How many conventions have you been to? I'm 24 and have been going to anime conventions since 2012. I thought convention-going was fairly common among serious (>) anime watchers, but when I ask other people around my age who are more into it than I am currently, they say they've only been going since a few years back.
inb4 "fuck off to /cgl/" no I don't want replies from the same ten people

Seperately, why hasn't there been a better woman MC since she aired?

I went to like 2 or 3 conventions in the period from 2006-2010. I went to another one in like 2015 or 2016, I don't remember which year.
I don't consider myself an Otaku, I have watched like 50 series, played like 8 VNs and like 8 JRPGs, read like 5 manga and 3 LNs. I also watch vtubers.

Who lets their 11 year old go to an anime convention? Why do so many zoomers have retarded parents?
>>
I went to three or four about 20 years ago. Turns out I was too socially awkward even for anime conventions. And I've only got worse since.

I mean it's preferable from the tablet babies.

>Who lets their 11 year old go to an anime convention?
Why not? To the parents it's a bunch of normal japanese cartoons. My dad got a Chobits boxset he found for me because he recognized it as "Japanimation"

Just 1. About 8 years ago. It was fine to experience once, but not something I saw myself doing regularly. Lack of people to go with or interest in current pop culture. From what I remember it was a lot of walking around and looking at stuff. I'm not into merch collecting and theme parks as I was when I was younger.

Nobody even asked how many things people watched or read. I thought >>284075709
would appreciate those numbers being recorded

I went to 3 conventions this year and next week that will go up to 4. Usually I don't go unless there is something/someone interesting to see, but this year the conventions close to me have been great as far as guests go so there you go
>>
Never been. By the time I was able to go I wasn't interested.
>>
Been to a couple back around 2008 in my home city, and a random one in 2018 that happened to be going on in the city I was visiting.

Was always annoyed by convention goers. Lots of moralfag posturing. Also I have zero interest in all the localizers and english dubbers they bring on for panels. I don't mind the idea in theory, but it's always felt too infested with grifters trying to inject their own bullshit into the hobby.

yeah there are a lot of shit ones. Anime Pasadena, riverside, and impulse are the best known shitty conventions around here. The subculture is too well known for any local cons to be good anymore

I've been to the same yearly one maybe around 10 times. Last time I even worked up the courage to participate in a karaoke contest on stage which was good fun.

I usually go around with a DIY "guess the anime" sign and ask people to play. It's a fun way to interact with the community and to gauge which anime people are actually watching.
The crap they sell is way too expensive though, I think I've only ever bought cute keychains from independent artists.

Been to plenty of comic cons for years. Wouldn't really go to an anime one, though. What's the point of a con if there's none of the actual creators there and if it's mostly going to be bootleg merchandise and cosplayer cliques? Artist alleys are nice, but you're better off going to a convention more geared towards artists/self-published zines and look for art styles you like rather than a generic anime con.

The only appeal of an anime con would be to meet by chance and make friends with a genuine otaku there, so I can finally have a friend to hang out with and chat about /a/ series after the con.

Panels? Also anime cons are pretty much the only place that ever sells doujinshi in-person in the West. (And doujins are notorious for being difficult to find online due to them not being a commercially manufactured product and printed in limited quantities).
>>
>>284081567
>none of the actual creators there
The larger cons usually have several.
>>
none and ive been an anime fan for 2 decades +
>>
>>284075511
Why would I go to a convention when I could be consuming more of the thing I like instead?
>>
>>284081567
>What's the point of a con if there's none of the actual creators there
AX and ALA have them
>it's mostly going to be bootleg merchandise and cosplayer cliques?
Don't go to small conventions then
>
Well that's why it's called a "convention", so you "convene"
>>
I went to this kind of event, and it was just the usual fotm cosplay slop, gacha shit, and the same japanese food at every corner
