It was good. You could see the production starting to unravel a bit towards the last 3rd as deadlines were probably coming faster, but it was a great production overall.

Also if you had a top 10 list of Fall ED's, Chainsaw Man would probably make up a majority of the list, which is fun.

Ya no. Most of the endings were ok songs to ok animation or absolute garbage trash songs to ok animation. There were a couple that were pretty good overall but on average they werent that good.

i checked out the manga briefly after some time and the biggest problem with adapting is the breakneck pace, it takes 5 minutes for insane plot progression
the director deliberately tried to slow the tempo down and make it different than the manga, and the result is that a lot of people were dissatisfied
to be honest i'm thinking this series just isn't a good fit for an anime adaptation, just like most series for older audiences don't get anime, although this one has mass appeal
i'd honestly just leave it alone, but fujimoto is happy he got 7 million more sales for free from the anime promotion
>>

>>283394548
also bocchi went with the absurdist approach to the series, that could be how csm anime could have went as well. it would probably be best to adapt it into multiple movies, but it isn't a viable option for anime normally, and they would cut a lot of content, but then people would complain about every thing cut anyway, so there is no good solution to leave everyone satisfied
the director is an egoistical shit as well, and the whole cast was made for promotion from voice actors to endings instead of quality of faithful adaptation
some cgi elements looked bad
some unfitting music and ost repetition, a lot of silence in scenes

none of these arguments matter for 99% of the target base of consumers that will buy and defend the series to death for years to come

Threadly reminder:
>>“Here, Reze exits the story, but I personally like it when the protagonist and heroine don’t end up together. And I want that feeling to linger. That’s why Denji and Reze don’t get together, and I absolutely didn’t want to make it so that Reze would join as an ally.”

7/10

A whole shitload of stupid, inconsistent fun with a handful of emotionally poignant moments. Episodes 7, 8, and 9 were the best. Aki, Makima, and Himeno are the best.

The biggest problems were how awkwardly the episodes flowed from one to the next, and how they ended the season with a rushed miniboss arc. Almost every episode ended with big promises that it under delivered on in the next episode, culminating in an ending that under delivers on everything before it while making big promises about what's to come. I expect season 2 to follow the same disappointing pattern. I like Denji but Chainsaw Man is probably the least interesting thing about Chainsaw Man. Ponchita's nature, the explanation behind Chainsaw Man's power, and Denji's withering humanity are apparently relegated to plot twist prison, leaving little to care about so far.

The ritualistic magic like Aki invoking Curse and Makima telefragging the gangsters was incredibly memorable and I need more of it in my life.

The ritualistic magic like Aki invoking Curse and Makima telefragging the gangsters was incredibly memorable and I need more of it in my life.
I also like that the waifu bait character is blatantly manipulative and abusive. You aren't supposed to sympathize with or support her, but the story makes it very easy to understand why Denji is so eagerly taking the bait. In a worse story, they would either hide it completely to pawn it off for a cheap twist, or make Makima so awful that you'd get frustrated with Denji for falling for it.

Pale, blonde, light eyed. Most every culture considers pale skin attractive, e.g. Eastern beauty standards. Blonde and green/blue eyes is considered attractive in Western beauty standards.
the beautiful maiden is instead described as "well-shaped bright white shins and smooth thighs, carefully arranged golden blonde tresses, smooth, tender white shoulders, dark black eyebrows, and radiant skin."

i have to imagine anyone whose realized what chainsawman's power is has GOT to give them some ideas right? Whoever Yoshida is working for (presumably kishibe) does want to use the power to serve mankind or at least keep it under wraps so others dont use it.
Maybe they're dedicated to denji living in peace so his contract will be fulfilled with potchita??? like what makima was trying to do but just being nice??? or maybe the organization is keeping denji in the dark while they do whatever with the copycat chainsaw man?
>>
>>283394604
yeah i would agree with that

had fun watching it but seriously the perfect scores are bullshit. the fight was great and all but it's only the focus part of it and considering the rest it's just basic plot (also if you don't know anything about the series you can't understand anything). i was with a friend that went full blind with the movie and he was extremely confused about it, and the opinions from people i've heard outside the cinema were streaming just "peak", "awesome fight" and literally just single words about it, without specific explanations.
Also the crowd was semi-full of cosplayers flirting with zoomers

Why Death wants to weaponize CSM when she can just activate her powers and win. The reason is pretty simple, weaponized CSM is the true King of Terror or Death wants some erased concepts to return.

I'm not a shipfaggot and Fujimoto already spent a couple of pages building up Denji and Asa's relationship.
Denji is a loser who is desperate for a girlfriend and Asa is a loser in denial who was jealous of everyone else in her classroom.
The building blocks have been set and now we will see how the author will build their relationship from here on out (It's probably going to end horribly).

>Denji ends too mindbroken for what he did Pochita once again emerges voluntarily and begins crying and screaming in total and absolute rage and despair. He grows wings in his back and his power incontinence ends growing infinite lenght chainsaws, destroying the whole town with his inhabitants inside as a last and definite warning against devils who dare to hurt his best friend again, otherwise, he'll start his own version of the apocalypse, as he isn't by neither yoru nor shiga nor humans side. He's simply on Denji's side.
>This makes darkness and the devil devil panic because they realized Pochita broke the most important rule of human-devil contracts: not learning human feelings.
>Yoru also feels Pochita's full power and finally remembers what happened in the past. She receives orders from darkness to separate Pochita from Denji at any cost. She happily obeys because she wants to fight him again, but her eye begins twitching, hinting at Asa still somehow alive and angsty because Denji's now in real shit, but is on a state of absolute nihilistic depression to ever regain control of her body again. Same as Shiga and Kiga. They receive orders to kill Denji by any means.
>For the next last couple of dozens of chapters, Denji never appears, only as his child form sitting in fetus position in that alleyway while muttering some nonsensical shit about wanting to be erased. Suddenly, he sees a door in front of him, but is too depressed to ever kill himself.

Okay, let me try to understand this theory.
War devil reincarnated to earth an somehow forget that she's a devil.
Asa's mom find her and adopt her.
And yoru is asa's way of coping that she's a human.
This also can explain why war devil was a bird ch 98, while famine and control are humanoid, because asa made them up.
Her guilt of bucky's death probably have something to do with the appearance of the imaginary war devil.

I finally saw the Reze movie. 9.5 / 10 for sure. Most movies suck, but this was great.

I have to say that I like that more mature feel of Part 1. I like the art style and colour tone better in Part 1 too. But overall, you put this up against everything else and it's an amazing movie.

Have to say it feels surreal idolizing these characters for over a year and then seeing them in IMAX. I can't wait to see these last few chapters on the big screen some day.

Thanks /a/, it wouldn't have been as entertaining if it weren't for you guys. I can't remember the last time I was actually excited for something like that.

We don't know actually, it's pretty obvious he wasn't a fiend and was still "Aki" when he was fighting Denji. But I'm hesitant to say he was a weapon Hybrid like the others, if he indeed was then it's possible Denji destroyed his heart(which I believe the devil that keeps the hybrids "immortal") thus killing him for real. But with part 2 out now I think he was most similar to Yuko, and we still don't know for sure wtf she was.

Pochita's had many chances to chomp down Asa's head or her body parts, but he didn't do it. We know full power War devil lost her its body before because Pochita ate them. Is Pochita Asa's simp?

For starters Aki did die when the Gun devil shot him since his name shows up in the list, but Makima revived him in some way, if he was a Hybrid then it would be as simple as him getting a devil heart like Denji, but it is also possible she kept him alive with her contract to the prime minister somehow, he is "chained" to her after all, or it could be like what happened to Yuko, where Kiga revived her, which is the most similar situation since Kiga is also a horseman. Then, fiends have the personality of the devil and we see no personality of the Gun devil the entire fight, he even says "Denji", which Denji replies which "why do you know my name?", because if he was the Gun devil he wouldn't know Denji's name, and even if you say "oh Makima told him", we see half the fight from AKI's fucked up perspective where he thinks they're having a snowball fight. Later when Denji tells Power that was a "Gun fiend" Power says that is impossible because it had Aki's scent, and we know tahat devils have amazing sense of smell, so she would be able to tell if that was really the Gun fiend. And last, when the Future devil makes the contract with Aki, he says he wants to see his future with his own eyes because Aki will die in the worst possible way, and he ONLY shows up AFTER Denji kills Aki to say "Aki Hayakawa, you died in the worst possible way...for the chainsaw boy", if Aki was already dead and that was the Gun devil, then the Future devil wouldn't have shown up, he would've shown up earlier or not shown up at all. This is also why I don't think Aki is coming back like some schizos do, the Future devil confirms Aki died then and there.

Possible theory to explain this:
Whatever it is that Aki-47 was, it wasn’t the full version, because he was at most only combined with the American and Japanese portions of the Gun Devil.
Perhaps he was a partial hybrid, but the incomplete nature of gun devil prevented him from being fully conscious or immortal.
Or perhaps he was a fiend, but gun devil being incomplete meant he couldn’t totally take over Aki’s brain.

The best strategy could have is for Denji to cut Asa's head in half, maybe that'll disconnect Yoru from Asa's body for enough time to give Asa time to weaponize Yoru, since weaponization would differentiate between Asa and Yoru.
If that's how any of that works, of course.
>>
>>283395804
"Good" and "valid" are subjective, but if correct, it would explain:

>The bizarre symbiosis between Asa/Yoru. Not Fiend. Not Hybrid.
>Could explain why Yoru has no memory of Kiga (there are alternative explanations for this.)
>Why Kiga never refers to "Yoru" as her "sister" (she has only referred to Asa and "War Devil" as her sister) and seems to have no interest in Yoru.
>Why Asa can use War Devil's power while Yoru is "gone."
>Why Asa has dreams indicative of her being responsible for mass death in her past, despite presumably living a mundane human life.
That's about it at the top of my head.

I feel the next few chapters which disclose Yoru's current status will either make or break the FC theory. If Yoru "blacked out" during her separation with Asa, I will be almost sold on it. If not, I will have to add it to list of counterpoints.

Random thing that I thought of while rewatching clips from the anime. Mentioned in a previous thread that I liked how the original material that the movie added focused on characterization, like the scene with Denji and the old coffee can in the phone booth. But some of the TV anime added scenes, like Aki's morning routine, feel completely empty. They're there to make Aki look cool to women. Here's him preparing food, deftly chopping onions and carefully preparing coffee. He's briskly and efficiently dropping in the appropriate amount of fabric softener into the washing machine. Here's him looking cool smoking a cigarette.

It's so artificial and generic. Like yeah, Aki does this relatively mundane stuff, but the emphasis is clearly on him being a bishounen/ikemen who's put together and takes care of himself, it's vain and surface level rather than focusing on what makes him a unique character.

Some of the things that make Aki who he is
>Obsession with vengeance against the Gun Devil to the point he's willing to sacrifice his own lifespan if it means furthering his chance to kill it
>Trauma from the death of his family leading to an intense aversion to seeing others die
>Cold and seemingly ruthless approach to devils, which hides that he's actually a quite soft and kind boy beneath it all and he's putting up a front
>Somewhat vacuous crush on Makima, he's like putty in her hands
He had to grow up too fast because of his circumstances, but he's still a kid, an older brother, deep down. That's what makes his character development going forward so good. You're convinced he's going to be Diet Sasuke, pursuing power for the sake of revenge at all costs to the point he forsakes everything else, but he ends up going in the complete opposite direction and calls it quits out of love for Denji and Power. The anime at least had the sense to add some original scenes with them being a family.

Asa is fun character despite being a moralfag and her moralfag side is something I can relate to.
Yuko subplot was needed to develop Asa, but it also introduced fake CSM and Devils Hunters Club (and, I think, set up the future conflict between Denji and Yoshida). Yuko herself was rather disappointing though. I wish she had more meat as a character, Quanxi or Aldo were much more interesting while having roughly the same amount of screentime.

A theme that keeps coming up in part 2 is compromise.
I think Famine's goal was to set up a Kobayashi Maru situation and let Asa Captain Kirk her way out of it.
Famine never intended for Denji to become a weapon, she knew Asa wouldn't ever go through with it.
I think picrel was Famine's ultimate goal, getting Asa to think in this way.
What Asa is thinking lends itself to the bullshit OPnes of the horseman powers.
We see with Makima that control is as trivial as thinking she's above something, it's a mental state to get the most efficiency out of her powers.

I think "obsessing over mistakes" is the more important one since it's essentially Asa's critical character flaw. She's very a strict "rule follower", not out of respect for any rules but just out of a complete aversion to risk. She looks down on people who she perceives as acting improperly. Her method of dealing with Yoru up until Yuko attacks the school is to try not to think about it and just do the minimal amount to cooperate.

She constantly obsesses and beats herself up over what she thinks are her own mistakes, even for accidents. She blames herself for her mother's death in a devil attack, blames herself for Yuko choosing to attack the school (which Yuko says to her face wasn't her fault), and withdraws from the Devil Hunter group after accidentally breaking her phone.

Yoru, in a way, is kind of like Asa's idealized self. They're actually pretty similar, but Yoru is agile while Asa is cumbersome, Yoru is goal oriented while Asa is just trying to make it through life without messing up, Yoru doesn't care about the impact of her actions while Asa thinks of herself as culpable for things that aren't her fault, and Yoru is spontaneous while Asa is boring. Basically, she's Asa's Tyler Durden. What Asa really wants is to be able to make her own decisions without worrying about the consequences.

The problem is that this is still Chainsaw Man. Part 1 was about Denji trying to fulfill his dreams. He did this by going along with Makima's machinations, and it didn't go so well. We already saw with Yuko going school shooter what the dark side of "living without worrying about making mistakes" looks like. Yoru is about as trustworthy as Makima, and her endgame isn't going to be good for anyone.

To me, the most interesting aspects of part 2 are if Asa will go off the deep end, just how far she'll go if she does, and whether her relationship with Yoru will end up as either the Sony Venom movies or the last act of Fight Club.

Reze is originally written with katana as "レゼ". Phonetically, this is read as "Reze" as well.
While it is true, that "japanese cannot into L", the only stretch valid would be to argue that Reze's name could be interpreted as Leze, but nothing more.

If you'd want to translate the western name "Lisa" into japanese, you would also use katakana, though you'd simply arrive at "リサ", which reads as "Risa".

So there is absolutely no foundation to your stupid claim that Reze would translate to Lisa. Based on the available material, Reze is just called Reze and everything else is just headcanon.

Go out and touch grass.

yes, correct.

Leze would be a possible option, yes.

Your argument is invalid, as you "translate" the wrong way from japanese to english. The initial question was though what the western name of Reze could be that results in "レゼ" when translating into japanese writing system. As written before, both Reze or Leze would be valid options.

correct.

how many braincells did you activate to come to the false conclusion that Leze could be considered equal to Liza? These are clearly two completely different names.

As shown before, while your statement is true, it does not lead to the conclusion that "Lisa" would be translated into "レゼ", as "リサ" would be a valid and more fitting option.

Nobody argued "Rese" or "Lese" to be a valid option. Also, we deal with a fictional story about fucking human fears turned into devils that make contracts with humans and shit. It is completely valid to expect fictional names for characters as well. I mean the blood devil posessing a human corpse is called "power". Why? Fuck, you, its fiction! Thats why. So Reze is simply called Reze (or Leze, if you want to stretch that far)

Denji and Pochita need to die for one arc so Nazi, AIDS can return.
>>
My theory about Nayuta.
We don't know the physiology of demons, but we can construct some theories. Pochita, having been fucked by four horsemen, turned into a little dog. This dog is a reflection of his current strength, he was weakened as much as possible. If you project his example onto Makima, it turns out that Nayuta is a reflection of the control devil's current powers. Makima was eaten by Denji on earth, in hell someone fucked her and killed her, after which she was reborn on earth as a little girl, just as Pochita became a dog.
So it turns out that she won't grow up at all in the way people grow up. Behind the scenes, she will gain her demonic powers, and eventually turn into an adult girl in terms of human biology. Fujimoto will somehow frame it nicely to make it look believable.
I think it was the same with Makima. If you look at the hybrids, you can see that Quanxi hasn't aged at all. Kishibe is 50 yo, but Quanxi still the same girl from his flashback. Hybrids don't age. Four horsemen are several times stronger than hybrids, so they should not age too.

I know it's impossible to have Chainsawman threads on this board but I'll give an honest answer.

1. Bad animation.
2. Bad soundtrack (it's just a bunch of random drumbeats with no melody. Not a single memorable melody in the soundtrack, except for ED songs which I don't count as part of the score)
3. Horrible direction.
4. Horrible voice acting.
5. Horrible pacing and horrible season plan (only 12 episodes when CSM doesn't become interesting until much later on?)
6. Unnecessary censorship
7. Lazy, unmotivated staff (compare JJK to Chainsaw Man's adaptation, it's like night and day)
8. Allocating budget wrong (giving the wrong devils extra fight scenes, prioritizing EDs over episode count)
9. Character expressions are robotic and bland compared to the manga counterparts.
10. Aesthetic is all wrong and doesn't match Chainsaw Man. It's supposed to be quirky and edgy, not have this muted "realistic" directorial feel. It should have been given to Studio Trigger or Bones.

Not going to lie bros, violently punishing the "control devil" makes me incredibly happy. Once Nayuta in her straightjacket, I would pluck out her right eye and drill through her eye socket into her brain. Not all the way through of course, just through the skull until you reach the grey matter. It's natural for her to scream at this point, and it'll be like music to my ears. Then, with a small ice pick, I would wiggle round, scrambling her prefrontal cortex, until it's broken down into small pieces. At this point, the screaming begins to die down as she begins to lose her sense of identity.
I would then cut off her nose to allow easier access to her nasal cavity, and drill through her nostril to make another hole in her brain. With a surgical suction, I begin extracting the scrambled pieces of her brain, along with the broken pieces of her consciousness and personality.
After a light dusting in flour and seasoned breadcrumbs, I quickly fry the pieces of her brain in foaming butter, until it is golden brown. Brain is very delicate and I will have to be quick before it disintegrates in the pan. Dislocating her jaw to force her mouth open, I force-feed Nayuta her sauteed brain, her first solid meal since she was institutionalized.
And as she stares back at me vacantly with her one remaining eye, blood dripping out of her nose, drool out of her mouth and brains in her stomach, I feel an overwhelming sense of satisfaction. Justice is served.

>She's also actually Makima's illegitimate half-sister
>She tried to go make her dad acknowledge her as a kid, but he was talking with Pochita's original owner, who had Pochita with him at the time
>Pochita reacted to the child charging his owner by knocking Asa to the ground and stealing her favorite Nuke-man action figure
>Asa and her mom were given hush money and sent away, she coped by getting a pet bird she named Yoru
>In the immediate present, some bullies beat her up in an alley and kill Yoru
>This makes Asa have a psychotic break and remember her childhood trauma, beating up the bullies in return
>Her more bold new split personality wants revenge on that damn dog and to get her old toy back
>Pochita accidentally swallowed it and it's still lodged in his stomach

Isn't it obvious that Yoru in her potoo form flew inside Asa's mom's vagina while she was pregnant, ate the existing fetus and absorbed Asa's mom's DNA to gain her appearance? Just before she was "born", Yoru sealed her memories and powers away so she could be born as a blank slate, and would only be reawakened when she was in mortal danger. That way, she would be raised as a human, "Asa Mitaka", and learn emotions such as guilt so she could make strong weapons when Yoru returns.
Kiga is in on the plan and sent former class prez to attack Asa so that Yoru would reawaken, and also got Asa's mom high on LSD so she wouldn't notice a potoo pulling down her pants and crawling into her uterus.
This was all part of Yoru's 4D chess keikaku to become human so she could make strong weapons to fight CSM.

akima is Fujimoto's ideal view of the female josei audience, the same way Denji is how Fujimoto sees the male shonen audience.

Part of it is, obviously, that she has a cute boyfriend and she's pure control fantasy.
The rest of it is that she solves two of the biggest issues often present in josei manga, related to the workplace.
Number one, often those heroines have to sacrifice their personal life to be good at their job, while Makima has time to go on movie dates with Denji. The other issue is that women feel under appreciated, a lot of times in OL josei manga you have the heroine working her ass off while someone younger gets treated better because she's more friendly, more cute, you get it. Makima, on the other hand, is attractive, competent, and everyone respects her.

Of course, Denji being younger isn't a coincidence.
The late 20s early 30s female audience is disillusioned with men their age or even older, they no longer dream about their 31 years old teacher. What they want now is an earnest, "pure" guy soncatboyfriend they can pamper and be pampered by.
Female age gap stories have more or less always these points, and Makima touches all of them.

Go ahead and explain how the cycle of rebirth differs from any other devil who dies on earth, returns to hell, dies in hell, and is reborn on Earth for Control. The Control Devil as Makima was died on Earth. It was then sent to hell where it was killed. After that, it was reborn as Nayuta. A devil who dies and is reborn does not retain its memories from its past life. And we also have no reason to believe otherwise. Fujimoto has never made the Four Horsemen a unique exception to the rule. It’s all your headcanon.

Control Devil never became a fiend but we are led to believe from Kishibe that she was one of the devils that adjusted her appearance after establishing a relationship with humans. Devils, like the Blood Devil for example, did not do this because of its hatred for humanity as a whole. Instead opting to become a fiend in the form of P*wer. It was still nevertheless the Blood Devil, just possessing a girl’s corpse. Control could have chosen to become a fiend, but it didn’t for one reason or another. Control, like Blood, died in Part 1. After being reborn, Control and Blood both no longer remember anything from their past incarnations.

Or, if you want to say that Control is naturally humanoid, the rebirth rules still apply to it for the simple fact that Control is nonetheless a devil. Angel Devil had a humanoid-like appearance before even having direct contact with humans. And yet, Angel Devil died. If we do see the Angel Devil again, it won’t have any of its memories from its live as Angel in Part 1. And like I said, we have no reason to believe it can ever get those memories.

This is why you and the P*wercucks are delusional laughingstocks.

These threads have been garbage this the advent of Leaker-chan a few weeks ago.
NUMEROUS waifufags have been HIGHLY, HIGHLY egregious in their posting and it's now time to stop.
Makima as she was is fucking dead and Nayuta will NEVER regain her former self. It's fucking over and you are all probably pedophiles if you are solely a Nayutafag.
Power as she was is fucking dead.
Even if the Blood Devil is found:
>1. She's going to be an enemy
>2. The Blood Devil has a high level of inherent hate for humans
>3. "Powa" as we knew her is gone forever, that's part of the stakes of the series
>4. No, there will not be some asspull to return her to part one state
>5. Denji have to learn and adjust to an entirely different person, yet the same as someone he once platonically cared about (not romantically loved and/or sexually desired)
>6. This will be part of a philosophical crisis for Denji to undertake
>7. Pinkshit Power isn't even Fuji's character, it's Lin's. She will never be main girl
>8. Fuji has been drawing Makima analogues since high school
>9. Jouzai does not count as legitimate evidence, nor are the translations good
It's fucking over, Power herself was friendzoned by Denji just this most recently chapter.
Reze is fucking gone and never coming back. The Soviets would NEVER leave her in the hands of the Japanese. She is back in Russia, sucking KGB dick. It's fucking over.

Music was also bretty gud and while I wasn't a huge fan of most of Reze/Denji's fighting once Beam became his steed I did like Mappa's work with Denji shredding Typhoon. Also Reze's VA did a great job making her cute as fuck, can't blame Denji for falling as hard as he did.

It just occurred to me that Denji’s obsession with getting outed as Chainsaw Man “naturally” may not just be for the reason he told Yoshida in 106. It’s highly possible, but I actually think it might be more nuanced than that. Denji’s current problems in life are:
>A. People care about chainsaw man, but nobody cares about Denji. B. He’s broke and needs money to save up for Nayuta’s college tuition.
We see him working towards both of these goals in pretty much every scene we see him in, either trying to be recognized as Chainsaw Man or trying to make money. What just occurred to me recently is that the two goals might be one and the same for Denji. Think about it, if Denji’s secret identity becomes public knowledge, he’s probably going to start making money off of it. There’s already SO much Chainsaw Man merch out there in the world, we see the Chainsaw Man bun in chapter 98, all of the advertising throughout the town in 104, etc. basically, chainsaw man is VERY marketable and a lot of merchandise is being made of him. If CSM’s identity was suddenly public, Denji would probably start getting royalties on all of it. He could start acting as Chainsaw Man in movies, he could start doing advertising deals, he could even be hired to kill devils again at top dollar. Basically, aside from the fame, being outed as Chainsaw Man is probably the best way for Denji to make money, and I think he knows this. He probably wasn’t eager to tell Yoshida his reasoning for getting outed involved Nayuta, especially since he doesn’t really seem to trust Yoshida, and if Yoshida took it upon himself to “solve” Nayuta’s education, Denji could lose custody of her. Anyway, there’s my theory of how Denji probably wants to be outed as Chainsaw Man for non-selfish reasons, even if it does end up benefiting him.

Denji's dream is to live a good life. Pochita's contract with Denji states that Denji has to show Pochita the fulfillment of these dreams.
Makima breaks him apart by telling him he cannot have a good life because he committed patricide. Additionally, all the nice things she gave to him (like his newfound family) she took away, leaving him once again with nothing.
Denji becomes heartbroken, the contract breaks. Denji doesn't believe anymore that he can live a good life. Denji effectively dies here.
Pochita takes over Denji's body and controls it. Pochita tries to set things right by looking for good food, and girls. (And also hugging Makima, that's the first thing he tries, but he once again ends up killing her)
Yes, hybrids are immortal. You see this again and again and again and again in this manga. At best you can remove their heart (and we don't even know if that truly works). At best you can kill them and not shower them with blood and activate their trigger. But they're de-facto immortal. I mean come on. You saw Samurai Guy get BISECTED vertically and one page after it he's fine. You see Reze blowing herself up. You see CSM killing all the hybrids and they just stand up again. I-M-M-O-R-T-A-L. Why don't people understand this? It's frustrating to see this question come up again and again.
He separated from Pochita before Makima entered the graveyard... Dude, wtf? Denji even says that he was running short on blood, he was waiting there the entire time, waiting for Makima to drop her guard. He had a plan, he executed it.
>>
>>283396323
in Part 1 it was estsablished that Devils, Fiends and Hybrids can heal by drinking blood and when it came to Makima{Control Devil/Horsemen} we never saw her drink blood because her contract with the Japan Prime Minister made it unecessary for her to do so because any damage she suffered would be transfered to someone else unless you had something to ungate it like going to hell or a Blood Devil powered Chainsaw.
In Part 2 when Asa is about to die she makes a contact with the War Devil which it heals her , but when Yoru talks to her and explains that she has possessed her body and has the power to turn anything that she see's that belongs to her as weapons and share this power with Asa, she never brings up the fact of by the way if you ever get hurt drink some blood your possessed by devil after all and Yoru always tells Asa to run away mainly because they are not that strong at the moment and probably because Asa is still just a normal human who was healed and has been possessed by a devil and is not a Fiend or Hybrid, but something complelty differnet and might not be able to heal unless Yoru is there.
In Part 1's Eternity arc we saw Denji face off aganist the Eternity Devil and when he got hurt he drank the blood of his enemy to heal himself and countinue on fighting and now we are in Part 2's Eternity arc and Asa is probably going to be facing the Eternity Devil next chapter will she be put through the same situation or will she come out of it completely untouch.

The world and specially everything related to devils in CSM seems to be kept purposefully vague and unexplained, probably because it all is mostly window dressing to the actual point of the story and trying to make perfect sense of such esoteric concepts would be a pain.
Now I think it's extremely likely that the whole devil contracts thing is taken from the tabletop tradition of devils being sort of lawyer like entity trying to fuck humans over with legal deals (as opposed to demons that are more traditionally brutish monsters).
So I think the point is that there is a sort of nebolous framework to these things, exemplified both by how both the Conquest and War devil's ability seem to work, which seem to depend on perception to define if and how their abilities manifest.
So within that context it makes some sense that the perception that a democratic leader excercises some degree of control over the population, both out of his and other's perception, would grant him some level of authority to enact deals over them.
Of course, that whole thing would open a whole lot of can of worms but again CSM's story is mostly about exploring the experiences of Denji and those around him and not about the world itself.

The anime adaptation is good, but different. At least out of all the manga/anime I’ve seen personally, it’s one of the very few where I can confidently recommend both, as they’re both very good in their own unique ways, while still being the same story. They’re two different flavors.
The manga is a bit more cartoony. It’s a bit more lighthearted. Fujimoto has an art style that quickly grows on you, and he’s a master at utilizing the medium of manga to the max with his symbolic use of panels and layouts. I love certain faces that are used and some page spreads will forever remain in my mind as a core memory.
As for the anime, MAPPA pulled out all the stops. The animation is fantastic, the music and voice acting are as well. It has a bit more of a dark, realistic kind of vibe going for it. The colors are more muted, the designs stay on model more often. I just don’t know enough about cinematography to hype up the anime as much as it should be, but it’s always going the extra mile for interesting camera angles and shots that make it feel like a live action western movie. In this way, it’s truly a one of the kind anime, whether you like it or not, and I would recommend it on that basis alone. And definitely if you liked jjk then you’d probs like it.
I wouldn’t say to anyone that you absolutely would need to consume both versions. But if you are already consuming chainsaw man in one way and are enjoying it and wouldn’t mind seeing the same story over, there’s definitely more to gain by seeing the other version.

>Since Makima is supposed to have been raised/groomed by the government
This is unconfirmed, and unlikely if you try to piece together the timeline of her activities. She hints to Kishibe that she's an old enough devil to remember whole bunch of stuff that CSM erased, and that she had not died since before Denji met Pochita.
When she was going to Kyoto to ask the higher ups for more resources since "devils" were starting to target Denji she never actually intended to meet them because she knew the lunch would be cancelled due to the yakuza's attacks. That was the reason why she was planning to eat a train lunch box right before the lunch meeting. The whole thing was a ruse set up by Makima to trick the government into giving her more authority over the special divisions, and thus more control over Denji's path. So that tells us that the government's leash on her is not quite tight. That scene with the glasses guy Madoka who survived and had a hunch she anticipated the gun attacks was a big hint.
I think going after the gun devil was just a convenient step in Makima's goals since it aligned with what the government wanted. Her goal from beginning to end was to defeat CSM so she could control him, and to do that she needed to draw him out by giving Denji hope, and then dropping him into despair.
Fujimoto doesn't like to show useless things, so him not showing the government officials after the gun terrorist incident is probably meant to highlight all the inconsistencies that Makima alone presents to manipulate the situation to her favour. It's probably intentional that when Makima later explains the fake operation to steal gun parts from other countries to Aki, she's in the same room where she's had to report up to the government, except later she's the one in full control and now on the side that's giving orders.

So chainsaw man is perfect for me, it's colorful and fun and fucking crazy with a blonde protagonist but with total heart, I mean sure it's funny that he wants to feel some tits but for him that's what he considers love, so when he gets to and he feels nothing he's broken because that isn't what he was really looking for.

He's just a kid looking for someone to love him but everytime he thinks he's found that person they were just being nice to him because his chainsaw, so now he's absolutely determined to naturally expose his identity as chainsaw man so that people would love him because that's the only way he thinks people could, it's funny sure with his tits goal at the beginning and trying to expose himself to get the ladies but when you really think about it it's just depressing

He just wants people to love him but the only way he thinks that's possible is if people know he's chainsaw man because that's what history has taught him, and that's what I love so much about this series, it's funny and crazy but deeper it's just got so much heart and about something so pure.

So we know that most devils make contracts with humans trading either one or multiple parts of their limbs or flesh for the humans or anything else that might be of equal value to gain the devils power, but where does it all go ? im asking this based on the fact that a humans life span can be stored and turned into weapons by angel devil, makima's contract with the japanese prime minister, and when santa clause traded his children for hell devils power.

When the gun devil appeared it wasnt in its complete form and there were human heads spread across its chest, there's also darkness devils appearence.

I speculate that maybe they're reserved in hell for when stronger devils manifest in hell or respawn in the human world like with makima and nayuta, and probably fami.

Just genuinely curious here this isnt me hoping to see himeno again at some point but it would be the funniest thing if fujimoto had death devil appear on earth with her body, thoughts ?
My initial assumption was that they just ate whatever they were offered, with a better taste for a more important organ. But its weird with more abstract offerings like senses and lifespan.

Even so maybe for devils it does have a physical form, really tasty lifespan-juice.
I think the appearances of the devils is entirely based on the fear. Guns themselves arent exactly what created the gun devil, but gun violence.

The "guns dont kill people, people kill people" line of thinking, maybe?

Same with fear of the dark being something hiding in it.

Also not impossible that nothing happens and the devils just do it to make chaos for the humans both by taking from them and letting them be used as weapons against other humans.

Denji, the main character, is a boy who is suddenly given the burden of paying his deceased dads debt. As he lays near the grave sobbing, he finds an injured chainsaw devil. He decides to help it and in return tells the devil to help him pay his debt. In order to do so they engage in killing devils that manifest through humanities fears. The devils all portray a certain characteristic that correlates with their name. For example, the gun devil has a gun for a head and so on.
The most interesting thing about this anime is that the Denji has the unique ability to erase the existence of any devil he consumes. Once he consumes that devil the world forgets about that devil, more specifically what that devil represents.

One significant part of the anime is that Denji can’t transform if he doesn’t have a good supply of blood. Denji transforms into his chainsaw devil mode by pulling a cord on his chest. If he gets injured in a fight beforehand, causing him to lose a lot of blood, then he won’t be able to transform into his hybrid devil form.

Denjis show of affection for his boss Maki has been repeated throughout the episodes.

Every time Denji needs a wakeup call or a morality boost all he has to do is think about Maki and the promises she made to him. Every time she promises him something, Denji rushes to do her bidding even if his life is on the line.

That made me wonder, does she really love him? It seemed suspicious that every time she needed a devil to be killed or restrained, she would promise him something like a kiss or a hug. I also thought, is Denji an idiot?

I felt like any normal person would realize they were being controlled but I guess not.

As the show progresses, I wonder, what if Denji wasn’t on the verge of death? What if he didn’t have to merge with the chainsaw devil to survive? Would he have met the same people he’s with now? How powerful is he going to get?

Of course, you dumbasses are still seething about the ending. It was the perfect ending to this masterpiece.

The anons who are complaining about it are generally self-inserters (who wanted him to go for 100℅ rumbling and then return back to Paradis as the new king of Eldia and stay in chad mode forever) , EHfags and the garbage AnR enthusiasts (which is a complete insult to Yams and SnK).

I am sure that you guys would have still complained if we would have got a different one since people can never be satisfied and will always keep hating and complaining for no reason just like the themes of SnK.

And, yeah it did feel a bit rushed since it seems that the author was forced to meet his deadline and wrap up SnK ASAP by his editor and publisher and also due to time constraint.

Hopefully that will be sorted out in the anime by Mappa and we will get a few additional/extended scenes to flesh it out more.

The manga already said that Yoshida's tenure in public safety only lasted a month.

The government was not "pro-Makima" it had 0 idea of what Makima's intentions were, Kishibe represents the government in being against the control devil.

Only thing is that the government raised Makima and was a benefactor of Makima's power.

It was Kishibe that wanted Nayuta to be nonexistent to the government, for that reason.

Yoshida's organization still seems to be about destroying the other horsemen exactly the same thing that Makima wanted.

>Erm excuse me, what kind of roast do you serve at this establishment? I prefer about a medium roast, but allow me to explain the differences.
>Light Roast coffees are characterized by their light brown color, lack of oil on the beans, and light body (or viscosity). These beans are allowed to reach a temperature of about 350º–410º. When roasting, beans typically pop at around 350º. This popping sound—known as the “first crack”—serves as the cue that the beans have reached a Light Roast.
>Medium Roast coffees are brown and have a little thicker body than a Light Roast. Unlike Light, Medium starts to take on a bit of the taste from the roasting process, losing some of the bright floral flavors that are typical of a Light Roast. Instead, they carry much more of a balanced flavor with a medium amount of caffeine. A Medium is roasted until just before the second crack, usually at about 410º–440º.
>Dark Roast coffees are dark brown, even close to a blackened color. The beans are characterized by drawn-out oil that glosses the surface. Coffee made from a Dark Roast has a robust, full body. The flavors from the coffee’s country of origin are almost entirely roasted out, taking on a very bold and smoky taste.

>To be considered Dark, beans roast to a temperature ofanything higher than 440º or essentially the end of the second crack. If beans roast much hotter than 465º, the coffee will start to taste more and more of charcoal.

>Yoshida makes a remark about the Death Devil out of nowhere.
>Yoshida was knowledgeable on Makima’s hearing abilities, much to the surprise of Kishibe.
>Yoshida and Asa/Yoru are the only three people who have acknowledged Famine’s presence thus far. Though Famine was seen standing with the DHC, they have never once interacted with her; they never even asked for her whereabouts which is odd if we’re led to believe she was with them up until the time she confronted Asa and took Yoru away.
>Yoshida being affiliated with the Octopus Devil can be a nod towards the story of the “Immortal Octopus”, which is a Japanese poem written by Sakutaro Hagiwara which details the story about an octopus who is left in a long since abandoned aquarium, miraculously still alive. Eventually, the octopus tries to end its own life by devouring itself until there was nothing left. The octopus is seemingly successful on its suicide attempt. It appears to have disappeared completely. Only, that’s not the truth. The octopus, though now invisible, is still very much alive, and turns out, is immortal. The octopus yearns for death for all eternity, but is deprived of it thanks to its curse.
>(余は死だ) Yo wa shida = I am death.

>Kiga wanted Asa to turn Denji in a weapon
>Yoshida wanted to protect Denji
>Yoshida is giving Kiga an evil know-it-all stare
Even if Yoshida's organization has an evil secret objective and will betray Denji, I doubt they are working with Kiga.
Counterpoints:
>Yoshida probably knows about Asa, since he knows about Kiga
>He is the one that introduced Asa to Denji
I think that right now trying to explain any of this is a waste of time since there seem to be a bigger scheme involving Justice devil, not-Chainsawman and Asa's dreams. And the explaination behind it all might be something completely stupid, like Makima's love for Pochita in part 1.

I think Pochita is gonna eat Death and Fami at the start of next chapter since they're already dead.
Then Pochita will give Denji control, and Denji Asa Yoru are gonna fuck off together for a while (I'd say a month or so, until the school festival (and prophecy)).
Asa Denji Yoru are gonna have a similar time for this month like when Agni and Judah were playing family together.
Then, before the prophecy/the day of the prophecy, Public Safety (with Fumiko leading) will do a last ditch-plan to kill Yoru.
From there I have no other thoughts.

Alright fine. I will post my Kobeni-Kiga TRUTH fact again, but in the abridged version.
>Kobeni is contracted with Kiga, or rather is a host to Kiga in the same way Asa is.
>Kiga enjoys destitution. This much should be clear, since she is famine.
>Her "contract" went something along the line of "I will keep you safe, you won't die, but it will be almost impossible for you to ever get rich/happy".
>Kobeni is scared of dying, among many other things. She took the deal and then agreed to join the Devil Hunters, since she knows she can't really die anyway.
>When things get serious, Kiga takes over and dispatches of her enemies.
>It's likely that Makima knew, since she could never mind control Kobeni. Which makes her pretty unique by the way, since there is no other reasonable way why Makima would consider Kobeni "above her".
>Kiga however enjoys the company of her sisters and thus forced/guided Kobeni to be in Makima's division
>So the Devil Hunter higher ups knew, told her to keep it a secret. Since Kiga is not necessarily aggressive towards humans, they accepted it the same way they accepted Makima.
Connect the dots bros!
>Kobeni survives hell and her arms reattached. Why did they reattach? Aki had no such luck.
>Kobeni survives the encounter with the actual Chainsaw Devil. And Makima. And both of them battling. She is one of 3 survivors of that entire division.
>She wanted to leave the stressful Devil Hunter job so badly, but never did. Because she couldn't? "Bonus checks are coming" my ass.
>When she did leave the Hunters, she got roped right back in when Denji showed up.
In part 2 things have changed now. Makima was defeated. One of her beloved sisters. Eaten. Now that's a crossed red line if there ever was one for Kiga. She becomes active.
>Notice how Kiga calls Denji stupid. She doesn't seem to like him, and she sure as fuck don't want to see another sister getting BTFO'd by Denji.

>Asa buys clothes for the date, Yoru suggests something sexy
>She relents, but does so anyways (pure horny at this point)
>Denji and Asa meet. Yoshida is looking from a near bench and Fami is on a near roof.

>Show up panel at Denji's house
>Denji tells her to mimic him when they enter
>Cleans his shoe on the mat before entering, puts his shoes neatly and puts on slippers
>Screams "I'm home", Nayuta greets him in a low voice
>Appears with the dogs to welcome Denji, stares at Asa
>Denji goes to the bathroom, comes back and tells Asa to do the same
>Asa goes to the bathroom and finds Yoru missing
>She gets out and finds Nayuta on a staredown with Yoru.
>Denji goes to the other room and calls Nayuta, but she ignores it and keeps staring at Yoru.
(Rest hasn't been leaked, so it might leave on a cliffhanger there, this might be the last leak at least from the recent leaknon if what the poster of related said was true.)

I like how War Devil's development has fleshed out how Horseman powers work a bit more.
I doubt Fujimoto thought too much about how Makima's powers really, really worked and she jobbed at some opportune times for being the Conquest Devil.
Horseman powers being a mindset with self-confidence being a factor adds to Makima's scenes.
>Power gets the upper hand because of Pochita's vore idea, confusing Makima, meaning Makima couldn't just control her: she knew Power circumnavigated her plans (somehow) and the Blood Devil itself was a real fight.
>Makima lashed out her headcanon on her true love and was shown to be completely wrong, her arrogance against Denji being her downfall. Once Denji fucked her up with the bloodsaw, her self-confidence was in the shitters and she could not control Denji.

>Yoru
Literally just the doujinshi. She doesn't really know what sex is, but knows it will produce a weapon and does what you tell her to, blankly. No more, no less. The chemicals produced from Asa's body/brain would make her feel funny. She might even learn to enjoy it if she doesn't become upset that you aren't turning into a weapon.

>Power
She'll be scared and submissive at first, not really understanding the process until she learns that it's nothing that bad. Once she's comfortable it'll be an uncoordinated, energetic mishmash of wrestling and sex.

>Kobeni
Imagine your average JAV star. Super submissive, squealing, etc, except much sweatier and more slobber. She'll be so slippery that it'll be hard to keep a grip. No gag reflex whatsoever.

>Asa
Pretty bad lay. She'll speak confidently on the matter before, but completely dead fish during the act, stiff as a board, white knuckling the sheets. You might be able to get a few reluctant moans out of her, but she's treating it like a roller coaster ride that she just wants to end.

>Reze
If you're a target, it'd be like a western porn star. Exaggerated moaning, dirty talk, and a lot of different positions. She's good at what she's been trained to due. You can tell she's faking it, but it's hard to care.
If she cares about you it'd be a much more sensual experience. A lot of foreplay and kissing, she might even cry some. During the act you can tell she's a pro by the way she moves her hips.

>Himeno
Just a good, light-hearted shag. Lots of giggling. She's energetic and knows what she is doing. She might push your boundaries and try to stick a finger in your bum or something.

You know, the popular theory and the point of Tolka is to foreshadow Denji's relationship with Makima so he'll end up being completely in control by someone who poses to be a maternal figure to a naive boy.

But what I really got from it is from her talk about making the perfect doll. Adoration, worship, pity and guilt are key ingrediants. But don't these all fit into Aki instead?

The chapters after the assassin arc leads up to Aki changing his mind on chasing the Gun devil because he pities devils like Angel and feels guilty on using Denji as bait and almost losing Power and Denji in hell.

He admires and worships Makima but only at the last part of his autonomy would he question why he thinks so highly of her until she turns him into a empty and obedient doll.

Just like Santa did to Tolka.

>Why is domination so strong if most people irl aren't really specifically afraid of being dominated by others?

Ironically she really isn't all that powerful. Her abilities rely on her own perception of others as "lesser" and a plethora of contracts she's basically funneled from one human to the other.

Her "invincibility" is literally covered by the Japanese government, almost every one of her attacks other than the finger gun are a contract from one of her subservient retard followers or literally just giving orders for them to attack, and her control abilities rely on them submitting to her first. Power, despite being submissive to Makima in every single scene she's in, broke out of it and actually attacked Makima twice. It should also be noted that virtually every attack leveled at Makima has been devastating to her body, and she's cruising purely on the fact that the damage gets sent outwards after she's received an attack.

The story has also already implied Chenso Devil fucked all of the four horsemen up severely and weakened all of them to a massive degree.

Makima's "power" wouldn't exist without her pawns. Kiga's powers have shown to be debatably strong at best.

Yoru can make a weapon out of things and so far has only killed one idiot with a body warped by the Justice Devil.

I hate Part 2 for being largely fucking nothing except regressing Denji's character arc just to artificially prop up a worse version of him to the point Asa/Yoru is just doing WORSE and more asspull versions of what Makima was doing like making contracts with government leaders to keep herself safe or using Pochita to save herself from dying. >Why is domination so strong
She literally loses a fistfight with Power once she no longer uses her parlor tricks.

The entire point of Part 1 as its presented, is that you don't have to sell yourself: You can sell other people, or even abstract concepts. Selling yourself won't gain you anything, as you lose a part of yourself, making you lesser.
All the wackiest shit in Part 1 involves somebody else paying the bill for the devil power, and it turns out the Japanese PM was stupid enough to kneel to her, which resulted the entire chain of events.
Her power is just really simple: If you kneel to her metaphorically or physically, you submit, so she mind controls you into doing whatever she wants. Which leads to sheenigans, such as collecting people who kneel to her and making them into zombies.

>Why is domination so strong if most people irl aren't really specifically afraid of being dominated by others?
Control, domination and conquest are all moderately scary due to the existence of hierarchies in society. That said, Makima is that powerful only because she worked her way up in the Japanese government, something that gave her access to a lot of resources to power up. Think of her as a power/ability stealer, the more time and resources, the strongest.
>Why is war, a concept that involves more grand acts of violence between groups of people only seemingly able to pull weapons out of their ass?
War was severely weakened by the former chainsawman. We know the holocaust and the nazi were erased from existence after their respective devil was devoured, that means there was no ww2.
Nuclear weapons were also erased, meaning no cold war.
That said, she's still very strong since she can force contracts on others like Makima did so long she perceives ownership. That's busted.
I suspect that the fact that all weapon based devils we know of have been made into hybrids and the hybrids name was erased also have something to do with the war devil's weakening.
>Why is the arrow one so powerful when I've literally never heard of a person deathly scared of arrows?
Quanxi is hailed as the 1st devil hunter. Perhaps she merged with the arrow devil whle was still strong, i.e. before firearm became wodespread. Back then arrows and bows were the highest kill rate weapons by a long shot.
>What happened to the last skin changer brother? Did he just stay in character or did I miss something?
He ran away.
>How did Denji incapacitate DoD if it had the 'pm of japan' failsafe?
The Japan failsafe took a while to activate as seen in the train shootout. Denjis attack constantly destroyed her from within as power's blood ravaged her insides. Then he chopped her to pieces and ate her, something that did not count as an attack since it was done with love.

>Why is domination so strong if most people irl aren't really specifically afraid of being dominated by others?
Fear of control in general is pretty widespread, but the fact that she was given power by the Japanese government directly is what made her that powerful, her power relies on her belief of being superior to the one she wants to control and her status as a whole
>Why is war, a concept that involves more grand acts of violence between groups of people only seemingly able to pull weapons out of their ass?
yoru’s power relies on belief like makima, she needs to believe she owns something for her to turn it into a weapon, I think all horseman devils will have similar abilities where they need to believe in something for their powers to activate
>Why is the arrow one so powerful when I've literally never heard of a person deathly scared of arrows?
Given that guns were outlawed and even devil hunters have to use melee weapons to fight devils, crossbow devil got that big of the boost since crossbows are the next best thing to a gun
>What happened to the last skin changer brother? Did he just stay in character or did I miss something?
He either got Halloween’d offscreen or was just mimicking the dolls so he could escape, my guess is that he got halloween’d and is now on a jail cell since he was distressed on his last panels, like he couldn’t stop if he wanted to
>How did Denji incapacitate DoD if it had the 'pm of japan' failsafe?
Makima’s contract kicks in after a minute or two while her damage is getting transfered to a random citizen in japan, she ran out of quick revives after her fight with pochita, adding the blood devil chainsaw that slowed her healing, it gave denji enough time to cut her up to incapacitate her, what denji did was his version of love, he basically ate makima with the intention of becoming one with her, abusing a loop in the contract that protects makima from death thus the contract didn’t activate, killing her

Her "bang" power was not related to the PM or her other contracts, yet she was really powerful with that alone.

At first glance, you wouldn't even realize that Kiga and Yoru are horsemen just from their presence alone if it weren't for their eye patterns.

Sure you can justify Makima's powerful nature with the explanation we were given later on in the story, but I think it's fair to say that these two got nerfed for the sake of the plot and imo. it dulls my original perception of the Horsemen going from Part 1.

I can't help but think it was way too early to introduce Kiga, especially since we have already been focusing on another prominent Horseman whose weakened state was at least explained very early on.

If for example Makima was replaced with Kiga in the last chapter, she would have just one shotted Yoshida with her "Bang".

I don't get that same intimidating aura from either of them.

Paneling reminds me a lot of Baki, funnily enough, pic related.

For a brainlet like me, I have to say, didn't pay much attention, these last couple of chapters have been bretty bretty gud.
I didn't pay any attention at first, but these chapters have been "learning the ropes of Asa's ability."
It's established that Asa is able to manifest anything of her belonging into a weapon, right?
Well, come to find out, sherlock, "how does she make things belong to her?"
As a reader, I still wonder about this myself, AND SO SEEM TO BE ASA AND WAR DEVIL, BECAUSE THEY HAVE NO FUCKING CLUE MAN.

Some insights:
> Had some monologue in the aquarium about things always turning out bad/her having no sense of moral, not knowing what is right or wrong (Might be foreshadowing that she needs to acquire a sense of justice? No clue man)
> Ability Exhibit A) possession in form ownership
> tries to buy aquarium
> "I feel like I afforded this, therefore it belongs to me."
> doesn't work out
> devil releases them out of the aquarium loop anyway and asks "are you a dumbass?"

> Ability Exhibit B) possession in form of affection/love
> I have the feeling this is a red-herring
> I think we are to believe this doesn't work because Denji is Chainsaw Man
> it might also just be....that her ability doesn't work in that manner

I predict to find out how this shit exactly works some time in the future.

Unless Fujimoto is arbitrarily making “rules” on a whim for plot convenience, nothing on this page makes a semblance of sense.

The single statue of War Devil's power, as demonstrably proven in chapter 116, is that is predicated on "perception."

The aquarium did not “belong” to Asa: she merely deluded herself that it was.

Tanaka was also “perceived” as a possession due to his lust for Asa, and he was weaponized as a result.

Similarly, Denji was “perceived” by Yoru as a possession: yet the power had no effect.

Denji undoubtedly likes Asa, so her “theory” makes no sense.

Even if he did not, it should be irrelevant as the only pertinent factor is what Asa/Yoru feels.

The only way this can be reconciled with chapter 116 is that there must be a subconscious ‘mental block’ inhibiting Asa/Yoru from recognizing Denji as a possession.

And in this case, it would be less “he doesn’t like me” and more “I don’t think he likes me.” And for a recluse with no friends and minimal self esteem, that would make sense for Asa.

But that is just me attempting to make sense of this based on pre-established facts.

Because Asa’s current conclusion completely contradicts what she learned in the aquarium.

>>
Stuff Yoru has slept through:
>Asa asking her if she was afraid of being forgotten
>Yuko showing up at the apartment (Asa was choked during this, could have been attacked)
>Asa asking her for more info about Famine
combine all this with Famine's ability to just yank Yoru out of Asa whenever she wants, I'm starting to think that it's less Yoru just being super cute and more Famine deliberately making her fall asleep so she doesn't give Asa any clues/backstory or interfere with her plans (as the thing with Yuko is what got Asa to open to turning someone into a weapon). The thing with Yoru being unable to take Asa over when she's afraid makes more sense if Famine was interfering there as well, as that situation with the Bat Devil and Yuko mirrors the Aquarium and Denji (Yoru can't take over Asa, so Asa has to turn someone into a weapon or die).

>the control devil is a devil that looks like human
Control/Conquest could easily have a chibi version similar to War's owl that just hasn't been shown.
>Nayuta doesn't have any of her contracts and memories of Makima
You have no idea about contracts. As for memories, it's quite feasible that you would lose them after being eaten piece by piece.

Time will tell.

When Denji meets Kishibe in 97, he states that he ate it all. This is new information to Kishibe, implying that he recently finished eating her while Kishibe was abroad and found Nayuta.

>In China, REINCARNATED
The word reincarnation is never used. Just that Nayuta was discovered in China without Makima's memories. This has already been addressed.
>He ate enough of her to be unable to regenerate and die
Headcanon. That's stated nowhere.
>Because Power is a BLOOD DEVIL
That was never the justification given for her staying alive inside Denji. More pure headcanon.
>Which he withdrew later saying "I guess you accidentally found a way around her contract"
Thanks for the contribution to my point. Kishibe really has no idea what happened, expresses doubt about the process working, asks Denji how he managed to kill someone "untouchable", and cponcludes his plan "probably" worked by chance, due to her contract, or due to her perception of Denji. He also says she "shouldn't" have her memories, nothing conclusive.
In other words, Kishibe doesn't actually know shit. He's guessing. So is Denji. Next chapter will vindicate this point and make it obvious.

>Until anything is presented besides this contrived argumentation that there is no other possibility
It is not that there is "no other possibility" - it is that there is NO REASON to presume there MUST be another possibility. You have provided nothing substantive and your self proclaimed 'well considered theory' is predicated on conjecture as opposed to sound evidence. You then proceed to vomit ad hominem at everyone who points out how fallacious your 'argument' is, which makes your 'points' all the more vacuous. They are entirely based on "Nayuta being found too quickly." To which you concocted an entire headcanon in explanation. Yes, Nayuta was found "quickly." It is called plot convenience. Which you should be acutely intimate with if you read this manga. Kishibe inexplicably finding Makima's reincarnation in another country is also part of said plot convenience. It is not our fault you are unable to conceptualize something as basic as a weakened Control Devil getting BTFO in Hell shortly after spawning. Bat and Eternity also died and came back in a rather small window. Are they suspicious too?

Can your headcanon happen? Sure? Is there a reason for the rest of us to explore it in light of a more reasonable alternative? Not at all. Especially with how very little we have seen of Nayuta.

Kishibe makes it known he disbelieves Denji's method will kill Makima. And in case this is too much for that walnut sized cluster of meat you pass off as a 'brain' to understand, he was referring to Makima's contract with the PM which makes her nigh immortal. Nothing else. Denji was able to bypass the clauses of her contract: killing her, much to Kishibe's wonder. However, your delusions led you to interpolate something that never happened: "unrevealed contracts" and Nayuta being "found way too quickly." Do not get me started on:

>It's much more likely that the shadowy organization that the Four Horsemen are implicated in preserved her existence on earth.

Yes, because Makima died before Denji consumed her entire body. Did her lack of not regenerating in the refrigerator not give that away? How dense are you? You even fabricate headcanons such as "Makmia definitely wouldn't be dead until her entire corporeal being is consumed" in a vain attempt at corroborating your delusions. The actual answer is that Denji is perhaps immune to being weaponized because he's a hybrid, or maybe that Asa/Yoru can't turn something into a weapon if they both disagree, which Asa may be subconsciously doing because she likes Denji but refuses to admit it to herself.

Regardless, Asa's response makes sense in as far as she's a bit of an idiot femcel who hates herself, and decided against her own knowledge to accept the explanation that allows her to act like a pouty child and be mad at the guy who's interested in her, not unlike Travis Bickle getting mad at that lady when she breaks up with him after he took her to a porno flick.

Her response isn't logical, and she's perhaps being more obtuse than she should be, but it makes emotional sense for the character to jump to that sort of conclusion, rather than say exploring the possibility that Denji may actually be Chainsaw Man and she can't turn him into a sword.

There's also the obvious explanation that Fujimoto needed Asa to be slightly irrational so that she would get mad and we'd get to a wacky Romcom misunderstanding between her and Denji that could resolve itself later in a moment of drama

Why the bath scene actually supports Denjipowa instead of denying it:

Not feeling sexually attracted to her at that moment is irrelevant and does not disqualify possible future attraction. Power was extremely vulnerable and fragile at that moment. Love or platonic, it would be very shitty of him to feel excited at her time of need.

By the end of part 1, he had the strongest bond with power out of all the females he met, and it'll probably stay that way if he gets her back any time soon.

Narratively, being lustful has brought nothing but problems for Denji, and what I see becoming very likely in part 2 or further in the future, is him realizing that a romance coming purely out of sexual attraction isn't stable, and won't last. That realization would lead him to falling in love with the person he has the most general attraction towards: Power.

Denji not feeling exited in the bath does not mean that he couldn't fathom seeing Power in a sexual light. He's lusted after her before, proving that it is possible for him to find her attractive, though it does not necessarily prove he loves her. The fact that he likes her enough to not need sexual motivation to care of her when she needed it is more of a foundation for a real relationship than he's had with any other woman.

Fujimoto has made repeated hints and innuendos towards these two becoming an item in the future. Denji X Power is endgame.

>As predicted, Yoru could not turn Denji into a weapon for some reason. The exact reason why still remains to be pinned down
Damn, Asa already trying trying to Netflix and chill on the second date.
I was curious what the price range of their date would be in modern American dollars so I did some rough calculations.
The Japanese exchange rate was $1 = ¥119 on January 27th 1997. So ¥2000/119 = $16.80. Adjusting for inflation, that makes Denji’s movie marathon roughly $31.34 in modern American dollars. If that was the cost for admission for each one of them, that’s $62.64. Making for a pretty pricey second date for two high-schoolers. Especially since Deji is ripping off homeless people for a job and Asa is probably living off of her mothers inheritance.Asa is right that they would save money by renting VHS. I couldn’t find much info about Japanese VHS rental prices in the 90s but Blockbuster rentals (some of you may be too young to even know what I’m talking about) were usually about $5 for new releases and $2.99 for older movies. So even if they got 5 new releases to keep them up until 2 AM, they’d still only pay about $25 total or $12.50 each if they split it. Which adjusting for inflation again would be roughly $46.64 or $23.32 if they both paid the same amount. Not a huge saving but pretty significant. If they went with older release mummy movies, they could potentially only have to spend $15-$20 which would only be roughly $27.98 to $37.31. The cheapest way to go would be to get a few older release movies and maybe one new release for a total of $18 which would be ¥2142 or ¥1071 from both of them. That’s almost half of cost for each of them and both of them could watch movies for almost the cost of one ticket to Denji’s movie marathon if we’re assuming it’s ¥2000 per ticket.
My calculations may be somewhat off, but hopefully they’re close enough to put into scope what kind of date Denji was proposing back then!

Then after Yuko's disappearance, Asa decides to finally try to turn someone into a weapon to free herself from Yoru. At first glance this is a selfish thing to do but then when you see that her reasonning is that she thinks that less people overall will end up being hurt the sooner she creates a human weapon, you realise that she's acting somewhat selflessly by accepting to bear the guilt of turning a guy into a weapon so less people have to suffer in the end.

Then in the last chapter I felt like we once again saw Asa acting in a selfless way for selfish reasons but it might be a bit more up to interpretation. When Denji come to her to ask for the movie date, she makes herself very difficult by refusing to go to the movies and then telling Denji "we don't have to have a date then" when he hesitate for a couple of seconds about inviting her to his home.

At first it only seems like she's mad at him because of her interpretation of what happened earlier in the chapter, and she definitely is mad.

But even though she might not realise it, by subtly trying to call the date off, she's actually unconsciously trying to protect Denji by distancing herself from him and going against the order from Yoru. So even if she's acting selfishly by being mad at him, getting away from Denji like she kinda tried to do would have been a selfless thing that might have gotten her in trouble

this is my first manga ever but I had to say something about this last chapter (I have no one irl to talk to about this so here we goooo):

I love this series and these past few chapters have been something else for me. The suspense and uncertainty; Fujimoto has me so devoted to the next release it’s not even funny. I love Asa and Denji, I’m interested to see how this relationship develops. Will Denji finally have some romantic satisfaction?? I don’t really know and I feel like I’m still in throws from our experience with Reze :(

At first, I was so hesitant at the introduction of Asa but now I find myself so intrigued by her. Denji reminiscing about Power after their humorous date at the aquarium really solidified that for me. Seeing her feel a little hurt thinking that Denji doesn’t actually like her back got me. I’m such a hopeless romantic… this is scratching the itch for me.

What’s to come with our new control devil Nayuta? Denji’s response to Asa about house rules has me so intrigued. I’m eager to see Denji at home with Nayuta. I like to imagine he tries to replicate what Aki did for him and Power.

14 days needs to come sooner.

>take into account the targets perception when the target has a conscience. I.e. how angel was able to break free for a moment, how power was able to break free of makima as well, etc.
Fringe cases of a target temporarily breaking free of a Horsemen's power, do not constitute that their powers take into account the target's perception. You are extrapolating that based on a single event. From what information we have, both Makima and Asa/Yoru's powers are based entirely on their own perceptions of superiority and ownership respectively. This is what the story confirms to the reader beyond all reasonable doubt. The target's own perception is inconsequential: whether they have a mind or not. Whether it is Tanaka's spine or the aquarium, once War recognizes it has "hers": they are potential weapons. The situation you described would be applicable if War turned Denji into a weapon, but Denji was somehow able to regain awareness and consequently become unusable (eg. Angel being controlled and later breaking free of Makima's control briefly.) Of course, there could be more revelations in the story to elucidate on this at a later date. But I am going into this with as few assumptions as possible for the time being.

There are three women a boy meets on his way to becoming a man.
The infatuation. The shining and impossible, terrifying perfection. Bourne of ignorance and romanticism.
The first love. The one you "click" with. Who first forces you to participate in the game of courtship and romance and actual connection.
And the deep bond.
The one that you actually share experiences with. The one who you see enough of yourself in to both respect and loathe, as you do yourself. The one that were you to really ask who you'd rather spend your time around, is the one you have been deciding to spend your time with anyway.
Power is a symbol of what actual love is. Clumsy, crude, awkward. But genuine, selfless, and nurturing.
You can not truly be in love with someone you would not see as your friend. I think that's where a lot of the Japanese interpretations of sibling connectivity gets muddled.
Denji does love Power. And she loves him. Because they both spent the time and effort to see each other beyond those surface level delusions we all associate, and are deceived by, when we think of love.
It is a messy and ugly thing in parts. Vulnerability. Trust.
That is what makes a love. That's what they were to each other.

Why Denji Will End Up With Power; They Are Soulmates. [IN-DEPTH PROOF + EXPLANATION]

>Denji carries Power bridal style after saving her, even though he had to reason to even put his life in danger to save her in the first place.
>In Grope scene, they both shortly get turned on.
You might say that he was turned on with every girl, but just keep in mind the fact that Denji did in fact find Power attractive.
>Denji threw himself to the dolls because he thought she was about to be turned into one
This means that he was ready to sacrifice himself for her or not live if she didn't. Times Denji has preferred dying over living without Power: 1.
>Power had the cake for Denji out of her own love for him.
There was no logical reason for which Makima would have Power make or get the cake before bringing it. It would just take more time, and would be for nothing. Power must have chosen to get the cake out of her own free will as a way if showing how much she cared about Denji in another way which he might understand.
>Power sacrifices herself for Denji, doing more for Denji than any other person before.
Power is the only girl to both like Denji as well as the only girl Denji sees as more than a sexual item.
>Blood sucking on bed was Power doing the most intimate thing she knew with Denji, it was a metaphor for sex, and was obviously drawn in a very sexually suggestive.
>In the cafe, Power walked in just some guy said the perfect girl would come along for Denji.
>In dumpster, Denji admits that in order to want to live, he needs her. Denji, again, didn't want to live in a world without Power, until Power made a promise for her to come back.

Denji being a passive character that is just there is kinda stupid, considering part 2 has way more cliches than part 1. Like for example, why have him say shit like "I actually know more than you do" or whatever when Asa was talking about the hunters. He either cares or he doesn't, not this pointless in between that goes against his motivation this time. He wants people to know he's chenso, but when others try to stop him he doesn't fight back or just show Asa his chest and is all vague about it while claiming he just wants to be a chair and nothing else.

>>283397196

Asa has the same retarded problem with Yoru. The time wasting back and forth repeating over and over empty threats and making choices for stupid reasons that are there to just drag the plot.

And I think Fujimoto and his assistants are using 3D models as a base this time, so Denji and others look more like MAPPA Denji. That contributes to his new look too and why he doesn't feel like part 1 Denji. Fujimoto's "I have 2 seconds to draw the face" technique is gone in this work

The CSM anime doesn't even do that. The Tokyo in chainsaw is just a normal ass urban city and doesn't really do anything to stand out. The parts it cover in the anime(urban streets, Aki's apartment, the Public safety building, himeno's place, the hotel(god those episode looked bad) and katana's building/sub cart etc) don't havethe feeling of rust or being worn and weathered in the manga. And for the two parts that should have rush(zombie devil fight and future devil appearance) it's there. Just the lighting or color palette makes it blend in. Both the Dorohedoro anime and manga give off a more pronounced scenery of urban decay.

>but it is far from soulless

Just looks like jjk or aot to me anime wise. Not my style I guess, visually speaking.

>I don't really see a difference. Though you seem to have re watched both recently
JJK compositing is just plain bad a lot of the time and it brings down the show a lot https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SCWIDPhN-ao
Luckily for JJK fans there's no way in hell MAPPA doesn't realize that. So JJK season 2 will probably mog season 1.

>Enlighten me? I feel like I am missing something when it comes to the chainsaw man anime.
Hard to point to one moment because it's just the majority of the show. They tried to shoot it like a movie. The amount of interesting perspectives dwarfs anything else to come out recently (that I've seen). Simulating a lens focus, heavy incorporation of reflections, Zack Snyder zooms, etc. Nearly everything that happens inside Himeno's apartment is presented in a creative way, so I'd say just watch the beginning of episode 8 if you want a dose of what I'm talking about.

>a lot of anime get a pass for having meh animation by supplementing with great action scenes
Yeah, that's kind of how anime works. Almost none of them have enough to animare everything to the best level, so they allocate resources to the most important parts depending on a show, and for action series it should be obvious that the focus is on the action. This allocation is what defines certain studios for me, SHAFT and TRIGGER have interesting ways of working around this issue and I'd argue what even earns there style. Anime has always been lower budget compared to western counterparts, so the only way this industry grew was by getting accustomed to this balance, and for the truly great ones even making their directorial style around it.
For CSM, it truly is one of the few TV anime which I'd say really did have enough resources to dedicate to all scenes. So yes, a lot individual shots are technically impressive, but what really broke the experience was the lack of cohesion. From the mix of CG and 2D, the obviousness to which shots were made by different animators, no more general things like how the EDs heavily contrasted with the rest of the show and recaps were reanimated for no reason.
The thing is, different styles isn't a necessarily bad thing, can work really well if intentional, but for the supposed grounded attempt by the director, it just didn't work out. I still have no idea why CG was used, it's clear they had the manpower for everything else, and it really didn't blend well. Great CG that season was in Bocchi and PopTeamEpic S2, just due to how subtle it was, or currently this season Trigun Stampede, where because they're doing everything in it it's also consistent as well. This inconcistency, from animation styles to directing styles, while ambitious, really didn't fit the landing in most eyes.

holy kek
to draw all that in 2D while still keeping the show's cinematic style would've taken god knows how long
as the sole funder, they of course had complete control over the anime and its schedule, but they still wanted to get it out as soon as possible
if you can't understand even that, then you really shouldn't be criticising shit in the first place
>>

>mixing 2D and 3D is bad
No. I just said that airing that season Bocchi the Rock and PTE S2 were shows which mixed 2D and 3D incredibly well. Other favorites of mine is the Kizumonogatari Trilogy, my personal crown jewel of japanese animation, which also uses CG Backgrounds and at times characters, yet it doesn't hinder it at all.
>different animators getting to show off their different styles is bad
No, I infact love when certain series do that, like Bakemonogatari or Tatami Galaxy. The thing is, for it to work it has to be designed around that from the ground up. It forces the viewer to remember they're watching a show, so in good examples they take that to the next level, by either using it comedically or to poke at the 4th wall. I just find that especially for the style the director of CSM wanted to take the show, it heavily clashed with this idea.
>Multiple EDs
I love when shows do that. But most shows with that still stick to their own style, not a vehicle for guest artists to do whatever they want, for a show that's doing ita hardest to be seen not as a regular anime.
>recapping episodes.
No issue with the recapping, my issue was how they chose to reanimate the scenes they already did, and the only reason to do that was if production was that split. Same reason why preanimated PVs are a waste.
>doesn't understand why they used cgi
Please educate me. Because they sure as fuck didn't use it for interesting camera composition compared to Orange Studios works, and doing things like the curse devil impaling katana man also show it wasn't to reduce costs, that was 1 frame which they decided to make a model which only appeared once.
>taken god knows how long
Are you saying this show couldn't have been done without CG? The entire industry worked without it for decades, it isn't a necessity, and CSM isn't a horribly hard thing to adapt either.

>You're not allowed to criticise it because the show was intentionally rushed
The fuck kind of argument is that. It's doubly retarded if they had control when to release it, which I doubt due to the music contracts for the EDs, as there's no good reason to try to minimise the amount of time an anime is being made. This is purely a side effect of MAPPA's greed, same with SnK S4, WIT refused to work on it since the deadline was too narrow, so MAPPA hopped on board, burned through many animators to release an unfinished product.
Any good show can take from 3 to 5 years to make, and they can still easily recoup if the show is succesfull. There's no pride to take in a studio doing the hardest they can to rush everything, in fact it's whats killing the industry.

>>283397286
>>283397292
It's a bit unfair because MAPPA took SnK knowing it would be a shit show, but this is a good example of what MAPPA does differently. They value motion above everything and push character acting even when they don't have the time to. Meanwhile WIT would just slide show anything that's not an action cut, but those action cuts are amazing. Anime fans are conditioned to slide show animation, but a janky albeit expressive cut of animation like the one you posted from SnK s4 will turn people off. I think it's the difference between people who like Naruto vs pain and people who dislike i

Chain saw man has proven to be so great, that a single message cannot convey the sheer brilliance of it. Regardless, I will try my hardest to convey the core concepts, that reveal CSM to be the greatest piece of fiction on this planet. To understand CSM one needs to explore the darkest and deepest secrets of heroism. To appreciate CSM is impossible in this post modernist type of society. Like many masterful pieces of fiction, such as, 1984, Macbeth, The Odyssey, Lord of The Flies, The Illiad & many others, it takes time to truly be unanimously appreciated by the true critiques. CSM cannot be fully appreciated until decades upon decades, centuries upon centuries and millennia upon millennia have passed.

To have at least a partial understanding of CSM, one must display a very high IQ. With this high intellect they must scavenge the depths of philosophy listed to Schrodinger, Faraday, Democritus, Newton, Aquinas, Aristotle, Socrates, Machiavelli, Rawls, Locke, Kant, Plato, Mises, Hobbes, Russel, Rousseau, Derrida, Ivo Andric, among many others, to grasp a mediocre understanding of the genius that is CSM.
I spend all my time researching ancient masterpieces such as, The Epic of Gilgamesh, Mtamorphosis, Tain Bo Cuailnge, The brothers Karamazov, and countless others to understand the complex characterization of many characters in CSM. Fujimbo is a pure genius, the amount of depth all the characters have is just, so, astonishing. No other writer has completed this very high standard of a feat before.
Every sentence Fujimbo writes, isn't just a sentence, but an industry changing event. He shows us the true nihilism of the world through CSM. Chainsww man is no mere story, but a reality interpreted from a piece of literature. It shows the darkness and the struggles of realism (Ex. Denji vs Aki47). With all this said, Fujimbo has far surpassed George Orwell.

I actually like the second part much more than the first part
I thought Aki was a blank character and Power was annoying and unrelatable
That chapter showing them spending time together as if they were friends before killing off Aki felt super forced, even though Power is incapable of giving a fuck about anyone, Denji doesn't feel a thing anymore and Aki had to literally babysit the two of them everyday
Denji as the main character also felt like a fucking shonen, his position in the story of the second part is preferrable

Does it matter what they cut out? Let's be honest Chainsawman is not getting a second season, and if it does it definitely won't be done by Mappa. I think they realized this part way through production, and at this point with how shitty and awful CSM2 is doing and the fact its a sequal means it wont' get boosted.

All of this to say that CSM anime is a useless product that benefits no one, not the manga because its finished, not the fans because its shit and not the sequel because its not connected to it at all. Another anon said it in in another thread, Chainsawman is fun to read but it's really nothing special as far as story. Fujimoto is good at drawing manga that is "Fun to read" because of his artstyle and paneling...but story wise? Meh.

>There is no proof that Nayuta will win!
Control being the main girl is enough proof, since Fuji only writes mc x fmc endgame. Nayuta is all of his fetishes in a single character and he even stated that FP and CSM are both based on the same story; Main girl who is also the antagonist doesn't care for mc, "dies", gets amnesia and age regression, MC raises her, falls for her, she becomes his sisterwife, they fuck. Nayuta x Denji is endgame.

You can cope and stay denial all you want, but you will get assblasted the day that the obvious thing has to happen. Fujimoto will deliver.

Denying Nayuden is denying Fujimoto.

Deal with it.

Been digging through the non-schizo interpretations of revelations regarding 6, supposedly this was written about roman decline, this is all the interesting shit I've found:

Conquest
>White rider was considered a good thing up until revelations as Christ (the lamb) by Christians, revelations denoted him as the herald of the apocalypse or the anti-christ.
>Supposedly he was deliberately depicted as not having arrows for his bow, as he didn't actually need them.
War
>The second Horseman may represent civil war as opposed to the war of conquest that the first
>the rider's possession of a great sword,
>The sword held upward by the second Horseman may represent war or a declaration of war, as seen in heraldry
Famine
>who sat on it had a pair of scales in his hand
>The third Horseman rides a black horse and is popularly understood to be Famine as the Horseman carries a pair of balances or weighing scales, indicating the way that bread would have been weighed during a famine. Other authors interpret the third Horseman as the "Lord as a Law-Giver" holding the Scales of Justice.
Death
>had the name Death, and Hades was following with him.
>This fourth, pale horse, was the personification of Death with Hades following him jaws open receiving the victims slain by Death.
>Unlike the other three, he is not described as carrying a weapon or other object, instead, he is followed by Hades (the resting place of the dead).
>horse is greenish
>>
lmao what caused this latest schizo meltdown
>>
>>283397361
Based, my personal interpretations are
>Conquest
The bow is bang, the crown is the halo (not very clear what it does though, we'll probably see).
>War
The sword is clearly relevant but we haven't seen it at all yet. It doesn't seem to be the ability to turn things into weapons, and based on how makima's bow worked it's probably a special ability we haven't seen yet. Might be related to why yoru doesn't like to turn weapons into swords?
>Famine
Scales mean that she controls the justice devil / the justice devil is a part of her.
>Death
Hades is the hell devil, presumably. I used to think it was a jobber but it was threatening enough that conquest needed csm, and even with csm it sent him to hell. Unfortunately csm is basically a hard counter since he can escape hell.

No. People have been literally skinned alive or turned into mush or had their brains completely wiped to make them subservient or had their hearts carved out or were eaten and then pooped out and reincarnated as a new person.

A rape scene, as in something traumatizing and "oh no the russian prison guard is raping this guy" would just come off as comedic, even if it tried to be serious.

Like denji and aki literally kicked that guy in the nuts until he passed out from the dick trauma, you can't have a serious rape in a manga like that it would feel like the author was trying to be serious in a story where horrible shit just randomly happens because the characters are stupid fucks that make contracts with eldritch elementals of evil in hopes they can fuck other people over. It wouldn't work.

The supposed true form of Pochita is not his true form, but perhaps the Chainsaw Man. It's kind of like his alter-ego, his superhero appearance and most likely what the devils see the most. That doesn't mean he's separate from Pochita though, again, it must be like his 'combat form'. As for the whole hugging part, he must not be able to hug anyone in his true form that's so weak when everyone in Hell was going for everyone's head.

Pochita's true form is actually the 'near-death' form that befriended Denji. That's why he's so dog-like and also why Makima recognizes the heart as Chainsaw's heart which is just a veiny little Pochita. She was not looking for Chainsaw Man really, she was looking for Pochita. Maybe...?? She seems to highly respect Chainsaw Man but also treats him almost like a toy to trash around, but as soon as she takes out Pochita's heart she becomes all cuddly and wishy-washy with it, enough for Denji to surprise-attack her.

Ok, I think I've cracked it. Pochita is a Hybrid Devil, possibly the very first one, created artificially by Horsemen (part of why he can't die no matter what, he is not part of nature)

At first it bothered me, how we are told that he ate the name but the hybrids didn't disappear because we have been specifically told before that Chainsaw Man needs to eat a Devil for that to happen. Idk how he ate the name (maybe some part of himself) but Hybrid Devil still exists and it's likely that it's him.

I think he was created to eat Devils that Horsemen wanted dead, probably to monopolize human fears (like how CSM ate 4 other possible outcomes for human life thus making Death stronger).

After some time he became impossibly strong and was able to fight even four Horsemen to get rid of their control. He even weakened War by eating part of her. All of the Horsemen were pissed except for Conquest who was fascinated (but still wanted to use him for similar purposes).

>Gun devil doesn't show up
>Aki doesn't die
>Denji doesn't go into a spiral of depression and allows Makima to speed up her plan
>Denji and Makima never meet at her appartment at the exact time Kishibe goes on with his swat team to take out makima
>Kishibe doesn't spend his Hell devil contract with Pochita and it rightfully sends Makima back into hell. (Her contracts go null also, so no people dying because of her)
>Aki, Denji and Power are free to spend Aki's last 2 years of life together

Literally a better ending for the world if the absolute egocentrical retard currently dominating burgerland didn't give what amounts to 350.000.000 years in what will be known as the most retarded contract in the history of Devilkind,

>After coming back from hell Denji asked if POWER and the rest were okay

Are they ever going to explain why Control, Famine and Death are cute girls whereas War is a weird owl thing?
>>
>>283397434

A few weeks ago I made a post to discuss whether or not Chainsaw Man is a social critique, and most of you said that It is just another shounen. While the series does feature intense action and battles, I'm certain that it also delves into deeper themes and that the characters in the series are complex and multi-faceted.
While most recognize how drama-oriented Chainsaw Man is, most also denied any deeper analysis of it. Some of you justified it by claiming that Fujimoto himself didn't intend Chainsaw Man to be perceived as a social critique of any sort. This claim comes from his one-shot, "Just listen to the song".
So, I thought of refuting this claim by making a new YouTube video where I expose these 2 points:
1- His intention isn't necessary to make sense of his work. Fujimoto's intention isn't entirely present in Chainsaw Man, because if it was everybody would clearly understand it, and then nobody would overanalyze it as intended by him. Thus, Chainsaw Man's meaning has a degree of independence over its author.
2- Chainsaw Man was written within the context of modern Japanese society. It's not like Chainsaw Man is detached from reality; a degree of social understanding is needed to comprehend Chainsaw Man, as it's a product of this context.
Are you convinced now?

Hello,

Since you are RIGHT in debunking the idea of “this is just another shonen”, CSM doesn’t pretend to make a social critique of modern Japanese society. More than a critique, CSM it’s a SATIRE!

A satire of everything related to the manga and anime world; a deep, harsh and salty hyperbolic SATIRICAL manga about all the famous themes from the manga romcom, to the battle shonen. Everything. References in panels are evocative to evangelion(the descending platform), dragon ball (hallo hallo Halloween) , the romcom harem antics, the isekaied landscape “after dead*, the impossible love between the oniichan and the imouto, the impossible and disproportionate villains, the main character chosen love ( BANG BANG BANG just a pointing finger as a massive weapon) , the deaths and rebirths of the MC, the girl who believes her love interest (the MC) doesn’t love her (before she tries to transform him into a sword)… everything in CSM seems satirized to reveal the original ridiculousness of all these cyclicals themes presented through the last decades in this genre of art.

It’s great.

>A few weeks ago I made a post to discuss whether or not Chainsaw Man is a social critique, and most of you said that It is just another shounen.
It is.

>I'm certain that it also delves into deeper themes and that the characters in the series are complex and multi-faceted.
Such as.

>Some of you justified it by claiming that Fujimoto himself didn't intend Chainsaw Man to be perceived as a social critique of any sort.
So the author says you're wrong.

>1- His intention isn't necessary to make sense of his work.
So he doesn't understand what he's making?

>Fujimoto's intention isn't entirely present in Chainsaw Man, because if it was everybody would clearly understand it
So it's badly written?

>Thus, Chainsaw Man's meaning has a degree of independence over its author.
Or you're an idiot talking about things that the author said aren't there.

>2- Chainsaw Man was written within the context of modern Japanese society.
Except it has demons.

>a degree of social understanding is needed to comprehend Chainsaw Man
How does knowing about Japan make the demon fights any better?

>See, that's just it. She goes beyond Machiavellian; her control could easily become total.
Being powerful isn't a sin.

>And she acts on impulse as well as for gain.
There is nothing wrong about that, in fact, that is pretty natural for a being as lonely as her.

>Then again, if you got the authoritarian brain bug, ain't no convincing you.
I don't really see the point to judging a devil as if she were a human. Conquest is the incarnation of control. Is her nature. And she was pretty tame towards humanity compared to almost any other devil that just want to maximice human suffering, while Makima ultimate goal was to find love.

I’m extremely worried for the direction of this community, the community clearly has no idea what their talking about. I mean, just look at these ships, “Denji x Asa” How could they? Asa’s plan was to let Yoru kill Denji, and now you ship them? How is that a healthy relationship? Horrendous. And look at Kobeni x Violence Fiend, a human, with a fiend???? That would never work, humans and devils must never be in a relationship together. And don’t get me started on “Aki x Angel” or “Denji x Aki” gay relationships? In my manga? Not cannon, burn the ship. I have no hope left in you all, where’s my healthy, wholesome, and cannon Bat Devil x Leech Devil content? Can’t you all see that this is Fujimoto’s greatest ship? And you all chose to ignore it. Preposterous. I expected better from this community.

I feel like there really should have been another arc set in between The Bomb Devil and Hunted arcs. Just a simple arc to help develop and flesh out Beam, Violence, and Spider. I feel we never got to see a true Special Division Four showcase with them all working together expect for The Darkness Devil.... and we all saw how that ended. I also didn't get enough scenes of Violence and Kobani. Their dynamic was super wholesome. Spider's character was non existent, and we didn't get enough of Himbo Beam. The arc villain could have been like the Clown Devil. Their deaths came so quickly I didn't believe it. We just didn't get enough time with them. I also just finished caught up fter binging from 39. So like, my feeling right now are super raw. I think Angel needed more than them, if anyone, but I agree that part 1 was ultimately about Denji/Aki/Power and Makima. The rest was just about intrigue and having powers Makima could utilize moving forward. Beam couldn't add anything interesting because his only role was to be a fan we didn't understand regarding Chainsaw. He couldn't be developed in a meaningful way without being capable of sharing that. Spider getting more time would just draw more attention to how weird it was that she was around. In the zombie scene, that tipped me off that something was weird. I literally said to myself "how did they manage to tame all these devils?" And Spider is #1 for that since she should have been a terrifying spider creature. Humans fear spiders a lot.Maybe Violence would be more worth exploring than the others, since I can't think of why he couldn't be developed more...but he's still extraneous.

>>283397538
So we all know Yoru wants to kill CSM but why? The answer is simple. She doesn't want to be forgotten. If the war is no longer feared, then Yoru will be forgotten and she will disappear. Therefore, she wants to kill CSM so that he somehow spit out the devils she needs. But will it really work? Where is the guarantee that those devils did not disappear forever after being swallowed by the CSM? And according to Yoru herself, this devil cannot just die like that. In the end, he was killed many times and still he came to life again and again. Based on the words of the horsemen of the apocalypse familiar to us, the CSM cannot die and has the ability not only to quickly regenerate, but also to resurrect himself without the help of a chainsaw cord. But why? The thing is that most likely the Devils were afraid of CSM and their fear grew into fanaticism and confidence that CSM could not die. It's kind of a placebo effect. In other words, fear and fanaticism gave CSM strength and ability to exist. But is fear really that important to the existence of devils?I think not. It has already been shown more than once that the devils are not alien to kindness and love. And the final act with Nayuta in the first part proved to us that devils are actually not so different from people. In my humble theory, Ashley will help her (Yoru) learn to love herself and others. And Dennis will give her a chance to exist without relying on fear. Namely, he will offer Yoru to become a superheroine. Because CSM clearly proved that fear is not needed for existence. And if you become a hybrid, then the threat of being forgotten is no longer a threat.
Everything is pretty simple. The author himself has repeatedly touched on the topic of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. So it is logical to assume that the main event of the second part will be the Apocalypse.
>>
>>283397547
Namely, the opening of the doors of hell. (We all know how the Author loves doors)Only this time it will be different.Dennis is going to hell. But no, he won't dieHe will literally jump into the gates of Hell. And why? The answer is pretty simple. Denji, by the end of the second part, will realize that popularity is not what he wants and that public opinion is not so important to him.The only ones who really matter to him are Nayuta and Asa.According to my theory, the gates of hell will not only greatly strengthen the Devils, but will make people gradually remember those Devils that they have forgotten.Opening the gates of Hell will disrupt the natural order of things and, accordingly, someone is needed who will jump into hell and delay the Devils. It takes power to do something like this. And the power for the devil is equivalent to the fear that people experience. For the sake of saving Nayuta and Asa, Dennis decides to return the former power to the Pochita. That is why he will offer Asa/Yoru to become a superhero (and as a result become a hybrid because Asa will be mortally wounded) while he becomes a villain.Denji will claim that he was the one who opened the gate and Yoru will "push" him in and close the gate from the outside while Denji will close the gate from the inside. In this way, Yoru will be loved (as a War girl) and not forgotten by people, which is her hidden desire. Asa will be alive and taking care of Nayuta. And Denji will end up in Hell looking for the Blood Devil. So yeah Part 3 will be one of the hell story.

So, surprisingly, a lot of people have very negative things to say about Quanxi and Kishibe, from what I've seen, a lot of people come out of these hating one, the other, or loving both. I'm going to attempt to explain why, in my eyes, if you come out of this with anything but the third, you misunderstood Fujimoto's intentions.
this, at least in my interpretation, isn't supposed to be us watching Kishibe get rejected because "haha Quanxi lesbian she don't like guys". It isn't meant to be a negative indication of either of their characters. this little strip purely exists to show us the relationship progression between the two, and I'm surprised and annoyed by just how many people online missed that. To elaborate, I'm going to go panel to panel and explain what i actually think we are being shown here.
>First meeting:
We are being introduced to what is Kishibe's initial personality prior to meeting Quanxi. a young, shallow young man, mainly interested in picking up women, with exceptional strength. think a fuckboy version of Yoshida. Quanxi, obviously, is not interested, and most likely doesnt like Kishibe initially.
>6 months in:
this is where a genuine affection for Quanxi starts to come from Kishibe. he is still mostly himself from the initial meeting, but Quanxi has most likely gone from being just a pretty woman at this point to someone Kishibe actually respects somewhat.
>1 year:
this is where we see the "birth" of the Kishibe we all know, and where his personality actually starts to shift. instead of his more rude, dismissive way of attempting to "woo" Quanxi, this actually shows some level of genuine feeling and genuine respect in the way he asks. this is probably the turning point where Kishibe actually has feelings for Quanxi instead of just, to put it in worse words, being a fuckboy. this is also most likely the death of fuckboy Kishibe as a whole
>>
this is that actual rejection that Kishibe wanted, as well as the "end" to this cycle. At this point, we know Kishibe's feelings are absolutely genuine, as he says it while mostly drunk, and despite the other reactions we have seen from Quanxi thus far, she also has a completely genuine response. it shows that she has genuinely come to respect Kishibe over the decade plus of knowing him, and sees him as someone worth expressing her actual feelings towards. this is a level of respect she only ever gives him, and her girls. not to say they are on the same level, but I can believe that these two have an intimate bond beyond anything romantic, and have genuine respect for each other. some people have even interpreted the panel of Quanxi from the side angle to be her shedding a tear, which honestly, while being a bit of a reach, might actually hold some weight.
overall, long winded explanation aside, I think that this little comic, despite being a gag, is also meant to show us why Kishibe regards Quanxi so highly, and how their dynamic formed into what it became. I never read the chainsaw man side stories despite them having them on google docs, but I have little to no doubt the Kishibe and Quanxi one somewhat backs this consensus up. So yeah, don't hate Kishibe for being "too persistent", and don't hate Quanxi for treating Kishibe like shit. that's not really the point of what's being shown. I know most people have the reading comprehension to understand that, but i think its worth bringing up regardless.

So this is my personnel theory that Chainsaw Man only eats those devils who are exceedingly strong and cause an unbalance in the world, and without them the world would be much more stable. For example the Nuclear Weapon devil, in my eyes it has to be stronger than the Gun Devil , who is already sub-continental level in terms of power for raw destruction, which would make Nuclear Weapons devil possibly planetary which would then mean that it could've eradicated the whole human race if it wanted to. The other devils mentioned like AIDS, NAZI, WORLD WAR 2 etc could have also been as powerful as the Nuclear devil that's why they were erased too. Another way to look at this is like Pochita thought that humans having 5 senses would benefit them and the nature better so he ate the 6th sense devil, or having 4 more conclusion than death at the end of a living being's life span was too unnecessary, or even the star which broke children's mind was too needlessly catastrophic. So, in simple terms, these devils who exist on earth are too dangerous to be kept alive and their concepts aren't important towards nature either, so chainsaw man ate them. But by this logic you could say that Primal Devils should be also then erased, but first of all they are always in hell and second of all they represent important concepts like darkness (absence of light), fire (combustion in environment), Death (inevitable end of anything) etc so chainsaw man doesn't eat them as without these, the world would be a mess. It could also represent Chainsaw man as the ultimate hero of this dread, devil-imbedded universe who with his special abilities always saves the world no matter who the devil is. This could possibly explain his special ability to erase too.
Now the same goes for the 4 horsemen too, including Makima as control as a concept is very important in the structure of society in today's generation.

This feels like something someone else has already said, but I haven't seen it be proposed so I'mma talk about it just in case I somehow had a fully original idea. Chainsaw man is the devil with the name chainsaws thus relates to chainsaws and the fear of them, while a devil can feed off the fear folks have for it specifically like with the gun devil. I feel the emotions folks feel related to chainsaw man himself is different from that of chainsaws or of the chainsaw devil, as chainsaw man due to being hybrid when folks fear it they both fear the concept of chainsaws and the concept of whatever's left, what is left is chainsaw man legacy outside of being a chainsaw devil, which I think is enough of it's own concept to birth a new devil that holds the name "Chainsaw man devil" this devil is the fakesaw man at the end of the justice arc. I think this only works like this due to the hybrid nature as the gun devil was also a very well known devil but was still very much related to the idea and fear folks have of guns, so it only birthed fear of itself, in addition it is a full devil so any fear felt for it was fear of the base concept of guns. As a hybrid fearing denji is both fearing the chainsaw devil and fearing him and since denji can't absorb the fear felt form everything outside of the fear of chainsaws this new thing is born of the residual fear felt towards everything that isn't the chainsaw devil about the chainsaw man.
This is very dumb and also badly explained at the same time, plus chainsaw man might not even be the chainsaw devil, and in that case the real chainsaw devil would likely be fakesaw man due to it being shaped by the publics perception of what the chainsaw devil looks like. Eitherway just wanted to get this idea out there.

>kekibe makes da rules
Think about it. Nayuta wouldn't be so needlessly cruel to make rules with punishment for failure to comply being death. Maybe she would totally see Denji's apartment as some kind of a territory and feel that she has the right to do whatever she wants, but so far there's no hints that she would do something violent. She's under Denji's care, and Denji's actively working to help her. And Denji doesn't seem that scared either, he seems more worried and annoyed that he's risking someone's life just for a second date. That isn't trauma, that's just being sick of it.* And you know who else he was sick of?
Kishibe. The one who constantly brutally killed devils and the one who left Nayuta to Denji. He may have disappeared, but I sure as hell think he would be closely moderating Nayuta just to make sure she doesn't fall into anyone else's hands, otherwise another Makima would be made and clearly he wouldn't want that. After all, he was the one who made the 'Anti-Makima' team and he ALSO was the one who found Nayuta in China and brought her immediately to Denji so he could force him to take care of her. That's why he didn't give him a chance to decline. Then he would be exactly the one to make a list of rules for Denji so to make sure NOBODY ever does anything unwanted near Nayuta, perhaps to prevent influences on her behavior. So to make it that whoever breaks it dies (likely killed by Kishibe) seems to be pretty appropriate for what was established.
Also, Yoshida does something very similar too. Denji's constantly surrounded by death penalty rules it's so sad lol

Does this make sense in any way? Probably not. Would it be hilarious though? Yeah.

Okay, so this panel is where Yoru takes over Asa’s body to speak with Yoshida in Chapter 99. After this happens, we can see Yoshida say, “Huh? Those scars…” so he clearly notices the scars that we see whenever Yoru takes control. However, no other character seems to. The Devil Hunter Club do not react to the scars in Chapter 112, and neither does Denji in the most recent chapter when Yoru tries to turn him into a weapon. So Yoru’s scars are probably not visible whenever she takes control of Asa, making it very suspicious that Yoshida notices them in Chapter 99 and then immediately steers her towards the Devil Hunter Club, away from Denji. It seems likely to me that either Yoshida has some kind of contract with a Devil that lets him see Yoru’s scars or he is a Devil himself, allowing him to see them.
It's a brilliant panel by Fujimoto. He cuts off the ends of the bubbles so you can't see where they originate. Is it Asa seeing the scars aka Yoru for the first time? Is it Yoshida noticing Yoru inside Asa but nobody else sees it?
While you could argue it's Asa's POV, Yoshida did notice and smirk at Fami, he clearly saw through Makima, he had knowledge he shared with Kishibe that even surprised Kishibe that he knew, and he seems capable of telling who is and isn't a Devil.
Seems clear that Yoshida can see through to the real person beneath. At this point I wouldn't be surprised if he's the one who found Nayuta, since probably most people wouldn't see some kid in China and go "Oh, hey, it's the Control Devil" especially when she looks nothing like Makima but with the eyes. And we don't even know if anyone can see those creepy eyes but the reader.

So, do y'all remember that first fiend that Denji encounters? Aki asks him to transform into Chainsaw Man but Denji just quickly kills the fiend with an axe. Denji gives the excuse that he sympathized with the demon, not wanting him to suffer. Aki storms off angrily or whatever, and then Denji reveals that he actually just didn't want to spill blood on the porn magazines.
The way I saw the event above was that his excuse, given to Aki, was actually the main reason for his action. He truly did sympathize with the devil. However, he lies to himself giving the porn magazine excuse instead. Like, sure, he probably did want the porn too but I don't see it as the main reason. I think he's just used to taking advantage of situations like this(as shown when he's asked to eat a cigarette for money), and that's what his mind did automatically, but he felt for the fiend too.
An event that happens later on that kind of reaffirms this interpretation is the quest for Meowy. Denji heavily sympathizes with Power's loss of Meowy, wondering how she felt whenever she would go to sleep without her cat. BUT, as soon as the Bat Devil is defeated, he makes it all seem like it was all done for fondling her breasts.
I just get the impression that, because of the way he was living beforehand, Denji's mind automatically goes to something that's "useful" for him. Deep down, though, he has other, more human, motives.

I think the real reason Denji didn't and won't turn into a weapon is because the war devil's power works on ownership. Most of the things they have turned have been inanimate, and the teacher who was in love with her. But let's be honest, that teacher was not the best person, and might have had a bent idea of loving somone.

Denji on the other hand, has learned a lot about valuing himself and others from part 1, and i think does not see love as "ownership", but as a shared experience. So even if Asa wins our boy over, I don't think he will give her "ownership" on his end. He will be his own person, and the Yoru won't be able to use her power on him.
It's complicated to explain, but basically I think Denji's healthy mindset(one of the few he has) is keeping him safe

Yo guys, have you seen Chain Saw Man? It's like, the best anime eva!!! The manga is super cool too but the anime is even cooler cuz it's animated and stuff.

The main character, Denji, is like a total boss. He can turn into a chainsaw and cut up demons and stuff. It's so gnarly. And the way they animate it is so sick. The fight scenes are so intense and like, I can't even handle it.

The story is also so interesting. It's about this world where demons and humans live together and the government hires these people called Devil Hunters to get rid of the bad demons. Denji is a Devil Hunter and he's like, the best one ever.

I also love the characters. They're all so unique and have their own problems and stuff. Like, it's not just a one dimensional show. It's like, deep.

I also love how the show is so gory and bloody. It's not for the faint of heart but it's so cool.

Overall, Chain Saw Man is like, the best anime ever. If you haven't seen it yet, you need to go watch it right now. Trust me, you won't regret it.

>The current dystopia is better than Makima's dystopia
A whole another discussion. Makima did nothing wrong because she pursued her dreams.

That is literally the reason Pochita compares himself with her, as CSM was basically other retard trying to feel love while killing everyone that asked for his help for millenia, unable to find the flaws in his actions. Just like Makima wasn't able to find her own flaws.

PD: "The USA president literally did nothing wrong."
So you admit Makima did nothing wrong? After all, you are arguing that the outcome doesn't matter, just the intention. But that is the same I'm doing.

Hey guys, did you know that in terms of male human and female Hybrid breeding, Reze is the most compatible Hybrid for humans? Not only is her hybrid form the least intrusive, with no sharp weapon edges to accidentally cut yourself on, Reze was 'trained' every day by the soviets before she even hit puberty, this means she's prepared to be able handle human dicks, and with her impressive regeneration abilities and superhuman strength you can be rough with her. Due to her hypersexuality stemming from years of sexual abuse, there's no doubt in my mind that an aroused Reze would be incredibly wet, so wet that you could easily have sex with her for hours without getting sore. she has also trained herself to blush whenever she wants, as well as having no shame in undressing infront of others, so it’d be incredibly easy for her to get you in the mood. With her ability to rebound from normally fatal injuries with blood, she can easily recover from fatigue with enough blood. No other hybrid comes close to this level of compatibility. reze is literally built for human dick. Ungodly regeneration + superhuman strength + near unlimited stamina means she can take cock all day, all shapes and sizes and still come for more.

My Kobeni Karma devil theory: Her contract with the Karma devil is that in exhange for losing all her good fortune, when shes in situations where her lifes in danger, the scales tip and she becomes extremely lucky.
>Itd be a genuine reason for her being the "comedy relief" character and the only logical reason pochita didnt kill her.

>When she called for help shed had a ton of negative karma built up from her horrible work situation, pochita shows up and karma uses that to create a miracle which stops pochita killing her, but of course the price of that is her luck goes right back to 0, cue date time with pochita.
>In some countries karma is widely believed in, so wrongdoers fear the consequences of their actions and I think thats enough for the power kobeni has displayed

Had another Chainsawman related dream, and Yoshida was in it this time.
An old acquaintance who I haven’t seen in months was in this hall with me, it was some university festival or something in the city and said he wanted to kill the person who holds the octopus devil. He looked behind us and there were a few random people with Yoshida as well. He said that he knew it was one of them… and I was like “maybe…” because I knew Yoshida owned the octopus devil.

After the coast was clear I rang Yoshida to tell him my acquaintance was going to try to kill him and he laughed it off and said “I’m a devil hunter, I’ll handle this” (with a deeper voice than I imagined) and I told him to grant my acquaintance a quick death, then added I don’t give a shit either way. Then the dream ended.

Anyone else have any Chainsaw Man dreams? Also what did my dream mean?

The words still haunt me to this day. "I'm a boy." power mumbles, this is when our moment comes to a screeching halt. "What?!" I yell, "I just thought If I could get you to love me you wouldn't-"
this is when she either stops talking, or I stop listening; My fists tighten. That is so fucking disgusting. I see red. It just makes me sick; sick and mad. I want to fucking kill her.
I want to punch her in the face. I want to grab her by the neck and pound, pound, pound on her face. I want to choke her and scream at her. I want to do this, so I do.
I want her to cry, so she does. I want her to bleed, so she does. I want her to die, but she doesn't. I just get up, and look at the repulsive bloody heap of deceit on the floor, and I tell her what's on my mind.
"Get out of my apartment, you fucking faggot." I wanted it to cry, now i feel bad. I wanted it to leave; now I don't know what I want. I just stand there in silence as it drags itself along the carpeted floor, leaving a trail of little red droplets ranging to big scarlet streaks on my precious floor: the stains of something ugly.
this just makes me angrier. this makes me shake. sick and confused, I'm not gay. I'm not fucking gay, and you have the balls to try to RUIN me? I need to distance myself from it.
It looks at me with those sad eyes. those teary eyes buried under a swollen mess of black, blue and pink, and red, I kick it. "get out of here!" I say, and I kick it. as it crawls gimpy to the door, I open a crack for it to crawl out of my home. It betrayed me, used me. It deserves no sympathy.

I bet she was first hybrid human experiment created in China which worked for some reason (meaning the devil accepted the deal willingly).
We still don't really know if the joining was experiment or accident like to what happened to Denji and Pochita.
Maybe Quanxi was dying and some devil she hunted decided to help her. Maybe arrow devil was closeted lesbian too and found fellow spirit.
I expect her being almost as old as human devil hunting organisation were created so some time after the II world war.

1) Do you think Nayuta is in danger when the other horsemen find out that the control devil has been reborn as a little girl?
Makima wanted to kill them all, but we don't know their attitude toward her. Maybe they wanted to kill her, too.
2) Do you expect something massive and devastating in the next 10 chapters that will turn the entire CSM part 2 upside down?

>1) Do you think Nayuta is in danger when the other horsemen find out that the control devil has been reborn as a little girl?
"Danger?" No. As "Makima", she may have been a threat to be dealt with. As "Nayuta", she is a non-factor. On the other hand, as Nayuta is inexperienced and possibly impressionable, the possibility of one of them manipulating her for their own purposes is not zero. Kiga is trying to manipulate War Devil as we speak, so one of them trying to exploit Control does not come off as too outlandish.
>2) Do you expect something massive and devastating in the next 10 chapters that will turn the entire CSM part 2 upside down?
No. Namely because unlike part 1, there is no one to kill off except the DHC: who are comprised of literalwhos. The False Chainsaw Man is the #1 wild card as he is seemingly the Katana Man proxy for this arc. But unless he goes around slaughtering civilians or throwing Asa Yuko's severed head or shoes, I do not know what fork he is going to throw to cause the most chaos. Or maybe Justice Devil will finally reveal itself, who knows?

I have no doubt this guy will die. I'm mostly curious to see who will actually end up doing it and why.

Asa and Yoru: This feels the most likely to me. After stalking her for a bit, he ends up accusing Asa of some kind of evil plot which has little to no relation to whatever Asa+Yoru have planned. They then proceed to kill him to protect their identity and follow up by carrying out whatever he accused them of because it ends up being a good idea.

Yoshida or Famine: For getting to close to finding out about Denji or Asa being devils.

Denji: IDK how this would actually work. Maybe Denji could him by accident as collateral damage in fight.

Actual Fakesaw Man, whoever this turns out to be: Dunno how this would turn out, but it'd be some funny dramatic irony

>I meant with nayuta memories included
Then I'd say yes, at least to some level. I don't think it'd go quite like pic related where Light just reverted to being the piece of shit he always was if her old memories came back on top of keeping Nayuta's.

Even by Part 1 when she was already too far gone she still managed to show a hint of humanity during that movie date. Yeah, she might think of Denji as less than nothing, but the fact that he gave her what she truly wanted (at least in Pochita's opinion) has to mean for at least something.

at the end of the day, if nayuta regained her past life memories she wouldn't become makima, she would just be nayuta with makima's memories, she would still love denji the same but with more conflicting memories from her past life, she would probably not care about her past life outside of guilt for the shit makima pulled on denji as it was miserable and evil existence, like when judah lost her memories and became agni's sibling, when she regained her memories she didn't change character outside of not sounding like a child anymore

No one was talking about Power...

Speculation as to why the War Devil ability did not work on Denji

1) Denji is a hybrid, in other words a human weapon. War Devil power does not work on him because he is already "weaponized" so to speak in a way. In the same way he was not affected by Doll Devil's power. So it can be reduced in Occams Razor.

2) Asa and Yoru share the same brain, hence the same feelings. Even if Asa likes Denji, she is unsure if he likes her and thus, she cannot claim him as her weapon. Yoru shares Asa's feelings so that doubt is ingrained in her too.

3) Knowing that Fujimoto is the greatest lovefag mangaka ever, the reason why Denji is not affected is because he is simply not in love with Asa and his heart still belongs to Makima. This is supported by the parallelism between Asa's affection for Denji and Denji's for Makima (one-sided love). And even though the horsemen's abilities depend on their perception, their powers can be negated to some extent by the mind of their target (Angel who was able to break Makima's spell temporarily when she had not changed her perception of him) (also an aquarium has no mind).
>>
>>283397878
1. Hybridization in and of itself does not exempt one from becoming a weapon. Doll Devil affected neither Hybrid nor Fiend. Likewise, Zombie Devil had no effect on a hybrid (Denji) or a Devil (Blood Devil.) Basically, Doll and Zombie only work on humans. But Horsemen abilities have no limitations aside from the user's perception. War can turn anything she kills or dubs "hers" into a weapon: even devils. The "hybrid" explanation does not hold up well under scrutiny. Even Makima could control hybrids, so long as she recognized herself as their superior. Aside from their immortality, they are not particularly noteworthy outliers.

2. >>283397739 So this is currently my stance until we get further information.

3. Fuji is not exactly what I call a "consistent" writer, so I would not put it beyond him to pull this for more lovefaggotry. While I do heavily doubt this is the case, the absolute meltdown that would ensue on this board would be orgasmic bliss. It would, at the very least, bring this full circle with part 1 - which is why I admittedly feel partial to it.

i think all the named ones (shad, reze, quanxi) will make a return, theyre all somewhat popular characters and they can be brought back without any sort of ass-pullery.
maybe towards the end of part 2 for the inevitable pochita vs horsemen 2.0.
if not, i hope fujimoto at least lets us know what the full forms of their devils looked like (including gun).

I entered my home after a night with my girls and hear someone speak at the corner of my living room, words sight haunts me to this day. "It's been a while, quanxi." I turn around and stare at a deranged old man caked up in make up "I'm Ms. kishibe now, guess now I'm your type now" my stomach sinks I'm filled with disgust at the abomination my single eye has to endure, this is when the moment comes to a screeching halt. "What the hell?" I yell, "I-I thought If I could get you to love me you I-"
this is when she either stops talking, or I stop listening; My fists tighten. That is so fucking disgusting. I see red. It just makes me sick; sick and mad. I want to fucking kill him.
I want to punch him in the face. I want to grab him by the neck and pound, pound, pound on his face. I want to choke him and scream at him. I want to do this, so I do.
I want him to cry, so he does. I want him to bleed, so he does. I want him to die, but he doesn't. I just get up, and look at the repulsive bloody heap of deceit on the floor, and I tell him what's on my mind.
"Get out of my apartment, you fucking faggot." I wanted it to cry, now I feel bad. I wanted it to leave; now I don't know what I want. I just stand there in silence as it drags itself along the carpeted floor, leaving a trail of little red droplets ranging to big scarlet streaks on my precious floor: the stains of something ugly.
this just makes me angrier. this makes me shake. sick and confused, I'm gay. I'm fucking gay, and you have the balls to try to RUIN me? I need to distance myself from it.
It looks at me with those sad eyes. those teary eyes buried under a swollen mess of black, blue and gray, and red, I kick it. "get out of here!" I say, and I kick it again. as it crawls gimpy to the door, I open a crack for it to crawl out of my home. I do not help it, It deserves no sympathy.

I went alone, nothing wrong with that anon. I hear about people here being too nervous to go alone. It's way more normal now then it is 10 or so years ago. It's probably better to go alone so you can get in the right headspace too. All the best, I had great time.

If she is "someone's waifu" than she is "a waifu". You can even see this is true by substitution of the English word "wife". Let's say Bob is married to Susan. They have a kid named Dan. Susan is Dan's mother. Therefore you can say she is "a mother". Susan is Bob's wife. Therefore she is "a wife". Therefore it is linguistically sensible to describe a girl "a waifu" in that that she is either known to be someone's waifu or is worthy of being someone's waifu to the point it is a statistical certainty that she is someone's waifu despite one's lack of personal knowledge of same. Even if one insists upon the necessity of this knowledge, a given observer need only consider a given anime girl to be "my waifu" in order to accurately describe said girl as "a waifu".

Your idiotic image has always been wrong, the person who created it is nowhere near as smart as they think they are, and neither are you. Now we may conclusively describe you as "a bitch", because I just made you mine.

I love the concept, trust me, but I simply don't think it's supported by the text from what I can tell. Her smelly smell was just used to say that she didn't give a fuck about Denji's scent besides what was inside of him, which is why she couldn't tell the difference between him and 'Chita. I don't think it implies any lacking ability to identify faces or weak eyesight.

I hated Reze voice actor. Only part of the movie that irked me. Seemed so corny, fake, and over the top. Her Russian didn't sound Russian at all.

Makima's voice actor on the other hand was perfection.

I came back to the manga because of the movie, spent a week reading 70 chapters. Pretty enjoyable. Is the theory about the chainsaw representing an infinite circular cycle, thus making Pochita the Meaninglessness Devil and capable of erasing things he eats from the cycle of life, still the most prominent theory to answer "why a chainsaw?", or did something less schizo took its place?

The English title of the chapter is "Saying Goodbye"
The original Japanese title is "別れの挨拶" (wakare no aisatsu).
The usage of 別れ (wakare) is an interesting choice. At face value, 別れの挨拶 can indeed be translated to "saying goodbye", and even in its original language has that reading. However, combined with the overall theme of Part 2 in addition to a certain line later on in the chapter, a new foreshadowing aspect may be deduced.
別れ (wakare) means to separate, to say farewell. While goodbyes fall under this 'wakare', it is also often used in contexts where that farewell is more permanent.
Particularly, breakups in Japanese use 別れ(wakare). These past chapters we have seen Denji and Asa go on a date with the promise of another in addition to both of their potential romantic interest. The usage of 別れ (wakare), which is oftentimes associated with breakups, is a very interesting choice.
別れ (wakare) is also used in the context of loss, the death and loss of a loved one. The usage of 別れ in the title suddenly takes on a new meaning when considering that the word is also used in reference to a person's death.
Furthermore, 別れ (wakare) has an additional meaning- to literally separate and branch off, which is interesting because that's what Asa and Yoru are, their brain is separated between them.
This idea of 別れ being potentially important is hinted at later on in the chapter too in Denji's goodbye.
>>
in the the chapter's English version, Denji says, "That's a fun way to say goodbye!" before parting with Yoru/Asa.
Here, we see him state "say goodbye" mirroring the title's "saying goodbye".
This same line in Japanese, however, is, "さよならに変わる良い挨拶だな!" (sayonara ni kawaru ii aisatsu da na!)
Notice, here Denji did not use 別れ (wakare) like in the title, he uses sayonara instead. This can simply be chalked up to the fact that using that in a sentence may be more awkward, but it was a conscious decision to use "sayonara" instead of "wakare" here to reference the title.
Why is that?
Wll, maybe because to Denji, Asa/Yoru's sudden "Spinal Cord Sword" was interesting, but he has no idea that it may potentially be a literal 別れ (wakare) for the both of them, be it through a breakup or death (which has been heavily theorized).
But there is another key in that sentence which might foreshadow this choice, and it's hidden in the kanji.
In that very same sentence, Denji states,
"さよならに 変わる 良い挨拶だな!" (sayonara ni kawaru ii aisatsu da na!)
Notice that kawaru there (変わる)
Now in the eng ver this was translated as "that's a fun way to say goodbye!"
This isn't wrong, translation requires interpretation and adaptation to the language it is being changed to. However, inevitably you will lose the kanji there.
A more literal (and awkward) translation of the sentence could be: "what a very different (変わる) great way of saying goodbye!"
The keyhere is that kawaru (変わる)
Usually in such a sentence in Japanese, one would use this kanji instead: 代わる. This kanji is also pronounced the same exact way (kawaru) and has a similar meaning- however, the choice of using the other kanji here is deliberate.

代わる (the kawaru that normally would be used in this context): to substitute, to replace. Had it been used here, it would mean that Yoru replaced saying goodbye with the "Spinal Cord Sword" phrase.
変わる (the kawaru used instead in Denji's line): to transform, change, be altered.
Do you see it?
That 変わる (change) instead of 代わる (replace) is used here to possibly foreshadow that this goodbye (別れ/wakare) will be more permanent and relate to the Spinal Cord sword sentence in the future, and that this goodbye will involve a certain change , a transformation.
Fujimoto-sensei used a play on words by inserting a different kanji containing the meaning of "change" instead of the usual one that would have been used, and which conveniently has the same exact pronounciation.
To summarize, using that other kanji here is deliberate as it is unusual, and hints to a change/transformation- Denji turning to a weapon, and the Spinal Cord sword phrase being their final different way of saying goodbye.

>Part 2 is a nihilistic misery porn seinen.
>>

There's yet another potential added layer to this "変わる/kawaru" kanji's use that breaks the fourth wall.
The kanji itself (変) can mean unusual, different... but like I mentioned, usually in this sentence one would use 代わる(also pronounced kawaru) instead.
Notice how both of them have the same exact pronunciation. We as the readers can actually infer that Fujimoto-sensei used 変わる here, but what if it's spoken...?
Kawaru (変わる) and kawaru (代わる) are pronounced the same exact way, so there is no way to know which one is used when spoken out loud. However , in the context of this sentence, if you were in Asa/Yoru's shoes and heard Denji tell you that, you would assume it's the kawaru that means replace (代わる), because that's the one you'd normally use.
So why is this important?
Well, Asa felt frustrated upon returning home, she couldn't accept that Denji did not like her after what she considered a successful date. How could he! He thought I was interesting!
Well, that's the irony. To us the readers, we know Denji used the kanji that means different/unusual... in other words, that's a FUN way of saying goodbye, just like the official translation chose.
Here, Denji is actually confirming that he finds Asa interesting and fun, just like he told her in the date!
But of course, she doesn't know !
We the readers have access to that information because we can actually see the kanji. We know he meant the kanji for unusual, but she thought he meant the other kanji used normally here, the one for "replace". So, Asa doesn't know he was complimenting and reinforcing that he found her interesting. That's a great way for the author to both communicate to us Denji's feelings through text while also hiding it from Asa who obviously can't break the 4th wall and read the text, she can only hear Denji, not see his words.

After the events of the past 5 or so chapters and what happened. I’m officially on board with the theory that Yoshida is lying about is devil contract 100%. Yoshida has always been mysterious but what’s even more mysterious is just how much information Yoshida knows. He knew somehow that Makima had no rodents present to spy on he and kishibes conversation(why does he know she uses this method to gain information and why can he tell that she’s not around?) well it can’t be because of his “octopus” devil contract, this simply would make no sense why he is one of the strongest if not the strongest devil hunter alive. So his contract must be “Cthulhu” this theory is much more likely to be true. This would explain his battle strength as well as why he knows so much about the 4 horsemen devils. He knows about the control, famine, and death devil, and also knows about the chainsaw devils true power which is to erase the memory of devils it eats from history. He then suggests to just have denji get rid of death by eating it. It’s clear yoshida is lying about his devil contract and is actively planning to counter the 4 horsemen in some way.
>>
I think Fami can turn humans into devils (or devil-like beings) and give their desires form. I'm not sure how this is related to the concept of famine, or what the conditions are. The theory isn't waterproof either and involves a LOT of unfounded speculation, but here it goes:
Fami poses as a schoolgirl in the school in the devil hunter club. The girl from chapter 1 that got killed by Yoru, Yuko and Seigi Akoku all believe her to be the "justice" devil because of her earrings and presumably she thinks of her own actions as "just", so she might introduce herself that way to them. As stated by Yoru, Fami is crazy.
Yuko mentioned that she got the contract with the devil the same day they were attacked by the bat devil. Which is after Asa and Yuko joined the devil hunter club. So there is a possibility that Yuko met and contracted with Famine at that time. Additionally, when Yuko attacks the school we see Famine touching and strengthening her.
Now, Fake Chainsaw Man. The other thread about Yoshida being the Fake Chainsaw Man gave me the idea that it might be Seigi Akoku, another member of the devil hunter club we've seen (the guy who does shadow boxing while they're in the aquarium). He fights against Yuko and loses his eye. He has a similar built compared to what little we've seen from FSM. And being in the hunter club, Famine could talk to him any time and offer a contract.
Why would Seigi Akoku agree on the contract? Because he's a fan of Chainsaw Man, he too might want to be a hero, not unlike Haruka in that sense. Famine gives him the ability to turn into FSM. And the reason why he killed her is revenge for his eye.
We can even go a step further and question the initial meeting between Asa, Yoru and the classmate that turned into a devil. If Famine really likes her sister so much, perhaps Famine manipulated the situation in favor of Yoru.
And ultimately, all these contracts follow the goal of drawing Denji out into a fight.

So i wanted to brain storm this idea with you guys
When discussing favorite character should the writing of that character be the only metric you judge it with
Many people will say A character is better than B cause it is very flawed and realistic character but when picking favorite should it really matter?
Many one dimensional character will bond and connect with the audience because sometimes thier simplicity is why we love them.
And sometimes those deep realistic character will crash and burn cause when trying to make them realistic you give them many flaws and they end up annoying or boring.
Realism isn't something we always look for when reading fantasy.
So what do you think about this idea? Many times when discussing favorite characters the simple one get dismissed because of this.

I would do it in the surreal style of kungfu hustle but set in Japan (have it be dubbed in English - people don’t seem to have any issues watching dubbed films these days).

Alternatively, have it be set in a western country but give the characters and plot the same tone as hellboy…
