I've been reading this manga since I've heard everyone and their mother saying it's one of the best out there but like... why? I'm at chapter 133 and so far it just seems to have tons of yapping about nen and the possibility of outcomes that mean nothing to the story or maybe like "suspense"? To give credit where credit is due, sure, the world building seems cool and interesting and the characters are all pretty unique and memorable. The story is just so slow and boring. Tell me if I'm crazy for thinking that this is overrated as hell, but I honestly want to know if it's worth it to keep reading

>>283452196are you reading it subbed or dubbed? that might be the issue
>>283452211>hxhtranny can't read
>>283452261Actually listening to it on audio books
>>283452330Do you listen to one or two pages at a time?
>>283452211There's not a single zoomer/alpha exclusive slang term in that whole post
>>283452211the fuck are you talking about tranny?
>>283452403About 6 or 7
>>283452643woooow, that must be so fun
>>283452196Dont know if this is bait or not but:a) maybe this manga is not for you; that doesnt mean its "overrated". b) keep reading, some stories need build-up
Your are right, could you imagine One Piece being this slowly paced. They give Oda shit for not fleshing out fights but Hxh will never be a complete story sadly.
>>283452196Just drop it and stop wasting your time making posts.

>>283452196The first two arcs are know to be a bit slow, but at chapter 133 if you're not invested, it might be time to drop it.>tons of yappingThey're explaining the mechanics of a complex magic system, which will be relevant in the future>possibility of outcomes that mean nothing to the storyHxH usually goes for unexpected outcomes, besides, the series values character psychology to explain how certain events will happen>The story is just so slow and boringI disagree, but that's because action isn't the only thing that matters in HxH, the build up of tension, discussion of plans and tactics are part of the appealMaybe the series isn't for you, you seem to like action more than anything, and while HxH has plenty, it might not be enough for some people, specially if you're used to the pacing of current shonenOne thing I recommend if you're not vibing with the manga is watching the anime, either version but preferably 2011 if you think the manga is too slow, also around the Greed Island arc the art is kind of bad.
>>283452196When it comes to shonen I always prefer the anime and hxh is no exemption. I dont think any shonen deserves to have pages upon pages of dialogue. Reading hxh at times I just want the story to move on.
>>283455410What? The 2011 anime is way worse. Chimera ant arc is literally worse in every aspect because of the pacing and narrator. The narrator isn’t annoying when it’s just text, and the pacing is smoother.
>>283456467Chimera ants from 2011 are somehow more interesting than this boat arc in the manga. Togashi pulled a Miura.
>>283456932Nah. It’s the exact opposite. Most of the ants served no use the second Mereum was born. Those ants were useless filler. Succession war makes the chimaera ant arc characters look like greed island side characters in comparison.
It didn't grab me in much the same way and I read 36 volumes of it. I did have high expectations admittedly. I was similarly disappointed by YHH. The thing I seemed to like the most in both series (charming interactions between characters) seemed to not be the focus of either of them. Leorio and Melody were my favorite characters. Bisky gets third. I fundamentally do not care about Hisoka, so all the supposed hype moments of him showing up did nothing for me.
>>283452196Everything except the current arc is overrated. But, considering that arc will never finish, it’s hard to put too much stock into it. Yorknew is the most overrated arc.
