This anime has a unique story and impacted me greatly. The thematic message from Onimai is contrary to other series' messages that are about a NEET who overcomes his disgusting lifestyle. Other series will have the main character overcome their flaws, undergo character development, and become a wiser/happier person; however, Mahiro embraces his flaws and regresses further into degeneracy by giving up on being a man and instead acting like a little girl in order to find happiness. Mahiro realizes that all his flaws are seen as cute and funny when he becomes a loli instead of disgusting and shameful. His will to live is reawakened when he gets to hang out with little girls all day and get babied by high school girls. People no longer tease him for being worse than his sister in every aspect. And when he does embarrassing things like peeing himself in the cinema, he gets comforted instead of laughed at. Onimai paints Mahiro's situation in such a positive light despite him becoming even more immature in personality, and doing activities of pedophilic nature. But this is how Mahiro escapes his misery. It's beautiful. I am so, so deeply jealous of Mahiro. I want to be trans and age regress too. I'm in the exact situation that Mahiro was in at the start of the series. 20 years old, no job, hasn't gone outside in 2 years, no friends, video games and anime all day. I resonate so much with this series and it showed me the only way I myself can become happy, to give up on being a man and live like Mahiro does. Although it is impossible to achieve in reality.
>>284076141>I want to be transMahiro isn't trans though. You said yourself that the show indicates precisely the opposite: when his body is transformed, his mind changes to conform to the new body.
>>284076273You're right. What I meant was I want to be a real girl.
Just took one orgasm as a female make him rethink coming back to normality.
>>284076141I think Onimai is a good exploration of gender and age social norms and pressures. Mahiro’s indecencies and weaknesses are looked over when he’s a little girl, and at the beginning he had all that pressure of having to be the older broher who’s got his shit together. At least, it seems like a blanket case of female and youth privilege to me
>>284076141I’m sorry, anon. It’s not easy to fix your life, especially with the anvil of “masculinity” hanging over you. But realize that society doesn’t have to define your masculinity. Take things slow, one step at a time, okay? And realize that most of our societal standards of masculinity are set up to benefit 3DPD who have also been benefiting from feminism the past 70 years. You don’t have to be a provider, but I’m not saying you shouldn’t provide for yourself. Go out there and discover what you like, what you’re good at. For yourself.I hope I got my point across properly. It’s not an easy time to be a young man these days, but you can change your mindset for the better. Who do YOU want to be really, anon?
