Reread the whole series this past week and I now have a lot more appreciation for P2 and think it's pretty fucking good even if it's different than P1. Yoru is the only thing keeping this manga together.You can have shitty writing, you can have bad characters, nonsensical plots, and any other bad thing you want, but as long as your story is entertaining to read it will keep itself afloat.That's the biggest sin of Part 2, it's excruciatingly boring. Denji feels like a complete different character because he is now boring to watch, in part 1 he was always the star of the show, now he acts like a zombie. This is the case for a bunch of other characters.Even Asa started as a interesting and fun character now feels like filler, she lost all her uniqueness and spark.Yoru, despite having a lot of problems on her writing, is still fun to watch, in fact she's the only thing that feels fun in this story. But Makima's evil is largely a function of her being wildly misguided and delusional about happiness/pain, even in herself which is referenced in the "I wish bad movies didn't exist" line, because it shows she doesn't understand the complexity of life. Pochita could've very well eaten some truly unspeakable cosmic horror level nightmares that plagued humanity and we'd never know. He was never willing to eat Control, even in Hell. I could be wrong but i don't think that choice was solely for Denji's sake.
