Reze was a bland and boring character in the manga, and the movie adds nothing to her. Fuck that, there were almost no new scenes at all, making it a completely boring yet competent adaptation. A perfect 6/10 for manga readers, though anime only normalfags might enjoy it more.

I find Jin Roh to be a very realistic anime movie and it does what it sets out to do well(hell its the most grounded of the Kerberos panzer cop film and the other two were live action). For me it was Nakyama trying to force Chainsaw man to be something it’s not. Chainsaw man does have slow moments(fuck half of the reze arc both manga and movie is a slow burn before turn it up to beyond 11) but Nakayama felt the need to add even more slow shit where it didn't need it. Chapter 2 which was partially cut from Nakayama's adaptation serves to show Denji that not every cute devil is like Pochita and pushed Denji cooler to Makima since at the moment him even thinking about trying to flee her almost got him killed. Another thing was with how inconsistently weighty Denji and the katana were. In some scenes they are doing super human kicks and shit why in other scenes they act like retards with metal bars taped to their head and hands. The level of "realism" felt at war with itself.

I used earplugs meant for concerts for my second and I’m glad I did because it worked and it was only a little muffled but it somehow felt louder, during some of typhoons sequences the back of my seat was literally shaking, one of the reasons I usually hate movie theaters. Just saw it today. Amazing experience, what else can I say? One small thing that stood out was the spider and butterfly imagery during the pool scene. It was a pretty basic thing but it stuck with me, and I had to check if it was in the manga once I got home.I'm pretty satisfied, but after the fun was over it felt somewhat bittersweet to re-experience part 1 like this and start making comparisons with current CSM. I don't want to turn this into yet another 'hating on part 2' session, but I have to mention how much the supporting cast of special division helped make the story more colorful. From Serious B-plots like Aki and Angel's, to the quirky small characters like Beam or Violence who never got to be developed, but still were tons of fun while they lasted. I just wish part 2 wasn't such a revolving door of side characters appearing and disappearing in the blink of an eye, at least ever since Yuko left the story.
