The stuff between Yabuki & his ex-wife happened back in 2009. That wasn't the reason Darkness ended. Darkness ended because the Yami's storyline was finished & they decided doing 18 volumes like the original series was enough. As for why there hasn't been a new series since Darkness ended, it was because they wanted to take a break from it. Yabuki has plans to continue making new content in the To Love Ru universe with Ayakashi Triangle & the 2023 one shot being the start of it.
