Thoughts on this series? I’m not into manhwa usually, but this one really hooked me

>>284080695The premise is generic so it's mainly the writing and art that's good. The characters are multifaceted and everything develops in a subtle, organic way. It's most visible in Ruha's arc where knowing her backstory you can see all the layers to her psychology and exactly why she falls in love with Sanghyun. There's also lots of great visual storytelling with the paneling, use of lighting, foreshadowing, etc. The storytelling overall is just very solid.

It helps that the story has baked-in drama and progression that does not hinge on the genderswap itself, allowing it to make use of genderswap tropes the story being nothing but a rehash of the concept.The dance/idol storyline is decent. The mystery/stalker plotline adds some much needed spice that carries the story forward enough that you can maybe start to care about the other side character idols enough by the end. I like that the genderswap itself is never treated as anything more than a device to further the MC's ends. He neither freaks out of it or treats it as wish fulfillment. Its the price he is willing to pay to fulfill his dream and so far thats all it needs to be to him. I'm still waiting for what feels like a chekov's gun with the distilled perfume. The past-life bath is obviously something that requires intent to use, but the perfume for a temporary fast change is something small, portable, and unlabeled. I fully expect someone to pick it up and use it on accident, creating a complicated situation that requires the MC to explain what just happened to them and reveal his secret.

The author is making a point to draw Yoil with masculine moments so the reader knows the MC is voluntarily acting like a girl during performances and not being sissified against his will.
