time when Petit Princess included the first chapter of each series in every issue and the whole (digital only) magazine was over twice as big.
>>283342000Well that's useless when they can simply use a q.r. code link to it.I hate magazines that don't have the first chapter for free somewhere though. Most do that nowadays and it really helps to decide whether it's worth anything.
>>283343675You can get the beginning of the volume for free or even read the whole volume.I'd read a bunch of volumes before jumping on a magazine.
>>283344113The first volume isn't out yet of that one title; it's only at chapter 3.I have no idea how people get into magazines like that but I did it once with JOKER but that magazine always has good one shots at the end so it's far more palpable.
>>283344534Your options are:Wait for the volumeWait for the chapter releaseRead the previous two issuesThere's worse cases where the volume releases are lagging far behind the magazine and you'd have to read half a dozen issues to catch up even directly after a new volume came out.
>>283344660Yeah well that's the thing. With most magazines I don't face that issue because>First chapter free>Second chapter can be bought independently>Just in general, new titles start almost every issue or on average more than one per issue>Things run for like 20 chapters on average if not less like a sane thing instead of 150.>One shots existWhich is why I think this is a very weird magazine.
>>283344736>Second chapter can be bought independentlyThose always seem like a ripoff. You pay far more per page than you do with magazines or volumes and reading single chapters is a pain in the ass.Comp Ace is a weird magazine because it's almost exclusively adaptions, the new series being original was highly unusual.Amount of oneshots and the turnover rate is something that varies a lot between mags. In case of CA there was a downturn during which many younger series ended and very few took their place. The magazine used to be a lot thicker a few years ago. First instance there were 11 series that started in 2023 but only one of them is left. There's other magazines with the same problems. For example Bessatsu Shonen Magazine launched a dozen series in 2024 and all but one were axed after two volumes. they have more oneshots so it may be a bit easier to get into but you're still skipping a lot of content.
>>283345234>Those always seem like a ripoff. You pay far more per page than you do with magazines or volumes and reading single chapters is a pain in the ass.Yes, but if only need to complete 2 chapters to reach the state where it's in the first volume of the magazine one bought it's cheaper again than buying the entire first volume. Not to mention more quickly available, it's mostly to fill such gaps, and for people who don't wanht to buy the magazines but also can't wait for the entire volume releases.
