How come western inspired fantasy anime (Tolkien, DND etc) are way more popular than the ones rooted in Eastern mythology? Are the Nips ashamed of their own culture?

It's all dragon quest inspired though

Every time someone asks this question they just reveal themselves as ignorant of basic bitch Eastern classics like Journey to the West.
>>
But I love Tolkien stuff and have read Silm lik 6 times while my favourite animu is Mushishi.

The Japanese are just stuck in this isekaishit and JRPGfaggotry rut at the moment and producing total shit. They can still make nice Japanese folklore/mythology stuff, like Natsume, when they want to.

because writers are not inspired by mythology, they're inspired by video games (and fantasy books sometimes)

>Dragon Ball
>Naruto
>Kimetsu no Yaiba
>Bleach
>Jujutsu Kaisen
All sold more than 100 milion copies and are all fantasy stories with a Japanese as fuck setting, with mostly a mix of Shinto and Buddhist folklore as the magic system and backdrop
And that's just the big hitters
