The first chapter built everything up as a serious arc about Kusuri denying the transience of life. The natural conclusion would be her coming to accept it. But the payoff here is handwaving all the emotional buildup for "we have to find the cure! Let's work hard until we do it!" I love Rentarou, but I feel like he got in the way of a very important moment in Kusuri's life. Nakamura's a smart writer. I just hope this isn't the end of Kusuri's character arc. I really think this plot point can be revistied and expanded on in a much more satisfying way. Perhaps a Yaku arc can give us her perspective on the matter, and her heart to heart with Kusuri can come full circle into finally allowing Kusuri to accept the beauty of natural life.

I'll be honest I feel like Nakamura is too tied up in following a streamlined formula. There's still wacky stuff happening in the chapters but it feels like a lot follows the same beat. I think he should go back to being more spontaneous with it all.
