I love how Oda since volume 25 has maintained that Blackbeard is one cunning motherfucker. Ever since his introduction, it's felt like he speedran the entire road to One Piece, much like Luffy, but unlike Luffy he did it all by carefully planning every step, but not being hesitant to improvise when the situation called for it. After years of sailing with Whitebeard, he went back to being nothing more than a rookie and pulled himself up by his bootstraps into paralleling Luffy. He sets his mind at something and stops at nothing. He's undoubtedly one of the best characters Oda ever wrote

After 25 years Luffy's bounty only went from 30 million to a meager 3 billion, not something like 3x10^29 or something. That's because the bounties still mean what they used to mean. Someone like Usopp or Chopper would absolutely dominate Paradise, they'd even be eligible to be a Shichibukai if they had some decent underlings. Both Luffy and Teach, as I said, are speedrunning, but Luffy's doing it based on his hunches alone while Teach has probably been rehearsing it his entire life.
