Toriko has better worldbuilding than HxH. I turned on Toriko for a couple of episodes right after watching DB and HxH and boy does it suck. I'm very much into cooking but there is nothing for me here since the food they hunt and make is all made up unlike in something like Shokugeki no Soma which would regularly expand my knowledge about cuisines of the world and niche cooking techniques. But somehow Toriko makes a better case for hunters and hunter associations to exist than hxh: the world is populated by crazy monsters and their bodies are sought after ingredients so it makes sense that a hunter association would be insanely powerful and rich. It also makes sense that if their job is so big they would have lackeys that use tactics and tech rather than just their special powers. In hxh you don't really feel the need for a hunter association to be as powerful as it is because the world is so similar to ours, there is no reason for that one thing to be so different. I think Togashi kind of put off and forgot to make a case for why HA should exist in this world and be so rich and powerful. Chimera Ants are a good reason but they are said to be "unprecedented". It would make sense if break outs of monsters like this would be a common occurance.

Also it's weird that HA would take on so many different professions that are not profitable and somehow be profitable. It looks like Ging became a hunter in order to restore some ruins, but when he talks about it it seems that private investors helped with that, not HA. So what's the point of HA?

Togashi is not a pedo.

Maybe because its members have access to incredibly powerful magic and thus can easily accumulate wealth and economical and political power?
>>
Of course it does.
HxH is an ecchi. An incest ecchi with mecha.
Why do you care about the worldbuilding?

Yeah but I'm supposed to believe they are paid by a collection of richest countries governments to hunt. What do they hunt regularly that these governments are willing to pay them enough to make all the hunters rich? You have threats from the dark continent but they stopped sending people there so no threats are coming back. It makes no sense why governments would pay allowence to HA between the current and last dark continent expedition.

bro what the fuck are you talking about

why is hxh even good again?

In the end, the excuse I have come up in my mind is that HxH is a parody of shonen. Dragon Ball to be more precise, so stuff like this simply exists for the sake of the shonen tropes.

And how exactly they do that? How would they use their powers to make money? And if it is so, it would mean they have to regularly work to accumulate that wealth.
Yet is is never shown or even talked about. I mean, how would Gon make money without being a prostitute? Everything I can think of is basically just hard labor.
And if they turn to crime, I don't think any particular hunter would be a match against the full force of a military army on their backs.

wdym? It's definitely ecchi. They show tits and he actually has sex with his sister in the nivel.

I would say hxh is good about half the time but when it's good it's due to good character writing and balanced power system.

>for a couple of episodes
You should probably course correct and read it instead

Is the toriko manga any good? Had it in my bookmarks for ages but not got round to it.

Also i thought yu yu hakusho was better than hxh

Same. It felt more creative and fun for some reason.

>balanced power system
It's really not. It's well described, but it's not balanced at all. And it makes me question why even describe such an intricate power system, but not make full use of it? When you look at the big fights, the power system is completely irrelevant.

I still think that Yuyu hakusho was Togashi's best work for several reasons.

togashi derangement syndrome

The Hunter Association is an association of hunters.

Toriko the manga is entertaining
It does things like world building well and is almost constantly escalating itself
And the theme is food, that has a universal appeal

Cons include you needing to build up a tolerance to the sidekick, he's constantly screaming and crying, and you need to know that the manga was axed.
The ending is intact for the most part, but two or three arcs were very clearly skipped to make it happen
