Sorry if this might become another "walk her home gently" moment, but why did so many people have such a strong emotional reaction to this scene? Later in the movie, it's revealed *twice* that she faked being into Denji to lure him in, but people are acting like she was being genuine in this scene, so why are people longing for something like this so much? Is it just the desire to be with a woman even if it's fake?

I saw this at the theater today and it was fun. My showing was in 3D, the effect looked a little odd like the different layers of the frames were "floating", so I don't think it added anything to the experience. The animation/art looked better than the TV series and while some shots were still noticeably CGI it was higher quality overall.

Live action has the advantage of just running two cameras side-by-side, and 3D is just the same but the two cameras are virtual

>>283520015It was a very idealized depiction of teenage romance so I can see why people would like it on that level even if it turned out to be fake at the time. There's also the bit towards the end when Denji says even if it was fake she did teach him to swim which is a real outcome. Something real came out of the fake. I took that and the return back to the cafe part to indicate Denji going full retard was endearing enough to make her waver since everything about her whole life was fake.
