The God Valley portion of the flashback has felt rushed, from the setup to the actual events. We were given no reason to care about Shakky, and it feels like Oda's firing through certain events just out of obligation rather. Take Dragon for example, who just appears to be teleporting around the island as the plot needs him, or Rayleigh saving Shakky which happened in a short few pages. Even the teamup against Imu just sort of happens very quickly with no real interactions between the characters, beyond a short exchange between Rocks, Kaido and WB
