Thanks as always OP. I will say, as much as I'm enjoying Kotonoba Drive, I do miss the character dynamics from YKK or Isaki. This is more of a collection of tone poems. Perhaps I just have to adjust my expectations, because I do quite enjoy what it is, but I can't help but feel that YKK's blending of the smaller magical/surreal moments into a larger story made them feel more special. Even PositioN, rough draft of KD as it is, felt like it was building its characters and their dynamics in a way this doesn't really. Perhaps I would have appreciated this more reading it in a manga mag as it came out, as a little refresher between more plot-oriented works. Anyone else feel similarly?

>>284005389Yes, I love Ashinano's style but the more I read his other works I noticed he sort of over uses it, but I think it works best in YKK because of the world building in the others there isn't the emotional gravitas that gives the scenes such weight, well I say that but they still hit me hard but not as hard, for me the best moments are the ones with the long build up where the chapter alone doesn't give you the emotional weight to understand everything, like for me I love the last handful of chapters in YKK when you see, the Taipon head on it's way to the southern hemisphere for 7 years and they all wave it goodbye and then a chapter or so later it's back emphasizing just how long the timeskip has been, same for the Misago in the last chapter or two when she's not been seen for a long time and shows up again, alone that chapter has no meaning but when taken with everything from the past it hits me like a truck. I still enjoy Kotonoba Drive because a lot of the chapters feel like they connect to the old world a time long ago but they lack that continuity.
