Nu-shonen has the opposite issue where every shitter has to have their 15 secs so we know they are totally important.

Every character needing to have some special moment that makes them important to the overall plot is a dumb new gen obsession. Not everyone needs to be a star, sometimes a character can just be around for a conversation or an event and have some small task assigned to them.
