The caster pistol was great, one of the top fictional firearms if you ask me. I wish Hilda stuck around, she was more interesting than Melfina and hotter too. Overall it was a fun anime with some particular 10/10 episodes.

It might be a tad bit overrated these days but it deserves at least some of the hype. Of the three major space cowboy shows of the late 90s, it takes itself the least seriously (so don't expect the "heavier" themes that rear their heads in the latter halves of Cowboy Bebop and Trigun), and the end result is something like a high budget late 90s animated Japanese take on a Flash Gordon style sci-fi action story with- like another anon said- Chinese mysticism thrown in for flavor. Great visual flair, a lot of unforgettable characters, and a fun upbeat soundtrack. Some worthy criticisms- Suzuka is esentially wasted as a character (the writers clearly couldn't figure out anything for her to do) and the ending- while not terrible- leaves a little something to be desired. But overall, you can do worse than OS. If any of that sounds like it's up your alley and you don't go into it expecting a life-changing masterpiece, you should have a good time, anon.
