Star Wars is dead meat. And it will be for as long as Disney exists. Why bother?
>>
>>283385005
Andor was basically the last somewhat interesting piece of star wars media, and that was mainly due to the showrunner and his team, not the source material. Disney killed the franchise. The millenials moved on, mostly to anime, and the zoomers never bought in. Gen A doesn't even know what it is.
>>
>>283385005
Some episodes from S1 were pretty good and definitely better than whatever the fuck disney is shitting out. It's not high bar to pass, but still. And i think that lightsabers are cool.

People are gushing over Ohira's short and the lineup of animators does look pretty insane. Too bad that Star Wars is gay as hell.

It's made by japanese studios just like the first season was. But S2 is /co/, yes

The Ohira episode looked fucking insane. This man is quite possibly the greatest animator of the modern day

>>283385005
It is hard to care when it is all just different short stories unconnected with each other. They should have continued stories they started in season 1 in seasons 2 and 3
>>
>>283385005
Why not just make a full new series by now? There's tons of stories that would've been great like the Kemono girl, twins, or Lah Kara from 9th jedi
>>
>>283386809

Eh maybe I'll give it a chance.
>>
>>283387901
Yeah The Elder was incredibly dull so I'm not expecting anything from this. For me the only value of these shorts is being an animation showcase, so they really should have gotten someone like Yoshinari on the job.
Then again working on this probably would have meant not contribibuting to NPSG, and I sure as hell cared more about that than about fucking Star Wars.

It is so baffling how Disney spent insane amount of money to acquire Star Wars, and then just absolutely tanked it's popularity by ...sheer corporate greed. Their new movies scream out "designed by committee with only merch sales in mind".

They really killed the franchise. They had a goose that lays golden eggs and really killed it by cutting it open in their haste to get to the gold faster.
Now even old die-hard fans have moved on and couldn't care less about it.

The only succeeded in the small tv series like Andor because they considered it a throw-away and didn't bother to micromanage the production. It gave the director something rare in disney productions: freedom to do something cool wihtou over-merching everything. They were made by fans who cared about the source material and did not consider it to be just another cash-cow.

Some of the Disney star wars stuff remind me of their other production: "Crater". It seems to be very formulaic disney production about quirky kids on moon, having an adventure to solve some mystery or the other. And it was SO FUCKING BORING that I just dropped it. It had that "designed by committee" feeling to it where they have a cast with "quirky kids with different backgrounds", token ethnic groups to appoease everyone, it had a little bit of social commentary how rich get the cool stuff and the poor has to make do with scraps, It had clearly some budget to make it semi-believable moon outpost mission... and I could not give a fuck about any of the characters. they are soulless card-board cut outs just like disney's new star wars characters. The production does not try to do anything new, it does not push the envelope one bit. I was surprised they didn't have "here's the easily merchable mascot that you can buy" character, like some loveable robot.

Disney is a soulless megacorp which does not care about the source material. And you can often tell it from their end products. Star Wars just became a casualty of it.

It's not like it was great before Disney. Any time you consume SW content now you have to remember that the shitty prequels are canon, and the shittier sequels are canon too. At that point you might as well get invested into some other fictional universe that's unfucked instead of pretending the parts of SW you don't like don't exist.

>>283392296
The problem is that they're one dimensional. They have a lightsaber and telekinesis, sometimes lightning. That's it most of the time. As far as fictional wizards go it's the most boring kind there is, and in a universe full of aliens and many sequels, prequels and side material, you'd think we would've met something more interesting or more powerful by now. Instead, Jedi and Sith are obviously more powerful and special than everyone else and can reflect projectiles and basically are mary sue saiyans in a universe of humans.

Add to that they are stupid to the point of focusing only on immediate profit instead of the long term, which ironically results in less profit and deceased franchises.
At least we got Andor and Star Wars Visions (which they can still ruin), maybe they'll understand that fans want good stuff and are more than happy to pay for it, which is Disney's end goal

Star Wars should have ended a long, long time ago. In the 70s it was novel concept, the old adventure serial format in a setting that cleverly mixed western, chambara, WW2, fantasy and eastern philosophy, all with groundbreaking special effects. But it certainly wasn't something worthy of being dragged on for 50 years, nor even designed for it. It's all because of greed and a weird cultish obsession over a fine New Hollywood flick. Alec Guinness was right.

Star Wars worldbuilding is way too fucking shallow and incoherent to make any interesting stories that don't revolve around the themes of the main movies, this isn't Mass Effect or Star Trek. I remind you that during Andor, there were literally retarded people like Star Wars Theory who complained that there were no Jedi, and a Star Wars without Jedi isn't Star Wars.

True story...
Star Wars has so much more to offer, but people want a particular kind of flavor. In my opinion, it would have been interesting to introduce various groups of Force users who are not Jedi and are less powerful (such as the Temple guardians), but with different roles and responsibilities, because the mysticism of the Force is undoubtedly one of the most interesting aspects. And Andor is pretty good thriller sci-fi that shows how stories without a Jedi can still work.

SW had tiered canon, with the movies being the core, thr EU had some stories lifted, but it was mostly just fanfic tier, and for a good reason.

The issue always was unsupervised addition, even from George, and now Filoni can just waifufag.

"As mentioned, after "The Ninth Jedi" was released, many fans wanted to see more of Kara and her story. Fortunately for them, it was announced at Star Wars Celebration in Japan that "The Ninth Jedi" would be continuing in the form of a spin-off series titled The Ninth Jedi.

The show is expected to be released in 2026 and will directly continue the story of "The Ninth Jedi" from Star Wars: Visions."

It's going to become it's own animated series, which is awesome because I love it's setting

Let me tell you about A-wings.

The A-wing is so bad its propensity for being the fastest coffin money can buy survived a canon revamp through sheer will.

The A-wing, or "How to look cool and die fast" is what happens when a Kuat engineer sneaks into the back of Sienar systems to see the assembly of the first TIE Interceptor and thinks “a cheap fast and basic starfighter with the survivability of wet paper, great! Let's make it faster, let's make it not cheap, let's make it even faster, AND let's make it without the numbers that TIEs are built around" and his Rebel friend, hearing all this, decides "Yeah we ain’t got Empire pilot numbers but I sure do like going fucking FAST!”

Fast but not easy, you're basically flying two engines strapped to your dick when it just saw two twi’leks kissing. In a navy that is full of "I'm the best pilot ever but fuck discipline" jocks there's only one way to compensate for the missing inches of limp-dicked decent piloting and "well I can fly an A-wing and not die" is there for people who have a hopelessly high rate of optimism and a will already written.

The most famous victory of an A-wing pilot is driving himself into the bridge of a Star Destroyer. This is actually remarkable as it did come at the end of the war between the Empire and the Rebel alliance, since it is frankly fucking AMAZING A-wing pilots survived this long. In the new canon they are given a fresh introduction, and promptly do nothing but fucking explode.

A-wings are the thinking man's suicide note. In a desperate struggle to be the slickest spacer this side of Duros young hotshots sign up for a one-way ticket into either ploughing into the fucking ground, being the first into the fray and into the fire in the wet tissue paper tiger, and just generally being the coolest guy in the dogfight because they're already exposed to the vacuum of space.

Well, they don't say what studio is making it anywhere. Most of IG is working on films right now (Kaiju no.8 film and Shinkai's film with CoMix Wave). A lot of their TV staff should be good to go after Kaiju no.8 S2 though, so maybe that's what they're working on.

It is going to be up to him, because he is the only one left.
The clone wars was good when it wasn't all up to him, rebels kinda suck because it's just a wank.

SW was never warhammer where it's community built, so people have different interpretations on what happened, like the stormtroopers can't aim meme. It's a huge issue that most writers just pick the parts they like.

>>283413239
Force sensitive sharpshooters were briefly mentioned, but I don't think Disney would allow anyone to invent new things or actually do anything but jedi/rebel/smuggler mc. I don't think they would even allow a sith/empire prespective without mandating a turn to the light side.

If you are good pilot you would want a TIE interceptor, really the only drawback is the lack of shields, but just don't get hit. And with the interceptor that is a valid strategy. I'd fly a TIE any day over the alliance crafts.
>>

>>283415033

>>
>>283415622
The joke is that the average x-wing has more firepower, more shields and armor, has an array of back up systems and pressurized cockpit, with a droid to provide assistance and it still loses 1v1 against a semi competent TIE pilot because if the TIE doesn't do a head on, the x-wing wont br able to get guns on him or shake him off. The basic TIE is an excellent space superiority fighter and the interceptor is even better. The x-wing tries to do too many things, like most alliance crafts and ends up being expensive and not very good at anything.
>>
>>283415796
>it still loses 1v1 against a semi competent TIE pilot because if the TIE doesn't do a head on, the x-wing wont br able to get guns on him or shake him off.
That's because they are almost always deployed in huge numbers, if you escape from one you'll immediately run into a bunch of others, which is exactly the empire's strategy.
The U-wing is the best all purpose ship anyway

>>
>>283415912
It's becase the TIE is faster, accelerates faster and can turn tighter. The empire just correctly realizes that they are even better in numbers since they can rotate fast essentially always having someone attacking the x-wing. But it's not a matter of numbers, in fact you would need more x-wings to evenly match the base TIE in a dogfight.

I don't think they're super comparable. Genndy Wars is hyper focused on stylish action, which has always Genndy's greatest skill. Nta but there's absolutely no way any of those clones would've followed that order unless they were mind controlled to do so. The 08 clone wars gave them alot of individuality/personality and their relationship with their jedi generals was way too good for it to be believable that the clones would turn on them mid-battle.
>>
>>283419193
That's kind of an issue in itself. The clones really shouldn't have been so personable. Man, I miss the days before even the PT when the idea of what the clone wars were was left completely vague. I'm sure a lot of old fags had an idea what they meant but it certainly wasn't what we got.

No one really cares about Shit Wars anymore.

Even less to about Star Wrs, but set in japan.

If there were multiple Pong Krell jedi that fucked up child clones on Kamino that could have been an excuse.

The Duel and its Sequel are not here for the story. They're deliberately two short episodes of 15-20 minutes, where they've put everything into the cinematography, the quality of the direction, and the beauty of some sequences.

It saddens me to see people who are not capable of appreciating these things.

I will never stop loving something I did just because later hacks came around and made a shit fanfic. And I'm not gonna kick anything half decent out of bed.

Side related. Read the KOTOR comic.

If I had to guess, that was the plan and then it got vetoed by Disney. There's no reason to give her a mask for a tiny little face cut.
>>
>>283423311
That's possible, but I think it was mostly due to the mask removal needing to be scenic. Like, if F had a bandaid on the scar and removed it in the climax it would have looked kinda ridiculous. Plus in the episode she's seemingly trying to attract as little attention to her identity as possible, mask and hood help with that
>>
>>283423311
>I had to guess, that was the plan and then it got vetoed by Disney.
IMAO, no. There was never any intention to make her horribly disfigured, this is a fetish fantasy all your own. It's the same thing they did with the female bounty hunter and the killer robot episode in S3. The mask simply represents a state of mind. It's very similar to the silly, clichéd "i cut my hair because this is a new me" that "summarize" a character's change. These are often clumsy methods of telling the viewer that the character has changed, but they have now become well-known Tropes.
>>
Crazy how many jedi just keep popping up, almost like they weren't actually wiped out by the empire.

Me too. It was uneven but I unironically think it is one of the best parts of the franchise.

There were no systematic extermination of the jedi, it was merely a consequence of the war, other demographics have suffered too.
>>
>>283424377
The next step is to say that the extermination of the Jedi never happened.

To be fair, a galaxy is pretty big, even with iperspace travel. A handful of shitty Jedi surviving isn't much

Even if it happened, the jedi were kinda asking for it.
>special rights to just kidnap children
>special rights to carry weapon anywhere
>exempt from the law, can just break into your house and kill you
>unrestricted use of powers, maybe they are mind controlling the politicians
>when the war broke out they immediately got into leadership positions, without prior experience that got lots of people killed
>when the war ended they tried to grab power

Just like how Gundam needs humanoid mechas and space magic.
>>
>>283425280
It needs the mechs, but it doesn't need the space magic of Newtypes.
>>
>>283424027
It had high high points and those high points were thankfully at the most important parts. A good ending does wonders for any long series.
>>
>>283424027
Nice pic.
Thinking about the EU, the new trilogy would have been better set 200 years after the events of the OT. The EU is canon, but irrelevant to the new setting, so people could enjoy a fresh start. Luke could easily have still been around, and his exile would have made even more sense, given that he rebuilt the Jedi and his presence now only bothers the young ones, who have to stand on their own two feet.
>>
>>283424420
I think even accounting for Canon only sources it 500+ Jedi post-purge running around which is a rather large amount of named characters
>>
>>283425571
The goal was to remake star wars for the modern audience.
>>
>>283424420
Star Wars isn't that big, sure they throw around big numbers, but you can travel around the galaxy in a matter of days, most planets are named and only have a fes settlements. It's possible to hide, but not for that many.
>>
>>283426250
Allegedly 500 hundreds Jedi hiding in billion of systems? Yeah, sure
>>
>>283426145
Every old franchise wants to remake itself for 'modern audiences.' I'm still not sure what that phrase means or whether it's ever been done successfully.

It's goycattle that just consumes. Doesn't exist yet, so they make the slop to see who bites. Everyone else is a racist or something. They say this all the time on their own forums, the media just won't report on it for some reason.

Black was the final throes within the mind of a random stormtrooper as he dies. His life flashing before his eyes, and the hallucinations, dreams, and time dilation flowing through his brain in its final moments before cutting to Black. It's death. It's also a piece that shines a light upon the fact that every person who perished aboard the Death Star was a unique and individual life. Every single one with their own thoughts, memories, and dreams. It humanizes the random mooks, and serves secondarily as a spotlight on the horrors of war.

In all of Star Wars I think I've seen ONE Jedi smart enough to at least wear arm guards. And he was kind of a bad jedi.

>>
>>283429043
Body armor is, like, against the will of the Force or something.
>>
>>283429431
I think it's more Jedi are not pragmatic and don't want to resort to violence unless absolutely necessary and wearing armour shows you're expecting a fight
>>
>>283429509
Old Republic stuff shows us a lot of Jedi wearing armour. Looks like by the time Sheeve came around it came completely out of fashion.

They had personnel Dune style shields too during Old Republic times. Lost tech
