Exiled-Destiny XDCC bot will be gone after Dec 1st.
Download what you can until then.

What happened?

Nothing.
You can't expect for stuff like an IRC bot that serves all that anime dvd/bd rips for free to stay up forever can you?

Aren't their subs found in Nyaa anyway?
>>
>>284068369
and how many have seeds?
>>
>>284067975
They're not crap but definitely way behind the times. Still, these rips are worth preserving.
>>
>>284068442

From what I'm seeing, it's equal (those with seeds and those without). Point being, just because a group stops doesn't mean their subs won't be taken out of Nyaa. I can still find those subbed by OZC in Nyaa.

Hear hear. They're the ones who used the official English release of Ai Yori Aoshi, complete with credits.

Talking about E-D|Raphtalia?
>>
>>284065254
Source for that series in your pic?
>>
Looking at old fansub groups (even if E-D wasn't one, they only ripped US DVDs) makes me feel toxic nostalgia.
>>
>>284068369
I remember uploading one of their old DVD rips to nyaa many years ago because it wasn't there and the only available release was a godawful TV rip. It was something so unpopular I can't even remember what it was, but still.
>>
Downloading A Little Snow Fairy Sugar and Bottle Fairy.

Good choice.

Back in the day, Exiled Destiny were often the best versions out there (yellow subs and all), especially when you compare them to the likes of A4E offerings.
Truly the end of a era. Now I know why all those ED torrents appeared on Nyaa a couple of months back.
>>
>>284065254
On their own IRC channel? Aren't there XDCC bots on the nibl IRC channel that have Exiled-Destiny's releases? So they're still preserved for now.
>>
what happened to goddess?
>>
>>284077782
Isn't that the manga archive that stopped new registrations and just slowly faded away without any updates?
>>
>>284078021
I still see some new stuff being uploaded. Is it just bots?
>>
>Gunparade March
>GS Mikami

>El Hazard
>Saber Marionette J X
>Knights of Ramune
>Excel Saga
>Burn Up
This is what I still have from them. Are there better releases for ANY of these series?

If goddess is dead/reclining what's the new sekrit club for manga? Is the current meta just ripping mangadex and looking to private trackers for stuff that got deleted? Maybe I'm just old/out of the loop but it feels like even piracy's more soulless now than it was a decade ago, just like the rest of the internet.
>>
>>284079010
Ironically the more accessible piracy is, the most selfish people are: with current upload speed and hdd prices, you can seed thousands of stuff but ppl refuse to do so
>>
>>284079010
The goddess is still pretty good for official volume releases and LNs.
Your best bet is using Suwayomi (Desktop) / Mihon (phone/tablet), and adding multiple extensions. Don't put all your eggs in one basket, so have multiple sites for multiple entries in your library. That way if (when) one of them goes down, or one of them serves super compressed images, you can easily pivot to another.

I think a large amount of the issue is where scanlators release firstly. After the MangaDex incident, many of them fucked off somewhere hard to follow. You can use MangaUpdates for some entries to see if it's still being worked on, and sometimes with that information find a place where the latest chapter has been posted. There are some scanlators that unfortunately only upload new chapters to somewhere like their Discord server. I can't think of any scanlators that primarily upload to something decentralized (like I think they should).

I'd also recommend downloading everything you like. Everything. HDDs are cheaper than ever, manga is not that huge. If you don't know how: learn. Suwayomi and Mihon have built-in downloaders. I'd say to do this even if you don't plan on reading something again.
>>
Tragic.
Our era is disappearing.
>>

>Suwayomi
>an independent Mihon (Tachiyoni) compatible software
Interesting. I've never used Tachiyomi because I don't read things on my phone and I don't own a tablet. Neat that it's available for desktop, but I hate relying on aggregators for manga downloads because I don't trust them to host non-compressed images. That was the beauty of batoto and mangadex, knowing that scanlators directly uploaded there and they didn't mess with the files. At that point I'd rather just use MU to find a group's website and get it from them, but it sounds like we're in a retarded era with Discord.

>HDDs are cheaper than ever
Fren, I'm still seeding the MangaTraders archives on my seedbox with local copies on cheap externals I buy annually for $100 during Black Friday/Cyber Monday. I'm just whining about the death of quality centralized hubs and the balkanization of manga piracy, old man yelling at cloud things.

Good stuff.

My advice was just kind of general for anyone reading it in the thread. Some don't understand why people hoard bits and bytes, and then complain when the thing they like goes away. Like when panda was about to shut down and everyone was panicking trying to save everything. Instead of just favoriting or bookmarking a doujinshi you like, download it and save it. It might not be there one day because of increasingly draconian laws and requirements.

It's terrible how much the world's regressed in some ways. Consumer hardware and gadgetry is more locked down and difficult to service. Streaming sites are just as fractured as cable was but now they also steal your personal information. Digital media is nearly as expensive as physical was but buyers don't own it. Websites and programs are starting to require ID and subsequently prove they're too incompentent to keep user data private.

I was on an assignment not too long ago where we were all stuck offline for some months. Something that brought joy to me was seeing everyone trading media on their external hard drives, swapping movies and music and anime and whatever, just like in ye olde days when people met up to swap floppies and VHS and whatnot just to share cool programs and shows. I dread a future where that becomes a necessity once again because the powers that be force all the nerds back into increasingly esoteric corners of the web, and te ubernerds have to be the plugs or the warez guy for their less savvy but still geeky friends.
>>
I've lost my goddess login because it's been years since I needed anything from there and last time I was there it was pretty much dead.
>>
Fucking hell man. I'm going to have to cut my nuts off to join a private tracker next time I want something >15 years old or a good old DVD rip.
>>284076635
Only a few series are available on other bots, the vast majority of their releases are on E-D|Raphtalia
>>
>>284084048
I don't know how much it's changed, but joining a public tracker like Panda is a decent way to at least start getting your foot in the door. It helps you prove that you care about seeding and aren't just a total leech. I got into AB a decade ago just by doing the interview and showing them my Panda seed ratio.

Man I haven't downloaded anything from irc/used ddl services in like, 15 years. I have been exclusively living off of torrenting, and all this familiar lingo is making me think of a friend who has turned into a hobo.
