They carry the story, so you need as few people to dislike them as possible, and the more personality traits you give them, the easier it becomes for someone to find something to dislike
I think characters getting hung up over indirect kisses is cute. The biggest issue is the third one on the second row. It's one thing to be shy when talking to a girl and I think that's generally relatable, but not being actually frightened and shit like that. How long some of these series are dragged out for can be annoying too. I'm fine with most of everything else in the image.
