>With nano banana you can now translate redraw and typeset with a single prompt
What's the point of learning Japanese again?
>>
Good luck asking it to work on pages with any slightest hint of fanservice or (((problematic))) themes .
>>
>>284080098
>adds random sound effects and alters existing ones
>rapes scan quality in the process
Put it back in the oven
>>
>>284080810
You should probably just pick up the text with OCL, put it into an LLM, then just handle the redraw part with nano banana (if needed, probably not honestly)
>>
Translation needs a QC pass, your example is just very simple. It’s better to have the translation done outside and then ask a model to redraw.

>>284080679
Just use uncensored models. Z Image launched this week is nuts.
>>
Torii translate has a good service with 5 different AI. Now with a black Friday deal of 40000 at $1.34 per 1000 images.
>>
how do LLM's go with translating? do you give them context of the series like speakers relationships or anything like that? or do they just stumble through literal translations?
>>
>>284080098
i like japanese and want to learn it to read in the native language even if i can read it in english, thats all there is to it
>>
>>284081056
You should put in the context a dictionary of standard translations to maintain consistency (character names, main speech mannerisms and so on).
Ask the LLM to make new dictionary entries as it go over new terms. With current context windows you could put thousands of names in such a way.
>>
>>284080854
Is it good with screentones? So far, all local models I tried were turning them into mush, only banana gives good results.
>>
>>284081231
yeah but can it see a face and understand it's Naruto (or whatever) speaking and then reference your context for the character?
I'd be pretty impressed at that, but equally so if there's tools to tag speakers on a page or something.
will be pretty neat when fan translations go away and I can translate any obscure series with a local model.
>>
>>284080098
Can you also get it to make all the girls naked but change nothing else in the drawing

>>284081498
You can tag characters with a bunch of tools but I don’t know open tools that do this in an easy way for translation. It gets complex fast if you want a more professional workflow.
>>
>>284080098
in the future trying to comunicate betwen two or more persons with different languajes will have to wait ai translation, so yeah ai its pointess when it comes to real life stuff

If you don't mind relying on translations, I guess you could at some point use machine translations if they get good enough but that's irrelevant to people who actually want to learn Japanese because they care about nuances that would be lost in translation.
Also I think Kanji look cool and it's fun to read them

>>
>>284080098
You are trusting that they trained the model properly, and they made a through enough chechick if it works properly. You should not trust others as it gives you a false sense of security, when in reality you are only safe alone. What you are able to do is your worth, so learning is never pointless.
Knowledge is its own reward, you fucking fag.
>>
Where are you going to get your manga from? Unless the Japanese apps incorporate this as a feature you'll have to add a whole lot of extra steps.

I'd like to see it deal with handwritten text outside of bubbles too. If anyone in here is willing to do it, try running this page through it.

Does this manga have an uncensored version? The nicely-drawn boobs in your picture interested me, but when I went to read the raws, I found pages where nipples were blacked out.

You haven't seen that hentai "translation" where the proompter didn't realize that half the bubbles said "I'm sorry, but I cannot assist you with that request"? Shit was so funny
>>
>>284086546
What the fuck is this. Is this a serious attempt to translate and typeset? It's not what OP is using in any case and if it is serious it's beyond awful.
>>
>>284080098
always hated the viz-style sfx translations, it completely destroys the artistic intent, please just translate it with small text at the top of the panel
>>
>>284086500
surprisingly it produced text this time, I guess specifying that the challenge was to translate handwritten text first helped. Can an anon who reads moon runes here judge the TL? I'm a dekinai.
>>284086601
Obviously it's not a serious attempt, try reading the post before you reply
>>
>>284086684

>>
>>284086684

Disregarding the raping of the art and blackholing huge chunks of text, it's either making shit up or summarizing basic info on the guy from a wiki.
For example, the sandwich GIRL is saying
>A colossal! So tall! It's probably around a 3 story building
And the last part says Maxim's more famous invention is the machine gun and more fun facts about that
>>
>>284086952
Now this is shitposting I can get behind.
>>
Why would you watch anime and read manga for decades but not even learn the original language? Don't be a brainless consumer.
>>
>>284080098
Actually understanding the language is the point.
You do realize that translation in and of itself is already a compromise right?
Since I learned japanese I can just actually experience the real dialogue instead of a close approximation in another language. Same thing with novels; the prose is always going to be different.
On top of not needing jeet LLMs or the efforts of scanlators of course

>>
>>284088578
Returned? It has been this way for years. The advent of famous online readers after the first era (OneManga and Mangafox being just scrappers) with Batoto and then Mangadex gave birth to one-man scan groups that were composed of ESLs translating things out of botched guess work or the early tools for MTL, before this AI boom.

「よし 繋がっ。。。」
I'm surprised the AI didn't pick up on the cut-off, it's made explicit within the text. I've personally found an issue with using LLM to batch translate subtitles, where it will insert some random crap in to provide "context". It's certainly handy when doing fire and forget style translations to quickly show stuff to friends who don't know JP, but when it comes to anything with long term characterisation or flowery metaphors (usually manga from the 70s or 80s) it tends to fuck up.

People want it to be a magic tool. If you still need to know Japanese and have to correct typesetting errors that wouldn't be there if you'd done it yourself you're just making things more difficult. Going by your example it's more like an automatic hammer that you still need to babysit and occasionally correct its course. Hammering nails by hand would be knowing Japanese.
