I should really rewatch S2 with less critical eye. I didn't think it was like super bad, but it had some obvious CGI tricks here and there to help with animation, and style/colors just aren't as pleasant as S1, Genos metal parts are still pretty awful too, but after experiencing S3 there is a visible effort put into S2 to at least try living up to S1 legacy.
