episode 9 of season 3 was when an animator finally went>wait a minute, the kumiko is showing on both sides of the shoji, that's not right.up until this point it was always visible from both sides of the doortypically the kumiko(wood lattice) of a shoji door is exposed on only one side because you paste the paper onto it from the otherside, and then you have the wood lattice side facing inwards towards the room since that's where you'll be looking at it from most of the time.

update on my plan to watch non non biyori inside non non biyori using VR. after rewatching the anime, this is the general floor plan i could reason out for the koshigaya house from what i saw. not perfect, but good enough to get started.i was also considering making something like osaka simulator, but with the biyoris wandering around the house after i finish making the asset.

i liked the japanese video's idea of there being an engawa in the back where that wood door at the end of the hallway leads to, but it didn't make much sense to me to use fusuma along those back walls in the back two tatami rooms if that was the case since those rooms are so dark normally and you'd really want to use shoji to let some of that natural light in if that was the case.we also see that there is a closet on the back wall of the upper left room where komari hides in after the weasel gets into their house where that supposed engawa would have been.we never get to see behind their house or where that door at the end of the hallway leads, so it's possible that it leads to their parents room somehow, but more likely it just leads outside.i'm done being autistic now.

I just finished season 1. I like it but Renge is carrying the entire show on her tiny back. The other three in the main cast aren't fun to watch. Hotaru's obsession with Komari doesn't mesh well with the comfy vibe of the show, Komari herself is reduced to suffering gags and her sister is just plain annoying. These four should've been the main cast. It was the best episode so far.
