not discussing about the numbers, why you guys think anime it's gaining so much track with younger people?

Low effort nexflix slop has crushed the western market when it comes to live action.
As for comics and cartoons well...
In short there just isnt much good coming from the west when it comes to media right now

I've had this discussion in another thread but recent boom have more to do with boom in previously underperforming markets like Africa, Middle East, India, etc... than more than anything else. Not any of this cope about Hollywood declining and westerners consooming anime instead.
For instance Demon Slayer movie got the biggest opening for an animated movie in India and the fifth highest opening in the world.

I dunno, ESL; maybe because it's now normie slop and we're in late-stage capitalist societies and everyone is creatively bankrupt. One Piece and Cowboy Bebop both got live action Netflix adaptions, so I guess the Western world is finally trying to rundown another industry into a soulless slop machine like they did with Videogames.
>>
>>283426722
But why are animators starving?

Don't worry they'll be replaced by AI in a couple of years.

Western kids cartoons are kinda DOA now. What's the last big one even? Owl House?
>>
>>283428199
Just because autists on 4chan talked about it doesn't mean it was big. I've never seen anyone outside of /co/ give a shit about Owl House or the frog one.
The last big western cartoon was, unironically, Steven Universe. I'm not happy about it, buts its still true.

Opinion dismissed. The fuck is with you pinkos and making everything into "stages?"

>live in world beset by globohomo at every level, in every crevice
>media from famously insular country and culture provides escape and sense of novelty
It won't last though. The majority of new anime will be fully pozzed within a decade, just as the country of its origin (much of it already is). Maybe I'll look into chink animation at that point, or just end up doing what I already do for games: rewatch the same old shows over and over and accept that the industry that spawned them doesn't exist anymore, that its lost technology.

People will repeat that meme when a Minecraft movie with Jack Black was a huge hit.

Anime's competition in the west has always been live action TV shows and movies, not cartoons. Western cartoons that aren't for children or Family Guy shit are a niche within a niche and will likely remain so for the foreseeable future.

Anime has always been popular with younger generations, what's different right now are the older people realizing nothing good is being made domestically anymore and desperately looking for new forms of entertainment. Shit even NFL was about to die off for good before they turned it into gambling and now it's unfortunately popular again.
>>
>>283426722
Imagine how much money will they make if they animate good stuff and bring back fanservice.
>>
>>283430541
I don't have a source on this but I daresay most of the money is being made by a few big hitters. Typical 80/20 rule.
That "good stuff" would be discarded as "cringe" and they'll go back to slop like Shingeki no Kyoujin.

Anime have been very popular in India very recently especially after covid. Previously it used to be just decade old shounen shows that networks TVs here bought for cheap like Doraeomon and Pokemon and Naruto that people watched. But now with streaming people are now watching even seasonal romcom slop like Alya and I see lots of faggots with anime girl wallpapers in public, that I didn't used see few years ago. I think in few more years, we'll see anime craze on par with latam countries here.
>>
>>283430700
It's our duty to ensure that the younger generations become based wherever possible. That's why I introduced my zoomer 2nd cousin to Oreimo.

>Not any of this cope about Hollywood declining and westerners consooming anime instead.

Imagine being such a centrist dumbass, that you take your stupid middle ground logic to its retarded extreme and start saying objectively wrong things. Yes, Hollywood is in decline you fucktard. Almost anyone who was alive before 2000 can tell you this. Yes, westerners are now watching anime instead in an unprecedented level, and probably due to the fact that Westerners are rejecting Hollywood and finding other media.

The real cope is thinking that third world markets mean fucking anything compared to the USA.

>>
>>283433129
>Centrist
I'm probably more racist, sexist and homophobic than you are.
>Yes, Hollywood is in decline you fucktard
Most of the so called 'decline' is coming from loss in overseas revenue because other countries have their vfx capabilities catch up to Hollywood and no longer watch them for their 'big theater blockbuster' experience. But internal market, it's as strong as ever and any loss is mostly parasitized by streaming. I guess studios have recognised this and rather release their 'non blockbuster' stories as streaming series of 6 episodes when in any other time it'll be just released as a movie.
>The real cope is thinking that third world markets mean fucking anything compared to the USA.
China generates more money than US. Btw most consumers of anime in US are also brown.
>>
>>283433407
He's not wrong though.
>>
Point and laugh at the Western media market
Point and laugh
Don't forget to point and laugh
>>
>>283433129
Thing is, it's not even necessarily the quality of Hollywood declining, but the increasing availability of translated foreign media. This is really just the natural result of streaming services becoming the de-facto way of getting media. You are no longer locked to whatever your television provider offers you.

Let's be real though, most of anime's growth in the west can squarely be placed on Netflix. Anime that isn't on Netflix may as well not even exist.
>>
>>283433564
>Anime that isn't on Netflix may as well not even exist.
I never watched anime on Netflix though
>>
>>283433601
I am obviously talking about western faggot retards who "like" anime and where almost all of the growth is.

The autistic adult man watching cute girls go fishing market is still just as niche as it always was.
>>
>>283433550
Western media companies are literally scrambling to buy their way into the anime industry. Disney and Blackrock already have their talons in and they're already starting to put out garbage to try and tank it.
>>
>>283433646
I think you're forgetting about an even bigger threat: CrunchyRoll. Not only have they been luring retards into subscriptions, they also sponsored manga, meaning they could decide which manga were "worthy" of being sold on a local bookshop. Thus making everything pozzed much easily.
Obviously, their controlling was so easy to see coming from years ago already
>>
>>283433708
>to buy their way into the anime industry.

>>283426722

That's the new reddit.
Reddit spacing meme came from old reddit interface that didn't break lines when you enter a new line and you need to type two enters instead.
But I guess you're too new to know that.
>>
>>283434004
>>283434175
So redditors automatically gave away their redditor status by putting a leaving a blank line instead of starting a new line.
>>
>>283428199

>>
>>283434004
>>283434175
>>283434279
I feel like this entire conversation just reinforces that reddit spacing as a meme has outlived any specific informational content it carried. People literally don't know what it means anymore, they just use it because they think that they gain some kind of upper hand by doing so even when they don't know what it means.
They are not even informed enough to know what they are angry about, just that they are supposed to pretend to be angry about it.
>>
>>283426722
They keep axing the decent shows for no good reason and keep garbage around instead
>>
>>283434721
It looks kinda stupid though

It's unnecessary spacing

Isn't it?

I predict we'll see a decline in foreign share in the future, just like how the rest of the world copying the blockbuster phenomenon of Hollywood and made their own fantasy and sci fi and superhero slop without Hollywood fagtranny worship lead to decline in Hollywood's international revenue.
Already many studios, including ones in the West, just copy over the art style while making their own stories which are free from the 'problematic' elements that come from Japan while having "American" characteristics. Netflix is notorious for this, marketing their own slop like Blue Samurai and Castlevania as 'anime' and they're widely loved by normalfags.

Two things. I'm amazed that people here are pretending that anime hasn't been shit for the last decade. Second thing, I've heard all of these talking points about how anime will be doomed and pozzed since about 2014 and since then, all that anyone can point to as an example of something bad happening to the industry is like 2 shows made a decade ago. I've heard these arguments so many times, I've become fatigued. I'll just keep enjoying anime and watch as nothing happens.

For a long time Japanese companies could've had me fooled. They used to make so many retarded decisions that actively prevented people from spending money on their products. The situation has improved a lot in the last 10 years especially, but it used to be so bad.
