>DUDE NEN IS THE SUPREME POWER SYSTEM SO MANY POSSIBILITIES OH GOD WHICH POWER ARE WE GONNA SEE>We got a dude who's punch get stronger when he winds up his armsWhoa....
>>283523291I'm a manipulator. I can freely manipulate my aura to use any nen ability.
>>283523291It really is embarassing, in the boat it just truly became "nen can be whatever idk lol" Togashi KWAB
>>283523291Nen is just bullshit with convincing excuses
nen isnt so bad in its concept but the way fans stroke it because it has so much detail in its explanation is lame, its really not any better than something like Chakra
>>283523291That's what you get for listening to HxH fags glazing
>>283523291What else do you expect from a bunch that refer to their own manga as "soft seinen" because they feel embarrassed that their manga is supposedly primarily directed at shounen, i.e. teens.
>>280717663This is what peak power system looks likeYou may not like it.
Scientific super power systems are just boring.
>>283523291If my grandmother had wheels, she would have been a bike.
All power systems are shit, superpowers need writing not rules.
>>283524088that already happened in the chimera arc. Suddenly everyone was a "special" type
>>283525817Specialization was the worst mistake in the system, the sixth type should be something like "resonance" or 反応系. This would cover all psychic-type abilities that deal mostly with information, so Skill Hunter, Lovely Ghostwriter, Palm's remote viewing, you could stretch and says it covers Doctor Blythe too. It wouldn't cover something like Emperor Time but it's a cheesy asspull power anyway.
>>283525874Pitou didn't need to be a specialist in the first place.Doctor Blythe could be explained sufficiently by calling it conjuration (create the puppet) and manipulation (control the puppet).Having the puppet go on autopilot to fix someone with no medical knowledge on the user's part is the tradeoff for the risk of being unable to move from the spot or use nen for anything else while using it.
>>283524088Is there a problem with having a variety of powers? >>283525817>SuddenlyDid people forget that we had 4 specialists in Yorkshin?
>>283525429Only when they are poorly written
>>283526776I think it's that the way fans hype up Nen as a power system vs what actually shows up in the manga is disconnected.
>>283526894>I think it's that the way fans hype up Nen as a power systemIt's really just a vocal minority and shitposters that treat Nen like the best thing in fiction. No different than the mountain of people complaining that "specialization ruins the categories" or other such arguments. First and foremost nen just needs to function within the story and it wouldn't be as well regarded if Togashi wasn't a good writer overall.
>>283525692kek
>>283525817Who was a specialist in chimera ant arc beside Pitou? I don't remember anyone>>283525874Agree with you that specialization was a mistake, but I don't think Doctor Blythe is a specialist ability.
How come Killua wasn't aware of nen when he comes from super elite assassin family where everyone uses it?
>>283528296his brother literally brainwashed him
>>283528282>Who was a specialist in chimera ant arc beside Pitou?Leol and the Chameleon from what I remember.
>>283523291>specialist does everything or whatever
>>283528296The better question is how come the entire world isn't aware of Nen when everyone who is important can use it and it's various uses are extremely noticeable and there is no need to keep it a secret and there is no agreed-upon conspiracy to keep it a secret and mass communication platforms like the fucking internet exists.
>>283523291Point and laugh at the enhancer
>>283523291Most overrated power system in anime history
>>283529585Pretty much all of this has been addressed across the whole series. Superhumans just normally exist as well as magical creatures so what is considered "normal" in the world of HxH is vastly different from that of our own. A guy jumping super high or punching the air and causing an explosion several feet away are both about as normal as can be. Psychic powers are also somewhat accepted as being real. Nen users are generally very secretive and discreet with their abilities. People like the Phantom Troupe are considered outliers because they don't care who sees them using nen. But even in the current arc it's made clear by the military, royalty, and the mafia that they all want to avoid having power imbalances caused by mass knowledge of nen. Even Netero's school teaches a fake definition of "nen" to neophytes before going into the real lessons. And the V5 did everything in their power to suppress information about the Chimera Ants so there are conspiracies in place to limit or alter information given to the public on pretty much every level. The internet of HxH is heavily censored. Information on Greed Island, a game run by nen, required a hunter's license to access because the public website just gave the manufacturer info. Outside of that it cost a shit-ton of money to visit a once-a-year auction and be told the same amount of info. The average person just doesn't have the means to learn this stuff on a random forum. And anyone rich enough to get there will probably just do like Battera did and hire someone who already knows nen to do stuff for them. As for public displays of nen. The Arena does exclusively feature nen users after the 200th floor but as long as nobody is outright told the guy with clones and the guy who re-attached his arms are using the same power. How would anyone learn what nen actually is? From their perspective it's two random powers and not part of a unified system.
>>283529872>Nen users are generally very secretive and discreet with their abilities. But why though? I just don't believe something that is so widespread and can be discovered independently could remain a secret, especially since Nen presumably has been around for a long time. The series treats the Nen reveal as "oh magic is real! I want to learn it!" when magic being real should be the default position of the characters considering the world and it should be more like "I'm going to learn the specifics of the magic that I of course know about".Nen is also so incredibly useful and flexible that it would be used for pretty much every profession and industry. You would have Nen hospitals with super-healers for example. You would need an extremely repressive and authoritarian world government for the Nen cover-up to make any sense at all, and that is not how the series depicts the world generally speaking.
>>283524177That's bullshit, what makes nen fun are the rules of nen application and the framework for creating a hatsu, while with chakra it's basically just mana to use magic. That difference is why nen can be and is often discussed at length while no one really talks about the chakra power system.
>>283530149>But why though? For a number of reasons. Like I said, for one there's making sure other people don't realize there's power to grab for themselves. If your opposition things guns and knives are the best tool out there and your people can turn grenades into rats or literally punch truthful information out of people. Why would you bother tipping your hand? For another it's not easy to learn. And lastly, technology is still convenient and the average nen user isn't bulletproof past small arms. You aren't appreciating how long it would actually take someone normal to learn nen because it follows prodigies and geniuses. We're told that the average person would take multiple years to accomplish what Gon and Killua did in just the Heaven's Arena. And that was all foundational stuff. I already covered how the setting does limit ready access to info on nen in brief. But add onto that the average person is just too lazy or uninterested to care at the end of the day. You are aware that you could master breathing techniques from Tibet to raise your body temperature, or try and learn to memorize large amounts of information with extreme precision. It may not be magic but have you really tried to maximize your control of your body? I usually equate that to learning Nen. Most people would think about it, see how much work is ahead, and walk away to do other things instead. And the story does agree with you that once people learn what nen is they will do everything to try and learn it. But the only reason it's tempting in the current arc is because multiple characters have powers that accelerate the learning process and there's an immediate threat of assassination. Otherwise how many students in Kurapika's class do you think would keep showing up if they hypothetically could safely attend classes in their homeland and it would take at least a year to start bearing fruit if they weren't some 1 in a million genius?
>>283530593And the irony of how things work in HxH is that the guy I posted is the leader of a mafia and he is shown to not really know what nen is. To him he's aware some of his subordinates use weird powers but because he's a royal bastard, he's intentionally kept out of the loop otherwise he might have himself tried to usurp the throne using Nen. His right hand man will go to hell and earth to follow his orders, but he won't break that taboo.
>>283529872When you put it like that, Nen is an incredibly redundant power system.
>>283525874Specialization would be fine if it was more so that it let you have one weird power that doesn't really fit anywhere else, maybe a power you can't even control. The fortune teller girl is a good example of a specialist I feel.
>>283531848>Nen is an incredibly redundant power system.I don't get what you mean here.
